@Ian - Indeed it is
@Sutty - My favorite movie of all time
Act 3: The Imposter
Scene 22: All Good Things, Part V
Now I can make it five times. In my mind I cannot believe it came to this point. I know doping was “wrong” but if you admit that properly then you get caught or you stop. And I’m no longer sure which is worse, as either way your career is done. I still can’t explain why I kept going after the Nationals last year.
Mostly it has to be because I was angry with the team and with Malcolm. I wanted to show them what they were missing, what damage I could do. At times I wished I got caught so I could take him down with me. Then when I was with Motorola in the US I kept going. By that time it was a habit. I doped, I trained, I raced well. So I doped, I trained and so on. The success was amazing, it was something I never felt at Node4, even in the good days I had there.
I screwed it all up. That is the harsh truth. At the end of the day everything was my fault. I’d walked out. I’d closed myself up. I’d got caught. I’d doped up. I’d walked away. I’d over-slept. Over sleeping. Who’d have thought over sleeping could change a life quite like this. Lucy had only wanted to help me. Her question was even a valid one, “What would my Dad think of me now?”
That question has been running through my head for the two weeks I’ve been gone. The answer is not the one I would like. Obviously he would be disappointed for me. Not in me, for me. He always supported me, and he always tried to teach me how to be a good person. That would hurt him the most, how I’d treated other people through this, especially Lucy. But he isn’t here and I’m on my own.
On my own standing at Lucy’s door. I don’t have a big speech. I don’t have a huge gesture of love. All I’ve got is hope. Hope that she can forgive me and help me. I love her. These last months she has been my whole world. It’s a lot of pressure to put her under but it’s the way things are. I can only hope she sees through the mess that is my life and forgives me.

Hope Lucy can forgive Karl here, but i'd be surprised if she'd let him get away that easily after just dissapearing for two weeks.

@All - The penultimate scene should answer those comments. Act 3 will end today!
Act 3: The Imposter
Scene 23: All Good Things, Part VI
“Lucy! Lucy! Please come to the door Lucy!”
“Karl…. I…. …..”
“I love you Lucy. Everything you said was true. I’ve been closed and insular. My Dad would be disappointed for me. I want to talk Lucy. I want to tell you everything. I love you and I’m sorry I walked away. In fact I’m just sorry, sorry for everything.”
“Karl… We need to talk Karl. Seriously and properly.”
“Yes that’s what I said. I want to tell you everything Lucy. Just tell me what you want to know.”
“No Karl. You don’t understand. While you’ve been gone I had some time to think, and well... This is gonna be tough..."

No, "We need to talk" is normally only said in a happy contest.
But seriously, this is going from bad to worse.

@Jak - Am i ever that obvious...
@Dippo - It's certainly a bad spiral
@Sutty - In 2 weeks? That would be horrible
@All - WARNING! This gets very heavy at the end. Some of you will not like it and that is understandable. If it causes any problems i will answer any questions or talk about it with anyone.

Holy shit. If this is going (or if this has ended) where I think it's going/ended, this might very well turn into one of my favorite stories just by a couple of reports

I'm really "enjoying" the latest updates, just because i can feel with Karl's feelings and thoughts here. Not that i had similar experiences, but more like "hell, yes, if your entire world is broken, how else can you feel?"... Especially as it's all his fault and causes so many sh**t.
So if i get it right, this is the end?! Kinda like that it's still open, but i will imagine my own personal final final's end great stuff, also because it's heavy

No way that TMM is going to make it this obvious (or i am going to be disappointed). I expect at least 5 more reports before an actual end.

That was the last update I thought, you know, wasn't that the point. Or am I mistaken. In which case it would be better if you left it, but then, who knows, a surprise coming? |

Maybe he just went pearl-diving or something.
I do very much like the way this is going, makes it a very interesting story to follow.

Spoiler @ Jesl - Afraid so
@ Ian - More shocking than Stijn?
@ Sutty - Took me so long to find just the right pics
@ Hobbit - Too late. A surprise... well it would have to be epic...
@ tsmoha - Well I tried to make Karl a real person, and sounds like it worked. You can add in what ever details you like the ending, it's hardly a pretty one no matter what
@ admir - I'm not that obvious
@ Dippo - Always looking on the bright side
@ All - If people look out enough you can find out if this is the end or not. And nice to see it went down well with people. Was worried it would be a step too far for a nice internet forum.
Now on to my next idea... or on to Act 4... or take a break... Guess you'll all just have to keep watching
Act 4: Saving Grace
Scene 1: Intervention
“You know it’s not worth it. Jumping I mean. Not as great as it’s been made out to be. Besides from this height it wouldn’t kill you. Broken bones for sure, maybe paralysis, but not death. Not enough height so you wouldn’t gain the needed speed. Then there’s the current, it’s flowing in now and would carry you onto that beach in about 5 minutes. Natural buoyancy would keep you upright until then, even with broken bones. Finally with the number of boats passing by the chances are more likely you’d be fished out inside of 2 minutes so you wouldn’t drown even if you wanted to.
So until you start thinking I’ll stand here with you, because it is not worth it, just absolutely not worth it. I’ll stand here and wait for you.
I guess you’re not going to respond to me so I’ll keep talking. Want to know how I know you won’t die? I tried it before, off this bridge. I jumped, broken 3 ribs and my arm, before being picked out by a couple of people in a sailing boat after 2 or 3 minutes. The worst part was that feeling of failure. I couldn’t even kill myself properly, how pathetic. Except it’s not pathetic.
Don’t take me as religious or anything, but there is a reason I didn’t die I’m sure of that. And every day I walk across this bridge as a reminder to myself of that. That I have a purpose and a life and reason for being. I see the same with every other person crossing the bridge, they all have meaning. Not everyone knows theirs all the time, but it will come.
I’m still waiting for my reason, and I might as well wait here with you for yours, Karl”

Nooooo, noooooo, something which involves looking closely. Well, you wouldn't have that if it was the end, right? |
