@Jak - Could you imagine the bad luck if the two met?
@Sutty - Careful sutty
@Dippo - Everyone can hope so
Act 3: The Imposter
Scene 17: All Good Things, Part I
“Karl, can we have a chat?” Nothing good ever follows that kind of sentence… “Just talk to me for a bit ok? Something’s not right with you is it? You slouch around, you barely say anything, barely eat and it’s starting to worry me. I love you, really I do! But we still haven’t really talked about what happened.”
She was right, we hadn’t talked about my actions at all since July and it was now October. “Well what more do you want to know? I took PEDs and got caught. Then I got banned for 2 years. Then I got sacked, lost my flat, lost my training gear and all my possessions. Then I got my racing license permanently revoked. What more is there to know!”
“I didn’t want to know before. I loved you and trusted you. I believed you wouldn’t do anything like that without good reason, and any reason good enough for you would be good enough for me. But now I doubt that.”

The pic started working as soon as i quoted your post and previewed it. As in now it works in the original post too. Very weird.
And it doesn't look good indeed for young Karl, i wonder what happens next?

@Bad for Karl - Yep...
Act 3: The Imposter
Scene 18: All Good Things, Part II
“Lucy, what are you trying to say?”
“I don’t really know. I don’t like this version of you. I want my fun, passionate and driven man back. The man who was not scared to take on a whole team by himself. The man who would deny a Tour de France champion a national title, twice. The man who would gamble everything on a new country. The man who loved Banana Bread! Banana Bread Karl, what happened to the Banana Bread?”
“It was all a lie Lucy. The fighting, the championships, the moving… the Banana Bread… A lie. I lied to you, I lied to Phil, I lied to everyone. That cannot be undone. It cannot be forgotten. There is nothing left for me anymore. My dream is destroyed. My family is gone. Everything I had and held dear to my heart is no more…”
“Me? What about me? Do you not love me? You proposed to me Karl, we are going to get married!”

Banana Bread
Act 3: The Imposter
Scene 19: All Good Things, Part III
“I guess, yeah”
“You guess? That’s about the most decisive you’ve been in a month! I’ve been trying to get you to open up for weeks Karl. This is the best conversation we’ve had in that time. And it’s hard to keep going like this. What would your Dad think of you now?”
“My Dad… You are going to use my Dad as high ground here?! Fuck you... My dad doesn’t think anymore. He died! Lucy, he died. He’s dead and he is not coming back! And you are going to use him against me. Fuck you Lucy!”
With tears in my eyes I push past her and straight out the door. Quickening my pace I speed off into the night through the nearby park. Behind me I can hear Lucy yelling into the darkness but, frankly, I don’t care.

@sutty - unfortunately real life isn't easy
Act 3: The Imposter
Scene 20: All Good Things, Part IV
“Please answer the phone Karl. Please talk to me. I said something that I shouldn’t have, I can see that now. It was mistake Karl, just a mistake. All I wanted was to find out what’s been happening with you, baby. I love you Karl. Just please let me know you are ok…”
“Karl, it’s me again. I’m getting really worried about you. It’s been days and I am so sorry. You’re scaring me Karl. I know life has been tough for you and all I want to do is help you. Anything to let me know you are still alive… Please!”
“Hey Cousin. It’s Johan. Lucy told me about your fight and that you’ve been missing for a week. She is really scared Karl, and so am I. When I last found you, it was on a pavement in the rain. I thought that would be the lowest I ever saw someone I knew. All I do is pray you are not back there Karl. For me, for her, for you, please call.”

Come on Karl. Call your cousin. Talk to Lucy later. Call Johan and tell him what's happening. If anyone gets it it'll be him.
(Unless you call Lance Armstrong but still )

@Jak - Family are always there to help, even if you don't always realize it
@Sutty - You can't tell with Karl at the moment though...
Act 3: The Imposter
Scene 21: First Time?
I’d only been truly nervous four times in my life before now. The first was when I was 15. I was in school and had a crush on this girl called Hannah. Some clever manoeuvring by our friends meant we both knew that we liked each other. Didn’t make things less awkward or scary when asking her out.
The second time was before my first pro race with Node4. The Volta ao Alentejo back in early 2012. I’d raced before obviously, but only in junior events in the UK. Maybe 50 guys on closed circuits and stuff with no pressure. That race was going to be something completely and utterly new and I was so nervous I threw up!
The Third time was the worst by far. It was the day my dad died. He collapsed during the podium ceremonials in Bristol at the ToB. I spent the whole night in the hospital with him and Mum. We didn’t know if he would be ok, and the doctors couldn’t tell either. For a whole night my Dad was in limbo and the stress made me nervous. I was nervous about what would happen if he died, about how I would cope.
The Final time was the day I asked Lucy to marry me. I totally loved her with all my heart. I’d been crazy about her since we met through the team in 2012. Hell we even dated for about a year before we got back together. All I could think was “What if she says no!” and it was killing me until she uttered the most beautiful word in the English language.
