NRS 2015/ Season's ending..
Ian Butler
Finally my loyalty to Earle seems to be paying off Pfft

sutty68
With Earle on this form the season is going to be hard for everyone else Frown

tsmoha
@Ian: Loyality always pays off... well, not always.. but it's a good thing Wink

@sutty: Yap, but we've seen him struggling before, so no reason to count his opponents off Pfft

THE TOUR DE PERTH MAKES FOR A FRESH NEW LOOK

What would be the best time to reveal a new shirt? Right, a new race on the calendar! And so the spectators at the inaugural edition of the Woodside Tour de Perth will see three top-teams riding with brand new kits.

Huon Salmon - Genesys, dominating team in the Mersey Valley Tour, will be on of these three, revealing a new design with the well known colors. Check out M133 Design's showroom for a closer look! This showroom is always worth a look, anyway.

Drapac Cycling will be the second team showing their fans a new shirt, which has also been designed by M133. The team, which struggled to compete with Huon and Budget in 2013, will hope for the same success as in the opening event, where Darren Lapthorne finished 2nd behind Earle.

And also Budget Forklifts will present it's new kit in Perth! So there will be whole new look for the top-teams and something to look forward to. Budget will hope for their riders to do better than Cupitt's 4th place in the Mersey Valley and why not celebrate the new look with a victory?

And of course the most interesting question will be, who's going to win the first Tour de Perth in the NRS, wearing the now revealed "maillot de jeune"! Stay tuned for this upcoming event in of Australia's most beautiful cities.

@admir: Thank you very much, Sir Smile It feels good to run this story, so words like that kinda help to keep this feeling alive!

@Ian: Thanks! I became a quite fast stagemaker through my PCM-years and the rather short NRS-stages ain't too time consuming, luckily Pfft

@baia: Well, mate, let's hope you will like the actual racing as well Smile

Will get the second preview online today, maybe even within the next hours!

The sprinters will certainly enjoy Perth Smile

@sutty: Well, yes. But so will the TTlers or puncheurs Wink

The startlist/
imageshack.com/a/img202/3281/h339.jpg
Most notable riders skipping this race/
Earle (Huon), Horgan, Cupitt (Budget), O'Brien (Euride), Norris (Jayco), Clark (Drapac), Paul Van der Ploeg (Satalyst), Bayly (search2), Spencer (Charter)

The Top-favorites/
[img-l]https://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/NRS_Portraits/NRS_Haig_zps8d12cd78.jpg[/img-l][img-l]https://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/NRS_Portraits/NRS_Platzhalter_zps31ed228a.png[/img-l]Jack Haig (Huon Salmon - Genesys)
Key stats/ HI 73, TT 72
With team mate Earle skipping this race, Haig should be Huon's undisputed leader. He's one of the best TTers amongst the favorites, a huge plus!
[img-l]https://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/NRS_Portraits/NRS_NeilVanderPloeg_zps9f1165f0.jpg[/img-l][img-l]https://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/NRS_Portraits/NRS_Platzhalter_zps31ed228a.png[/img-l]Neil Van der Ploeg (search2retain)
Key stats/ HI 71, TT 72, SPR 71
Van der Ploeg should be quite happy about the Tour de Perth: an ITT, two flat stages (including a rather hilly) and one road race for the puncheurs, that suits him!
[img-l]https://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/NRS_Portraits/NRS_Semple_zps6a7c539a.jpg[/img-l][img-l]https://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/NRS_Portraits/NRS_Platzhalter_zps31ed228a.png[/img-l]Adam Semple (Satalyst Giant)
Key stats/ HI 73, TT 67
Semple – born in Perth, says he's excited to see his home state back on the calendar: “To race in your own backyard in front of a home crowd – there's no better way to do it."
[img-l]https://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/NRS_Portraits/NRS_WiWalker_zpse14f53a2.jpg[/img-l][img-l]https://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/NRS_Portraits/NRS_Platzhalter_zps31ed228a.png[/img-l]William Walker (Drapac)
Key stats/ HI 73, TT 69
After an invisible Mersey Valley Tour for comebacker Walker, this race should suit his skills more. He will aim for the hilly stage through Perth Hills and could do well!
[img-l]https://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/NRS_Portraits/NRS_Anderson_zps7a324a36.jpg[/img-l][img-l]https://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/NRS_Portraits/NRS_Platzhalter_zps31ed228a.png[/img-l]Jack Anderson (Budget)
Key stats/ HI 74, TT 70
Anderson will definitely hope to fight for the GC-win here. Combining both TT- and puncheur-skills on high level, he should be able to grab at least a podium for Budget.
[img-l]https://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/NRS_Portraits/NRS_Carpenter_zps7e3d0035.jpg[/img-l][img-l]https://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/NRS_Portraits/NRS_Platzhalter_zps31ed228a.png[/img-l]Harry Carpenter (Euride)
Key stats/ HI 70, TT 73
With the abscence of his new captain O'Brien, he will aim for rather mountainous races, Carpenter should be able to have a shot at the GC, thanks to his TT-skills!
[img-l]https://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/NRS_Portraits/NRS_Morgan_zps9b958dbc.jpg[/img-l][img-l]https://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/NRS_Portraits/NRS_Platzhalter_zps31ed228a.png[/img-l]Alex Morgan (Jayco)
Key stats/ HI 68, TT 73
Should be amongst the very best in the ITT and will then hope for a not too selective hilly road race on third day. Has some decent support in Hamilton or Aitkin.
[img-l]https://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/NRS_Portraits/NRS_Wurf_zps678ac5a7.jpg[/img-l][img-l]https://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/NRS_Portraits/NRS_Platzhalter_zps31ed228a.png[/img-l]Cameron Wurf (Subway)
Key stats/ HI 71, TT 71
The veteran and last year's VRS champion is a decent allrounder, who showed some aggressive racing in the season opener. Perth should suit him better!

