October 2013 - Nominations
PCM13 - Daily RealName DB - One-Rider Story - 106 Posts This Month
Summary: Ian Boswell the Next American Great follows the Young American Climber in his quest to become the World's best GC rider. Ian rode for Team Sky, until the team folded after the team's leaders were caught using large-scale doping products. Ian then decided to sign with MTN-Qhubeka over Fernando Alonso's new team, Santander. In the Tour of Utah, Ian has picked up his first two career wins in the first five stages of the American Race, and is in a position to take the overall win, leading Matthias Frank by two minutes.
The reports are easy to follow and detailed. The 2014 season will debut a custom database featuring Team Santander. The story definitely doesn't lack in motivation and the pace of the story is increasing.
Summary: The time is March 2016. Team Novo Nordisk – SAS wins T-A and P-N by splitting up captaincy to attack with someone on every single chance. The team has the most depth of all, but no worldbeaters like most of the other WT-teams. The big goal of the month was for Breschel to defend his Sanremo wearing rainbows. We fought hard, but after three years with only four wins (three WC’s) Gilbert was suddenly back to his old self and stole Matti’s big moment of glory. He went on to win Dwars door Vlaanderen and helping Hagen to a win in E3. Now awaits the biggest of the classics.
The story shows how the future of cycling could look had the Nordic countries decided to undergo a venture to make their riders captains instead of Lieutenants. The Rise of the Underdogs you could say.
NRS 2014 By: tsmoha
PCM13 - Custom Man-Game DB - Series Story - 123 Posts This Month
Summary: The Australian National Road Series enters the year 2014 and a couple of changes had been announced: two new races, new teams and also new riders will make for an interesting season, in which defending champion Neil Van der Ploeg faces some tough competition. In the two first events this year - the Australian NC and the Oceanian Road Championships - Jack Haig (Oceanian Road Champ) and Jack Anderson (4th in Aussies NC, 2nd in Oceania) already proved to be a real threat for the NRS title race!
So if you are tired of watching Froome dominating Le Tour and Horner ruling La Vuelta or if you just want to explore a kinda different "world" of cycling beneath the well known professional divisions, the NRS is your place to be: it's neither a team nor a one-rider story - it's a Series story and you can pick your own favorite of choice.
Summary: We are now deep into our fourth and best season with 18 victories already and fast approaching the TDF. This season has seen the set up of our very own continental team showing we are a far cry from our humble beginnings. After a really successful Giro we have high hopes of a good showing at the upcoming TDF where the French will look to win again!
With a diverse range of storylines to add to the always graphically detailed race reports it is really enjoyable writing the story and replying to every comment. With cyclists in our system from Qatar, Kiribati and Sudan, all of whom have an interesting story we are one of the more unique stories out there. On the horizon financial disaster is looming so wholesale changes are set to rock us like never before, yet we have Qatar competing at the world champs to look forward to. Though you probably haven’t viewed the story before feel free to visit the thread and drop a comment any time day or night!
Summary: This month the Team started The Tour of Elk Grove in America with a Great TT victory on stage one thanks to Gary Sutton. Two more gutsy performances followed resulting in a creditable third place finish on the podium. The team then moved on to the Tour of Utah where more creditable performances from the guys resulted in a stage win for the Slovenian Jure Kocjan and another podium finish for Gary Sutton, this time as runner up. GP Camaiore in Italy was the scene of a second placed finish for Daniele Callegarin but a disappointing result followed at the Coppa Agostoni only for another second placed finish in Coppa Bernocchi for Alessandro Bazzana. GP Kralovehradecky in the Czech Republic got us a top ten for Daniele Colli. The guys are currently back in the United States riding the USA Pro Cycling Challenge where they are a having a torrid time.

New Story of the Month - Nominations
J.H.B. By: baia
PCM 13 - Daily DB - Team Story - 97 Posts This Month
Summary: There is still not much to say in this first month but i can tell you Jamis had one great training week in America... we started the season in Argentina with the Tour de San Luis and we had big hopes there with local matador J.J. Haedo but unfortunately things didn't go as planed. In Europe we are still missing good results but things will change. Our scouts are following some U23 riders, but we still lack in information about them so i can´t say much more then that.
Keep the faith, good results will come. We need your support.
Summary: Having recently picked up at the start of 2014, where it left PCM12 half a year ago, the La Pomme Marseille team are still just a few weeks into the season. Despite being new to the World Tour after spending the first two seasons working their way up from the Continental Tour, the French squad have already secured their first big stage race victory: the Tour Down Under with improving youngster Clément Koretzky. Hopefully there's more to come along the same path!
Starting out in 2014 rather than 2013 could be interesting, to see if any new contenders emerge in the biggest races. I'm personally very excited about the Tour, which should be very close due to Chris Froome and Bradley Wiggins's positive tests and subsequent suspensions!
Summary: It's classic TMM. This time it's all new, with the focus on Tom Lasnik an aspiring Brit found unusually in Roubaix chasing legendary status. As a new story it began with a lot of back story, which in this instance involved "The Week from Hell!" So far Tom has performed well above expectation beating some of the biggest names around, as he heads next for the Criterium International.
Each race report is a fairly normal live-ticker style covering all the major points and moments. After each set of stages in a report TMM includes a comment from Tom and gives both him and the team a rating. It's a nice little summary and builds the character. As usual with a TMM creation there are blogs from Tom, helping create him as a real person. A lot of building blocks have been set down, ready for future developments to grow from. The fullest New Story this month; it's classic TMM, so yes not perfect, but certainly worth at following.

Gotta love that Nordic cycling picture, tough one for me as to the story, but new story there can surely only be one winner. |

Since I wrote the text I have won Paris - Roubaix with a purely home-bred talent signed in the teams first year 5 seasons ago...
But thanks a lot for the nomination!

Disappointed to not see Ultimate Grand Tour Showdown in there. I guess not enough people did a write-in nomination yet for it to be nominated.
Oh well, time to divert my attention to other things.

There has been a little confusion about the write-in nominations.
For a write-in to be listed here they need to receive two votes (was 5 but I changed it). Therefore, don't come to me before voting even starts to influence a write-in. It's all in your hands when you vote. Once that story gets at least two votes I will include it here.
I hope that clears things up, if not feel free to ask me questions.
---
Voting after the first few hours is going well. But you don't have to rush your votes in, take your time read through the stories. They're all great.
I'm glad I don't have to vote...

That is why i dont vote, my so little time in the last weeks, i barely read half of them in quick manner. But this initiative is great and shame it was not around when i had more time to follow.
But everyone who gives his time to the story for the joy of the community is the winner for me, so congrats to all the nominees (and other writers too).

Its a Great honour to be recognised by my fellow PCM'ers and really gives me the motivation to carry on.
