While browsing and reading a few of the Tour of California previews,
I found my way to the Press Conference schedule for tomorrow. Or "Media Day" as American's like to call it; where riders and managers gather the day before an event and discuss tactics that probably won't be used. Fun times...
To my surprise, under Bissell's participates my name was listed!
Would have been nice for DS Glen Mitchell to give me a heads up on this,
but I can't complain it's an honor. Really, I'm a nobody. I'm still an amateur.
But that will all change two days from now when I hear the gun
go off signaling the start of my professional career;
a long time coming after all I have been through.
But back to what I was saying before, the press conference.
Please come stop by tomorrow from 10:00-10:25 AM PST to ask me
(or Glen Mitchell) questions, shake hands, get autographs, or simple just say hi.
It would be greatly appreciated.
I don't expect a huge turnout considering the BMC Press Conference
is scheduled right before ours but who knows. We will try our best to answer every question directed to us until our 25 minutes are up.
If you can't make it then, I'll glad read your comments, questions, or concerns
if you leave them on Twitter for me using the #AToCBissellPressCon.
Or for my less hip followers I'll take them by Private Message.
Here are the full details of the event below:
Spoiler 2013 Amgen Tour of California Press Conference
Bissell Pro Cycling
10:00-10:25 AM PST (10/20/13) - Live Discussion Will Be on This Thread
Can't Make It - 2 Options:
1. Twitter using #AToCBissellPressCon
2. PM to Mresuperstar (Far more boring than option #1)

We will start by answering a question left for us on Twitter.
Alright, a nice easy question to get things underway. My goal is simple, stay in the peloton as long as possible. I've been given a free role so I just want to see how long I can ride with the big dogs. If it goes horrible wrong and I get dropped and lose a bunch of time I might considering getting into the morning breakaway.

Let's head back to Twitter for another question.
Thanks for asking, we had my schedule roughly figured out back when I had to leave the team due to a family issues but since then a few more races have been added to my calendar. So, after the Tour of California I'll actually be heading up to Canada from June 12-17 to ride the Tour de Beauce. Then a few days later I have also been added to the squad to ride the Tour of America's Dairyland. The rest of my schedule remains unchanged, and are listed in my objectives below:

Since we don't have any "live" questions yet...
Let's go back to Twitter for one last time.
I just got here so I really haven't had the time to look at the start list yet, Glen you want to take this one.
I see somebody hasn't been doing their homework... just kidding you been on a plane nightmare for the past few days I understand. As for the question, GC wise I expect to see Dan Martin, Fuglsang/Kangert, Andy Schleck, Albasini, and my dark horse is Janier Acevedo. Sprints it's going to be Sagan Vs. Gilbert, without a doubt. Hopefully our guys can just get some TV time and maybe a top 25 finish in GC would be cool.

Hi. My stats, or talent evaluation as Glen puts it, haven't changed since I finished my last race at festival. So they are:
With a +2 form bonus on MO, and +1 form on Hill.
Thanks for asking.
Supersitious... no way. I'm writing my story online as it happens and I often read previews and critics. Then again I have terrible luck, so maybe I should be...

How do you expect to accomplish your role in the squad this season, and how do you think that the season will be? For you, and the team.

If you are, then what superstitions do you have?
Nvm. What area of expertise will you try to focus on or develop later in your career? i.e. climbing, hills, sprinting, time trial, etc

Accomplish my role... um be the best teammate I can be. Do what Glenn asks me to do and eventually I will start to move my way up the ladder and become the leader. Hopefully *looks over at Glenn Mitchell*
You wish Travis. Just kidding... eventually we will get to that point. Just don't get injured. Or anybody in your family. Then we will talk about your role.
--------------
I change my underwear. That's just gross. Oh, and she isn't my girlfriend... yet. I see you have been reading my blog.
--------------
We have time for one more, question. Yes, you sir...
A question to The DS Mitchell:
What do you think Mr Newton will be able to achieve someday? Your team has been quite "patient" with his injuries and bad luck over the last years, so what makes you confident this was the right decision?
- tsmoha
Newton has the potential to be anything he wants to be. He is a work in progress, I have no idea what direction he is going to head in. Who knows what kind of rider he is going to turn into. Hopefully I get to see it first-hand for a long time to come. "Patient" is a understatement. But then again he had options when he recovered from his injury and he chose to stay with us. So we have trust in each other at this point. It's mutual. I'm positive we have made the right decision to stick with each other. He's a good kid with a lot of heart.
That's concludes Bissell's Amgen Tour of California Press Conference.
Thank you coming. Hope to see everyone at stage 1 tomorrow.