"I guess we're all pretty excited about this inaugural Tour de Perth. The crucial stages should be the ITT and the hilly road race, of course, but also the final stage looks quite tricky. Something our captain Neil Van der Ploeg loves!"

Carl Britten with a massive hairdo.

I think Huon will come out as the winner here, with TT machine Haig Smile

Surely that hairdo weighs too much

i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/Small_NRS_zps78b618b1.png Tour de Perth (Stage 1, Flat, 89km)
imageshack.com/a/img855/1562/qd09.png

The first edition of the Tour de Perth kicks off with a flat stage on picturesque Rottnest Island! It's the first chance for the sprinters this year, but we should expect some crosswinds, which could make for an interesting race!

imageshack.com/a/img844/2095/39k9.jpg

Only two riders managed to go for today's breakaway attempt:

Symonds (Bianchi) and
Stephan (Data#3)!

imageshack.com/a/img577/1310/nm6k.jpg

Halfway through the race, the peloton looks in control of this escape, limiting the gap and preparing for a possible bunch sprint.

Huon-Genesys (for Beckinsale), Pure Tasmania (Grenda) and Drapac (Davison) show their colors now.

imageshack.com/a/img833/8927/4e5a.jpg

The two escapees had no chance, but at least the South African Symonds will be the first KoM-leader in Perth.

We're already in the final lap now and heavy crosswinds (55km/h) lead to the bunch being stretched and also a split (with no major names being involved) looks possible!

Pure Tasmania's Martin paces hard with sprinter Grenda following, also Kerrison (Budget) and Beckinsale (Huon) are already at the front!

imageshack.com/a/img404/954/mtmm.jpg

The final km and the Tasmanian duo paced for a small gap just as the sprint kicks off!

Beckinsale, Johnston (Suzuki), Jones (GPM), top-favorite Davison and Kerrison try to hang on, let the battle begin!

imageshack.com/a/img36/1589/z9c6.jpg

Grenda entered the last 1000metres with a decent gap, but now he's already fighting hard to keep his pace!

Davison is nearing with a strong kick, while Kerrison struggles to keep contact!

imageshack.com/a/img689/848/zhvz.jpg

Davison is in the lead now and looks quite dominating, as Grenda suffers from his early move!

imageshack.com/a/img703/9449/lxoa.jpg

Davison takes it! Last year's 4th in the NRS and champion from 2012 proves his strength in the first sprint-stage in 2014!

Kerrison sprints for 2nd ahead of Jones, who completes the podium ahead of early leading Grenda and Neil Van der Ploeg.

So Davison will enter tomorrow's ITT here on Rottnest Island as the GC-leader, but we should expect some changes, as only a few riders lost time due a minor split in the bunch today.

Chanceless against Davison though Wink But i guess he will score more points for Budget than he did last season, so this is still a promising start!

Next stage should be online later today!
