Felt really sorry for Fabian on Stage 2 in Italy, he was so close to what would have been a remarkable win
But my wish for Tejay to have a Great day on the time trial bike came true and now he and the team look good for the Overall win

Yea, Spartacus made a great attempt at getting the win, but just not enough at the end. Tejay was simply on fire for that TT. I didn't know how much better he would be than Phinney (if at all) until the first time check he put like 35 seconds on him. Pretty much knew at that point he was going to win.

Tirreno – Adriatico
March 9th, 2014 : Stage 3
Terni – Monte Cassino: 215.1 kms - Hilly
The real test of Tirreno - Adriatico starts on day three, as three climbs conclude the stage. A starter category four gets everyone warmed up before the category 1 climb that will break all but the strongest and a finish atop Monte Cassino for the very best.
Only a pair, BMC's Manuel Quinziato and Cannondale's Cristiano Salerno would be out front for an early breakaway to contest the stages only intermediate sprint.
The shortage of a big breakaway meant there were still points available, and Omega-Pharma's Tom Boonen wasn't going to let that opportunity get away from him as he slides by the field.
A more natural breakaway forms to contest the first KoM point of the day, including Quinziato, Salorno was left behind and work for race leader Peter Sagan who I'm sure has some concerns about staying up front with the two final climbs.
Near the peak of the cat one climb, Tom Slaghter (Blanco) is the first to make a move as he double checks to ensure the OPQS boys working for Chavanel don't follow.
Sensing a chance, Damiano Cunago (Lampre) also takes a stab at the win, however both and the remaining breakaway still out front would be caught by the dwindling field on the descent. With Sacan and Cavanel still in tow.
Hoping to make the first attack the last attack on Monte Cassino, Cadel Evans makes his move. Already on a great year will he be able to add another?
Of course he does! Evans is clearly in splendid form in the early part of the season and certainly age doesn't seem to be holding him back. The Australian looks like he has made a serious commitment to improve on the 2nd he took last year at the Giro.

Paris – Nice
March 9th, 2014 : Stage 6
Saint-Chely-d'Apcher – Millau: 177.6 kms - Hilly
A very hilly stage with a two climb circuit over the last quarter of the stage. The finish follows a downhill and short flat, so a likely sprint for the win will decide the stage. Though I would expect only a handful of riders will be in the lead group.
A breakaway gets started in quick fashion, with BMC letting them go. Though a pair of dangerous names in Sky's Dario Cataldo and Astana's Jakob Fuglsang are allowed to leave, both a good distance back in the GC after failing to come close to the time of Van Garderen.
With little explanation, Movistar moves up to the front, allowing BMC to hide behind them, and protect the double threat of Gilbert and Van Garderen without expending it's firepower. Movistar's Rui Costa must have something planned.
They did it! An attack from Costa puts everyone under pressure, and only 3 are able to follow. An angry Van Garderen in the field shakes his head and yells at Pablo Lastras for blocking him in! I doubt he understands the words, but I bet he gets the message.
Costa isn't done! Another attack splits off two more riders, but a calm and determined Philippe Gilbert sits right on his wheel, as the 2nd head of Cerebus. Will Costa be able to shake him loose and go on for the win?
Uh Oh! The yellow jersey of Tejay Van Garderen has willed his way back up to Costa! The field scrambling to stay with the angry American. How much gas will anyone have left in the sprint? Are any sprinters left in this field?
Clearly upset, Van Garderen decides the only way to ensure he doesn't get trapped again is to set the pace himself. And at the pace he is going more riders continue to tail off. But I see the green jersey of Edvald Boasson Hagen (Sky) has made it over the climbs and to the front, the sprint is surely his.
And with relative ease, Boasson Hagen claims another in this edition of Paris - Nice. Behind him are probably the freshest of legs left in the field of Philippe Gilbert who was simply marking and following wheels. Simon Clarke of Orica takes third.

Tirreno – Adriatico
March 10th, 2014 : Stage 4
Formia – Termoli: 205.1 kms - Flat
Stage four goes back to the sprinters. A set of climbs over the mid part of the race will keep the profile from being completely flat, but should not deter the sprinters especially those that are a little punchy. The final KM is slightly uphill so the riders will probably need to start their sprints just a little bit later.
A small breakaway of four riders would get the chance for KoM and sprint points as well as the possibility of a win since BMC and race leader do not put much effort into the chase. With these hopes is Movistar's Egoi Martinez, Matteo Tosatto of Saxo-Tinkoff, Dominique Rollin for FDJ, and Filippo Fortin of Acqua & Sapone - CSF Inox.
While not driving the race most of the day, BMC would let Fabian Cancellara do his thing and attack the field, however the peloton was ready today and didn't let him get more than a couple bike lengths before pulling him back in.
However in the effort to catch Cancellara, Lampre's Mattia Cattaneo bumps the wheel in front of him and loses control. This will test all of the contenders as they will have to avoid the danger and still prepare for a finishing sprint.
The pileup is of little surprise as riders swerve to avoid ending up on the ground themselves. Most of the race favorites survived, however 7th overall Sylvain Chavanel would be caught and unable to continue the race. Also out are Peter Stetina and Koldo Fernández of Garmin, and Rigoberto Urán of Sky Procycling.
A sprint would still take place after the chaos, as Tom Boonen (RSLT) would take the stage ahead of Peter Sagan (Cannondale) and Andrea Guardini (Astana). BMC finishes 4th and 5th and Evans participates to try to keep from losing too many bonus seconds along with teammate Kristoff.

