Would be great for Jack if it is a small team like An Post, where he will have the time to grow and lots of opportunities to race for himself instead of working for others all the time.
Not sure how old Jack is at the moment (I thought 14), but I think it is a bit early to commit to a team already. Way too much pressure, when he just needs to enjoy his racing / training.
Seems a bit ridiculous that the dude can't tell his name, but I guess that is the world of sports for you.
Anyway, 4th is a great result for Jack. |

@Sutty That's what Jack is wondering too.
@mvhoogdalem He's fifteen now, and it's 2008, just so that everybody knows. And yes, An Post would be a great team for him. And it's also not about signing for anybody yet, just some sponsoring arrangements.
@Ian We'll see them rather soon.

Prologue:
The Offer
Two weeks later, when I had nearly given up all hope of hearing from the mysterious caller, I got an e-mail...
“Hi Jack,
I know it has been near two weeks since the nationals, but I hope we're not too late. We were very impressed by your showing at the nationals, and would like to offer you sponsoring arrangements for the rest of the season. Do you have any interest?
Colin Walker,
Head Scout for Pinarello Racing Team”

Would be stupid to not accept the offer. Does the offer also include travelling expenses or just equipment? He would be able to race a lot more, gaining more experience early on. |

@Sutty Glad you like the offer.
@Daggen Thanks mate. In the first post all the parts are linked up.
@Shonak Why so serious?
@mvhoogdalem A few travelling expenses too, for the bigger races. Yeah, gaining experience is very important for his developement.

Prologue:
The Offer, Take II
And that was that. I was over the moon. I would not only get new equipment, though I insisted on keeping my trek, but Pinarello would also pay some travel expenses, including to all the Youth Road Series races all over the country. Though I didn't have any team to support me, I was quite confident that I could get some very nice results in those races. All that we had to do was sign the contract. But then, the day before we were meant to meet Colin Walker and sign the sponsoring agreements, I found a piece of paper in the letter box...

It says, (I do believe)
'If this piece of paper could tell you a story, it would surely be of interest. Unfortunately, this is just an everyday piece of paper.

Hm, interesting. Another offer maybe?
I just noticed: That prologue is actually quite long.

I don't see how a piece of paper, with writing on it about a piece of paper, has anything to do with signing the contract. But I guess we'll see in the next update. |

@Welker & Admir That was the way it was meant to be
@Hobbbit Somehow yes, just sounds best that way. Actually, i didn't know myself what it said until you wrote it.
@Shonak Yeah, i should've called it something like Paris-Bordeaux , the ITT
@mvhoogdalem You'll find it all out in the next update, which'll. hopefully cometomorrow again.

Prologue:
The Offer, Take III
“Hello Jack,
it's been a while since we talked, but i'm sure you remember me. At least I still remember you, and I still want to sponsor you. We are willing to give you whatever you want, a new bike, new wheels, a time trial bike, travel expenses to every race you want to go to, the whole package. If your interested, meet me in Bachelors Wok, on Bachelors Walk, right beside the Liffey, next Saturday afternoon at 4 PM.”

Sounds very nice. However, Bachelor's Wok in Bachelor's Walk - hopefully this does not include a wedding proposal for young Jack.
