The team going hard in Portugal Pfft

Just noticed something interesting...
Simon Holt is actually an existing cyclist. I didn't even know that. Wink

Coppi & Bartali is hard to win if you aren´t in the lead from the start.. or win that tt.. Alentejo seems to be the perfect race for Projob.. well done there. Wink

Thanks a lot. The team is doing very well!

As you may have noticed I haven't updated a lot lately. School is taking a hell of a lot of time. The next stage will probably come Saturday, or earlier if I have some time and energy left, both aren't the case now unfortunately.

Sorry for the delay, but school really was more important. Anyway, here's the final stage of Coppi e Bartali. Probably tomorrow the end of Alentejo

Race report

7 riders make it into the break today. Saramotins and Pal the most prominent riders here.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0660_zpsadbe1f2e.jpg

Both the pack and the break take it relatively easy. We have no battle for the sprint and the first mountain points.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0661_zps49d3b940.jpg

On the short hills Bongiorno and Rovny are dropped! Perhaps a new rider on the podium today.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0662_zps28af2b80.jpg

On the other categorized climb Hulsmans attacks. With a gap of 4min40 with 25kms to go a victory for the break seems likely.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0663_zpsfc810e81.jpg

It will definitely not be a mass sprint though. Purito is one of the attackers. Cunego, invisible up to now, tries as well.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0664_zpsa664f0d8.jpg

While Van Garderen manages to catch Purito, it's Peter who tries to get rid of the other escapees with 10kms to go, just before the top of the final climb.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0665_zpsf2d228ba.jpg

With 2.5kms to go, it seems a battle between Peter and Saramotins. The Latvian champion gets a little gap.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0666_zps3bb264f5.jpg

With 1 km to go both have launched their sprints.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0667_zps7e9c1283.jpg

At the finish
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0668_zps342db2f0.jpg
Saramotins is clearly stronger. A second place for the young Norwegian is not too bad though. As a small compensation he climbs to place 5 in the final GC. How nice is that for him!

I hope Fatbardh is mates with Pal because that guy is going places. WinkSmile

Which of the riders have increased in attributes most so far. Wink

Selwink
@The Rider: I'll show by the end of the month, hopefully something has changed.
@All: Thanks. Only a stage win would have made it just a bit better.

Weather
What did you think? That it would change? It didn't, the weather is still very nice.

Race report

At the first ascent of the climb we have a break of 7. Janssens is the first to reach the top.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0671_zps40c27695.jpg

The eventual break of the day consists of 9 riders.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0672_zpse8cdf268.jpg

At the 2nd climb, Broers is first. At the 3rd, Janssens wins again. At the final climb, Schachmann wins. This means Björn still leads the mountain classification.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0673_zpsd1f2b17f.jpg

With 7kms to go, the last escapee, Broers, is reeled in.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0674_zpsb70d38ea.jpg

Due to the hill in the end, the sprint will be very unorganised.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0675_zpsd97ce6e8.jpg

With 800 meters to go, anything could happen.

But who would have thought of this? Cronshaw wins! What matters more is that Björn wins the final GC!

What a Great Overall victory for Björn Arvid Grin

Selwink
@Shonak: Nice to see Björn credits the team as well
@sutty: Yes it was Grin

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, school may not have taken much time, but it did take a hell of a lot energy, so I had literally no energy for even writing a preview. Anyway, here's the next.

Stages

Stage 1
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0669_zps3a5b38ae.jpg
We'll start with a flat stage. The cobbles are far from the line, so it is likely to end in a sprint.
Report

Stage 2
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0670_zpsa3d96d8c.jpg
The ITT might be crucial for the GC. There are at least some differences made today, but the question is how big they are.
Report

Stage 3
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0682_zps6a761d61.jpg
Another flat stage, this time without cobbles. A sprint seems inevitable for today.
Report

Stage 4
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0683_zps86d142e5.jpg
The final stage is also flat, and again there are cobbles. The hills might cause more trouble though.
Report

Our squad
Armin Berg-Hansen will be a domestique here. He might stand a chance in the ITT though.
Peter de Groote is one of our three leader options. If the cobbles don't make a big difference, he will try to go for a good result in the ITT.
Jonas Ek will be an important rider here. He is likely to pull on the cobbles, as he won't achieve anything in ITTs or sprints.
Johnnie Flodder however is capable of doing fine in sprints. He will be one of the leaders if the cobbles and ITT don't do much damage.
Fatbardh Haxhi is our final leader option. If the cobbles prove too much for Peter and Johnnie, he will lead here, as he also has a strong sprint.
Khieu Tet Khamphan is likely to get the same role as Jonas. He unfortunately also lacks TT qualities and sprint qualities.
Taeke Roorda will be domestique here. He is good in the TTs, but will mainly be of use on the flat.
Ásgeirr Silferberg will be another domestique who might do well in the ITT. A good result there should be possible, looking at our squad.

My prediction
It could be anyone. Who knows what's about to happen. There isn't one real favourite to indicate. Hopefully we can surprise as outsiders