Paris – Nice
March 10th, 2014 : Stage 7
Manosque – Grasse: 172.6 kms - Hilly
Stage 7 of this edition of Paris - Nice gives another set of hills, as the route goes up and down several times. The finish itself isn't a major challenge compared to the rest of the course, but at speed it can do some damage as well.
There would be a large breakaway which had little interest in challenging Amaël Moinard for the KoM. BMC getting the best of both worlds as their Frenchman is able to just sit on the back and then move just to lead over the peaks.
The race wouldn't see much excitement until late when Luis León Sánchez made his attack, however BMC would flex it's muscle as Greg Van Avermaet and Philippe Gilbert follow the move.
As the race favorites caught the breakaway, Andrey Kashechkin (Astana) would take off, the road to the finish will be tough though as he already has a long time out front with the breakaway in his legs.
The field would continue to whittle down on the final categorized climb, but BMC would be very well represented with three of the eight riders in the group chasing Kashechkin. Moinard still in good shape after being able to stay relatively fresh after sitting in on the breakaway.
Kashechkin would hold on to take the win over the chasing group. Gilbert finishes in 2nd gaining a few bonus seconds on teammate Tejay Van Garderen (5th). Le Mével (Cofidis) and Sánchez take 3rd and 4th respectively.

Notes: Sorry all for the delay in continuing, been working on both fixing XMLs and getting introduced to the Man-Game. Hopefully I can get more consistent again, though both still are on-going and will take time.
Also glad to see Kashechkin get a win! For those not away that was my main rider in the 1st Tour of the Chosen (which I won - bottom graphic in my sig links to it). So I have a bit of a bond with the rider from that.

Paris – Nice
March 11th, 2014 : Stage 8
Cannes – Nice: 138 kms - Hilly
The final stage features a climby circuit run twice, but the finish at the base might make it difficult to get much separation if there are big attacks on the earlier climbs. Several teams and riders need to make something happen to try and overtake the duo of Van Garderen and Gilbert from BMC.
Another large breakaway gets out late on this stage, led by Diego Ulissi who would overtake Amaël Moinard for the KoM leadership. BMC though would never let the group get too far away as consistent work from Moinard, Burghardt and Phinney kept them fairly close.
The only serious attack would come from BMC as Gilbert tried to put a move in late on the descent. A few chasers would follow, but like everything else the attack would be brought back fairly quickly.
The race would otherwise be very uneventful as no one was able to put in an effective attack and would get reeled in quickly when they did, the finishing sprint again went to Sky's Edvald Boasson Hagen who had a very nice race with several stage wins.

Tirreno – Adriatico
March 11th, 2014 : Stage 5
Vasto – L'Aquila: 190 kms - Hilly
Stage 5 starts out by the coast, but moves inland and a good ways uphill before a lumpy four lap circuit ends the race. With the last quarter of the race having no major climbs, expect a group sprint from the remaining field to determine the winner.
A small breakaway of Sandy Casar (FDJ), Julien Vermote (OPQS), Francesco Gavezzi (Astana), Mattia Cattaneo (Lampre) and Kenneth Foss gets out early and quickly separates from the field allowing for a relatively calm race.
What started as a fairly casual day though quickly changed,as did the weather. With the skies darkening, so too did the spirits of BMC who had been sitting back with a rider in the break. The last time-check showing over 13 minutes, with only 55km left in the race. More than enough for riders only about 5 minutes behind Evans to take the lead. Ivan Santoromita would be asked to put in a big turn up the final major climb to help close the gap.
The situation only slightly better after the climb as the leaders still had 10 minutes with now 45km left in the race. The skies now completely dark, and pelting the riders with rain as Fabian Cancellara is asked to pull the field as close as possible.
With a lap and a half left, Sparatus could go no more, it would now be up to Evans to defend his own jersey. With no room left to worry about the other competition riding behind him. The time though was less, only six and a half minutes behind the leaders now, he might just hold onto the lead.
The final moves from the breakaway are made as Cattaneo and Casar separate from their companions. It will be a race to the finish from here as they go up the finishing hill.
Under the Flamme Rouge Cadel Evans has actually put a gap in over his rivals as he puts everything into keeping his jersey. His lead is in a little less precarious position now, but if he hits the wall everything could collapse.
And Sandy Casar takes the win, ahead of Cattaneo and over three minutes ahead of Evans. Not enough to take over leadership, but able to draw closer and move up the GC board.

I don't think so, I tried earlier and couldn't ever get the feed to work very well. I don't think I have a fast enough upload speed here to be able to do it. I can try again though, perhaps for M-SR.

Tirreno – Adriatico
March 12th, 2014 : Stage 6
L'Aquila – Ascoli Piceno: 232.6 kms - Hilly
The queen stage of Tirreno - Adriatico, the long and undulating route will really thin out the list of contenders to only a few. To make it even harder, the final climb just before the finish has multiple stretches of grades over 10%.
A group of 8 riders finally is allowed to breakaway after BMC spends much of the early part of the race determining who they would allow to get free. The group would have a chance until some of the favorites chose late this might be their last chance to gain time on Evans.
BMC keeps the race in check, and puts in a hard tempo up many of the later climbs working to thin the field and remove the help for the other contenders.
A big attack from Gianluca Brambilla would really reduce the number of riders, as anyone who hoped to remain in the race had to follow.
The group would get even thinner as Evans started to work, just grinding his way up the mountain at his tempo. Many riders would struggle to keep up.
Over the summit some small gaps are showing as riders give everything just to keep up. How hard will the be willing to go on the descent may decide the race!
The former Mountain Bike World Champion would show his skill in the downhill as he is able to continue to pull away from his rivals. With only a timetrial remaining did Evans just lock away another tour win?
