46 riders finished in Gr. Wiggins?
Yea, there really wasn't much tempo until Evans pushed right at the end. The lead teams Movistar and IAM didn't have any reason to put their leaders and sprinters under stress, and I struggled to push tempo at all with Frank.

Tour of Oman
February 20th, 2014 : Stage 6
Qurayyat – Mattrah Seafront: 157.3 kms - Flat
The final stage ends the tour on a gentle uphill sprint, and a quick climb at the start of the stage for those interested in the KoM. The riders will get a good look at the finish as they take several laps around before getting the bell.
The only KoM points for the tour come early, and Christophe Le Mével (Cofidis) proves to be the strongest followed by Jacques Janse Van Rensburg (MTN), and Amaël Moinard.
As the race prepares for the sprint BMC looks to be in a good spot with Evans following Lander on the wheel of Rojas (Movistar). It doesn't take long for the other riders to latch on to this train as the ticket to a win.
Even with BMC on his wheel, Rojas has no problem getting to the line first ad taking enough bonus time to overcome Cadel Evans. Haussler takes 2nd and also will jump Evans on the time bonus. Andrea Guardini takes third on the stage, while Evans finishes 6th and gets 3rd for the overall.

Pre-Race Guide
Cadel Evans won this race last year for BMC, and while he won't be back to defend his title, BMC sends it's guns lead by either Philippe Gilbert or Tejay Van Garderen and also have excellent support behind them. The route isn't much different, a circuit with 4 solid climbs and otherwise undulating terrain. The finish though is flat, and if anyone with a decent sprint can survive they have good chance for the win.
BMC Startlist
Co-Leader: Philippe Gilbert Co-Leader: Tejay Van Garderen Teammate: Andrey Amador Teammate: Marcus Burghardt Teammate: Amaël Moinard Teammate: Taylor Phinney Teammate: Greg Van Avermaet Teammate: Henning Vatne
Team Goals
Switzerland is still our home, and wins here are always important. We have sent a very strong team with two serious perhaps three great chances for the win in TVG, Gilbert, and GVA. With them is a very strong support squad. We didn't send any of our local Swiss riders to this race, as a chance to get our other riders an opportunity to gain exposure with the local fans.

GP di Lugano
February 26th, 2014
Lugano – Lugano: 173.3 kms - Hills
The four circuit course will challenge riders with a very undulating terrain and a large peak on each lap where the climbers are likely to attack. The finish is a solid distance past the final peak so the punchers might have a chance to catch back up and take advantage of one of the shorter quick climbs to separate from the pack.
Much of the race is animated early by the ride from Marcus Burghardt, as he puts in everything to try and keep the pressure off of the BMC team, allowing them to hold their firepower for later in the race. It takes a while before he can shake off Vitaliy Popkov (ISD) who was not willing to help during the breakaway at all.
Only shortly after the 4th and final summit is Burghardt caught, essentially solo for over 3/4ths of the race, but Enrico Gasparotto (Astana) makes the move and catches him. Burghardt has nothing left to match and does everything he can just to hold the wheel before both are pulled back into the peloton.
The next attack would come from the American Champion, Tejay Van Garderen, as part of the expected one-two punch from BMC. With Gasparotto already toughening the race once, would anyone be able to follow? Thomas Löfkist (IAM) is the first to try and find out if anyone can match him.
Löfkist is able to come across and also it is Gasparotto who joins the American up front. With Gilbert still lurking in the pack, Tejay lets off and forces the other two do all of the work.
Almost as if on cue, Philippe Gilbert makes his move quickly passing by a fighting Löfkist and closing in on the finish line as the remaining group tries to put together one last push to close him down and open up a sprint for the finish.
Gilbert would not be denied, nor BMC it's second consecutive win at Lugano. A strong push from IAM Cycling would find them getting 2nd and 3rd with Austrian Stefan Denifl and the Swiss Johann Tschopp respectively.

Yea it did, really thought I lost Gilbert as he fell back to A1 at one point when Gasparotto attacked, but Moinard (unsung hero) was able to pace him back into the main group.

Strade Bianche
March 3rd, 2014
Pre-Race Guide
Italy is ready for racing, and teams are ready for Strade Bianche. The route is somewhat flat, though has a few spots favoring climbers, giving them a chance. The finish is also an uphill sprint which could make things very interesting. A profile leaves this open for anyone, a sprinter, a puncher, a climber, or even a breakaway.
BMC Startlist
Co-Leader: Fabian Cancellara Co-Leader: Cadel Evans Sprinter: Alexander Kristoff Teammate: Gregory Brenes Teammate: Kenneth Foss Teammate: Marco Pinotti Teammate: Manuel Quinziato Teammate: Ivan Santaromita
Team Goals
Like Lugano we want to win, and again we send a team with significant firepower. On a stage that could end in a number of different scenarios we decided to bring riders for every scenario. A punchy or breakaway finish could be an opportunity for Cancellara, if the climbers make it tough, Evans is ready, or if we get a mass sprint, we have Kristoff available. A handful of Italian help from Pinotti, Quinziato and Santaromita will work to ensure our riders are in position for a win. And newcomers Gregory Brenes and Kenneth Foss will have some freedom to try and get into the break of the day.

