STRATEGY PACK - Career Mode Enhancements

[Information]
The Strategy Pack is a light but complete modification package for Pro Cycling Manager 2013. This package intends to fix some errors from the original game and bring modifications for more challenge in the career mode.
Here are the most noticeable changes in career mode:
- Equipment has bonus trends for each skill and impact is increased by 25%.
- No more training stage for temporary skill increase.
- 3D game difficulty is increased (except for extreme mode).
- Reduced free riders list at career start.
- Balancing of teams.
- Modified training table with more coherence.
- Less variation in skill progression depending on the rider's potential.
- More than 200 variants used (for world tour races and other races).
- New sponsors for custom teams.
- New playable national championships.
- New countries to detect young riders.
- New races: Copa América de Ciclismo (1.2), Topical Amissa Bongo (2.1), New Zealand Cycle Classic (2.2), South Africa Tour (2.1), Korea Tour (2.1), Colombia Tour (2.1)...
- [Option] Most of team time trial stages could be replaced with individual time trial stages, just keeping playable team time trials of about 20km.
- [Option] Modified Classifications for more coherence and challenge to win sprint and kom jerseys.
[Installation]
1) Copy "StrategyPack_Install.exe" file into your game directory (By default, this should be "C:\Program Files\Cyanide\Pro Cycling Manager - Season 2013" ) and run it for installation.
2) Copy database "StrategyDB2013.cdb" into your personal folder "Pro Cycling Manager 2013\Mod\Database".
3) In your game folder, you will have the following .bat files:
_TTTmod_Active_Change.bat: Run it to replace all team time trial races with individual time trial races.
_TTTmod_Retrieve_Backup.bat: Run it to reverse the above change, it will bring back all team time trial races.
_XMLmod_Active_Change.bat: Run it to replace XML files (Modified classifications and Young Riders Skills tables).
_XMLmod_Retrieve_Backup.bat: Run it the reverse the above change, it will bring back previous XML files.
Note: By default, after Strategy Pack installation, no modification is active.
4) Launch game and select StrategyDB2013 in game menu.
[Modifications]
Real names for teams and riders (season 2013) including Belkin team.
* Real mini shirts and shirts.
* Modification of equipment with bonuses trends for each brand:
(F) FLAT: Specialized equipment for flat.
(M) MOUNTAIN: Specialized equipment for mountain.
(B) BALANCED: Balanced equipment between flat and mountain.
* Equipment has wider impact (positive or negative impact increased by 25%).
* Increased equipment costs.
* Modification of young riders' skills (A bit less impressive skills).
* Few free riders at career start.
* New countries to detect young riders.
* Addition of riders' photos.
* Modification of the training table.
* Skill progression speed is a bit less function of riders' potential.
* Improvement of very weak riders and teams for more game balancing. Each continental team has now at least a rider with a 70 (or more) primary skill.
* "Cya Top Tour" replaced with "World Tour".
* Modification of game difficulty (3D race only):
EASY: +2 % skill bonus for opponents
NORMAL: +3 % skill bonus for opponents
HARD: +4% skill bonus for opponents
EXTREME: +5% skill bonus for opponents
* Replaces skill training stages with fitness or recuperation stages.
* Added variants for all World Tour stage races, 2.HC and championships and some other races.
* National Championships and World Championships do not give Continental/SuperPrestige points anymore since IA is awful during these races.
* Added new playable National Championships.
* Added races: Copa América de Ciclismo (1.2), Topical Amissa Bongo (2.1), New Zealand Cycle Classic (2.2), South Africa Tour (2.2), Korea Tour (2.1), Colombia Tour (2.1)...
* SuperPrestige points table modified (more coherence).
* Less scouted potential 1 riders (15% instead of 20% probability).
* More scouted potential 2 riders (25% instead of 20% probability).
* Modified XML Files for young riders (Less very good riders).
* Modified the interest of sponsors (The Sprinter jersey is a little more important than the KoM jersey).
* More than 60 nice jerseys for fantasy sponsors (See Credits at the end of this file).
* Rankings between 2006 and 2013 have been removed (No mix between IRL results and in game results). Database is also lighter with this change.
* Removed helicopter noise.
* Various corrections to database.cdb and local.cdb.
* Improved graphics (logos, banners).
[Options]
- Option to replace some Team Time Trials with Individual Time Trials (The Team Time Trials races will be saved through backup files in the process), just keeping the playable team time trials of about 20km.
- Option to use unified classifications (with minor exceptions for Giro and Tour de France)
These classifications will provide points table in a similar way than done for Tour de France:
More sprints points for flat finish and less for iTT finish. Doubled KOM points on mountain finish, less KOM points for 3 and 4 mountain categories.
(The previous XML files will be saved through backup files in the process) - See attached Excel file.

Version 1.1 update:
- Corrected SuperPrestige point table error for the 9th of the final ranking of a 2.1 stage race (Corrected value is 29 points. Wrong value was 39 points in the official database).
- Corrected 2 typo errors from French language strings (local.cdb).
- Corrected mini shirts for: Efapel Glassdrive, Mapei, Thuringer energy, Novo Nordisk, An Post, Atlas Personal-Jakroo.
- Corrected some race names.
- Corrected some fantasy sponsor names.
- Corrected accronyms (3 letters) for some teams.
- Modified training table with resistance training bonus set to 1 for all trainings (see included Training.png for details).
- Included file for Continental/World-Tour/SuperPrestige points table (See PCM13_Points.xls).

I've noticed a mistake in the local db. The game difficulty for "normal" is too high. Currently it's 1,2.
Either set it to 1,02 or name it "riding against a peleton full of Armstrongs"

Great that you found it, bigggassi.
My cyclists were winning when simulating but in the 3D game, all my riders were dead 20km before the finish line just by riding in the peloton.
Where can I fix it, Local.cdb or is it in the save? |

Where do you have modified the Local.cdb? In Documents or in the main folder of the game? Because if I open Local.cdb in Documents, I see in STA_race_difficulty that nothing has changed, and in GAM_database it says that has loaded the OfficialRelase database. On the other hand, if I look at Programs/Pro cycling Manager 2013/Database/Local.cdb I see that the difficulty is modified and Level 2 (Normal) is something like 1,2000... How can I fix it? I have also tried to change the values but I can't... I am using PCM Fast Editor. |

Here is the fixed local.cdb file:
-
Replace the file into your "database" folder from your game folder.
This fixed local.cdb will be included in the next strategy pack version.
EDIT: The fixed file is now included in the Strategy Pack.

Here some feedback.
The generated young riders might be overpowered. I signed the best two and they dominated the Continental ranking in their first year. The better one was injured for a month and still won the ranking by 200 points. (I have good trainers and a high development speed, but look at their stats at the 1st of January in the picture below.)
Look at Kentaurus XML files, as far as I know, he did quite some fixes.

Yes, Kentaurus XML files are nice. I should include them in the next pack version. I tried to decrease young riders stats but it may still be not enough as you pointed out, Lachi. |

- Minor Corrections or improvements.
- Fixed Normal Difficulty level (local.cdb)
- All fantasy mini shirts converted into the mini shirt template as used for the official teams (quick convert).
- Added some new fantasy jersey packs.
- Used Kentaurus XML files (V2) for young riders stats.
