DEBUT
Hi everybody! After some traning rides, it was finally time for my first professional race: the Tirreno-Adriatico in Italy. A WT stage race of 8 days, with a TTT and a TT. Let's see what I can do. The first stage was a TTT. We finished 10th, could be worse. The next 2 stages were all mass sprints, so nothing to worry about for me. I lost time on the tougher stages 4, 5 and 6. Stage 7 was the reason I came here, a short TT. I finished 47th, not bad for a first time!
Stage 1 (TTT): 10th (+ 22)
Stage 2: 77th (s.t.)
Stage 3: 68th (s.t.)
Stage 4: 106th (+ 16'05)
Stage 5: 118th (+ 18'16)
Stage 6: 150th (+ 23'12)
Stage 7 (TT): 47th (+ 47)
GC: 133th (+ 52'12)

Only darkness in race to the sun!
We went to France with some small ambitions. We put our faith in Ivan Basso to get our goal of a top 10 in the General Classification. We failed. There were 28 better riders than Ivan. For the sprint stages we took Elia Viviani with us. But Elia isn't in good shape either and his best finish was a shameful 17th. It certainly is a very bad beginning of the season for our team and we have had no signals yet that it will be better later on.

Solo victory for Cancellara, Sagan third.
La Primavera always makes for an interesting race and this edition was no different. We came here with our strongest team, looking for the win. We took control of the race right from the start, but when Cancellara attacked right before the Poggio, nobody was able to follow. Sagan did not try either, despite being at the front of the peloton. Cancellara powered away and went solo to the victory. Sagan finished 3rd in the bunch sprint, being beaten by Greipel. Overall we are sad we didn't win, but still very happy with the podium place.

Boonen wins, Križan not strong enough.
Another Belgian classic on the calendar for us. After a weak perfomance in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, we continue our Belgian calendar with Dwars door Vlaanderen. No Sagan here, as we want to give Križan a chance to shine too. While we didn't have big expectations from this race, we hoped Križan would give us something to cheer about. No such thing though, as our team continues with some bad form. Križan would finish 16th with nothing to show. Boonen was the strongest and solo'd to the victory.

We went to Corsica with Ivan Basso as our leader. While hoping for a good result in the General Classification, it was not of huge importance. Mainly we were hoping for a good result in the Time Trial and the Mountain stage. Our riders surely delivered. Although Basso struggled a bit when Spaniard De Las Campos laid down an excruciating pace on the peloton, he managed to recover and finish a nice 6th on stage 3. We were most excited about Silvio here, who performed extremely well after a quite disappointing Tirreno - Adriatico. He showed his TT-skills with a 7th place, only 14 seconds down to Wiggins. He also finished in the top 50 on stage 3, which shows he can also climb a bit. We are very pleased with his progress so far this season.

FIRST PART OF THE SEASON REVIEW
Hi everybody! Sorry for not posting lastly, bbut I was busy training, traning, and some races. I will now catch up on everything I haven't told you about. So that's Milano-San Remo and the Criterium International
Milano-San Remo
I can be short about my performance. I finished 5 and a half minutes behind the winner (Cancellara solo). My team-mate Sagan finished third, only losing to Greipel in the sprint.
Result: 152th (+ 5'25)
Criterium International
A flat stage, a TT and a mountain stage. The recipe for this race in France. My main target here was the second stage, so I could show of my TT-skills. And to my biggest surprise, I managed to finish 7th in the TT, only 14 seconds behind Wiggins! I will beat him for sure in a couple of years! And I even came on TV (see below)! My nation is very proud, they will make a reality series about me soon! Unfortunately, I lack the ability to climb, but I still managed to finish 41th in the mountain stage!
Stage 1: 48th (s.t.)
Stage 2 (TT): 7th (+ 14)
Stage 3: 41th (+ 8'40)
GC: 39th (+ 8'17)
Points: 21th (9 points, -36)
Youth: 18th (+ 8'17)
European Championships
I hoped to get selected for this race(s), because the quality of the San Marinese championships are low, and the UCI doesn't allow me to wear the national jersey. So I begged my manager to select me for the Euroean TT Championships, which he did. And to my biggest surprise, I was also selected for the road race! I will do my best!

E3 Prijs Vlaanderen - Harelbeke, the first of 3 Belgian World Tour classics. We came here with the hope to compete for the win, but with so many favourites on the startlist and our recent results, we hoped for at least a top 5.
Since we do not have a very strong vobbled team, we were more than relieved that Koren got into the break, so we did not have to take part in the chase. When Boonen went with Vanmarcke with 5 kilometers left, we were a bit worried the race was over, but they were brought back and the sprint was on. We are very happy with the 3rd place for Peter. More disappointing though was the perfomance of Krizan, but it is most likely the lack of experience.
The next race, and last race of our early season, is Gent - Wevelgem. Our sponsors want us to get a podium place there. Good luck to all our riders.

Because there was no reason to celebrate when we finally got our first win at Strade Bianche. |

It is the end of the early season for our team and we finished it at Gent - Wevelgem. Our sponsors wanted us to finish at least in the top 3, which we thought was a very fair goal.
The race played out exactly to our strength. With Saxo - Tinkoff Bank and Radioshack doing most of the work to reel in the breakaway, Sagan was safely hidden inside the pack. Krizan got dropped with 60 kilometers to go, which is very disappointing again, but we hope he learns from these experiences. When the break got caught with 10 kilometers to go, everything pointed towards a sprint finish. Peter was the strongest and gave the team our first World Tour victory. Huzzah!

Spoiler For some unknown reason the organisation did not have finish places after place 10, messing up this result overview. |