Paris - Nice
March 4th-11th, 2014
Pre-Race Guide
The first major stage race of the year. And generally a precursor to the Grand Tours the race to the Sun will bring out the top riders from every team. This year sees a significant importance on the time-trials as there are no large mountains looming to separate the field. The last three days though feature multiple climbs each day.
BMC Startlist
Leader: Tejay Van Garderen Free: Philippe Gilbert Teammate: Andrey Amador Teammate: Marcus Burghardt Teammate: Amaël Moinard Teammate: Taylor Phinney Teammate: Greg Van Avermaet Teammate: Henning Vatne
Team Goals
The early test for all teams, Tejay leads us here and his elite abilities in the time-trial should make him one of the favorites in the overall. Adding to TVG's GC chances, Gilbert should have opportunities on each of the last four stages for wins, and Tejay's American counterpart and world ITT champion Taylor Phinney should give us more threats to the TT stages for wins. We don't expect much on the flat stages, and will likely just be riding comfortably preparing for the rest of the race.

Strade Bianche
March 3rd, 2014
Gaiole in Chianti – Siena: 176.5 kms - Flat
With unique profile that will leave everyone thinking they have a chance at this race, the question will be, can the climbers make it too difficult for the sprinters? Will the punchers make a late break? Or will the fast men have their day? I wouldn't be too surprised to see all three types of riders around the top 10.
The early breakaway is a group of young riders, two are 25 Roberto De Patre (Vini Fantini) and Nicola Dal Santo (Ceramica Flaminia). One 24 Edoardo Zardini (Acqua & Sapone), and the neo-pro Kenneth Foss only 21.
The first of the assault of attacks from the punchers comes from Maxim Iglinskiy of Astana. Unlike the breakaway he joins with, he is a veteran, 32 years old and might be able to show them a few tricks as he tries to avoid being caught by the peloton.
But it doesn't take long for the sweeping field to bring back Iglinskiy and Thomas De Gendt (Vacansoleil) who also tried to get away. Led by AG2R's Christophe Riblon the lead riders are all caught and one main field remains, though shrinking as riders are being dropped out the back quickly.
With opportunity calling the now very familiar jersey of Australian Champion Cadel Evans strikes off the front, hoping to add another win to his already outstanding season. The Radioshack riders work together to try and keep him in check.
Cadel gets off the front and now the chase takes up a new tempo as Robert Kiserlovski and Grégory Rast of Radioshack really put things together and start to chew back into the time Cadel gained on the two sharp climbs just before.
As though there wasn't enough action going on in front, Fabian Cancellara senses the peloton is weak and strikes out from the group as well, with only Evans and Kiserlovski still ahead of him, perhaps he can grasp his first win of the season.
Though many tried, it was again Cadel Evans who prevails, adding to his impressive early season win total, his 5th victory. Kiserlovski holds on for second and a fast sprinting Peter Sagan (Cannondale) takes third.

Paris – Nice
March 4th, 2014 : Stage 1
Noisy-le-Grand: 6.8 kms - Flat (ITT)
The opening prolouge of Paris - Nice is going to set the stage for the entire race to come. After a fast descending start, a technical uphill section may determine how the stage plays out.
The best early mark to shoot for would be set by Geraint Thomas. The newly Garmin-Sharp rider likely aiming to do well in this Paris - Nice, though he may end up helping Ryder Hejsedal if the climbs later in the week present problems.
American Champion, and BMC's biggest hope for this tour is Tejay Van Garderen who would also have a good day, but not be able to crack the top 5 and possibly lose some valuable seconds.
Renowned time-trialist Tony Martin (OPQS) would give everyone a new mark to aim to beat, and perhaps is laying the foundation for his own aspirations in this race. Another longer TT awaits and perhaps a chance to really add time into his rivals. He will have to be focused on the climbs though to stay close enough to have a chance.
The stage winner though is Edvald Boasson Hagen. The Norwegian put in a great ride and is possibly setting the stage to hold onto the yellow jersey all the way to Nice. Like Martin he will have to be very focused on the climbs as there are some better than him in the field, but with no mountains he has a shot.
