[EPIC] BMC Racing Team
brewers90
i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/BMC_zps89efd04b.jpg

The BMC Racing Team is a United States-registered UCI ProTeam title sponsored by Switzerland-based bicycle manufacturer BMC.

The team was founded in 2006 but only joined the UCI WorldTour as recently as 2011.

Consistently ranked among the top 10 teams in the world, its roster includes the reigning world road champion Philippe Gilbert as well as 2011 Tour de France winner and past world champion Cadel Evans and 2012 Tour de France best young rider Tejay van Garderen. Two other former world road champions, Alessandro Ballan and Thor Hushovd, headline the squad that also includes past national time trial champions Taylor Phinney and Marco Pinotti.

With a mixture of rugged experience and talented youth, BMC Racing will hope to improve on a slightly disappointing 2012 season, whilst looking to develop the next generation of Swiss and worldwide talent.

Contracts

With the start of a new season looming into view, BMC Racing are still looking to strengthen with the ambition of being one of the top three teams in the UCI WorldTour this year. With 26 riders currently signed up, there are a couple of slots still left to fill in a squad which already contains some genuine world class talent. However, the manager would not confirm what type of rider he was looking for, nor whether the nationality mattered. All he said was that all applications would be considered.

"It's a once in a lifetime opportunity to be a part of one of the biggest teams in world cycling", said Peter Griffin. "If that's not enough motivation, then I don't know what is!"

Transfers

The transfer season has opened and BMC Racing now have the opportunity to finalise their squad for 2013. The management has stated that ideally, they will sign two riders to take the squad up to 28 riders. With the sprinting being a real weak area of the team, the scouts have already made contact with a young sprinter who is believed to be from Great Britain. However, not much more is known at this point, with the management, and in particular, their mysterious leader, Peter Griffin, keeping their cards close to their chests

Having missed out on their main target after he decided to go to Sky, BMC are struggling to find the two riders they want to complete the squad. The manager has been very forceful in trying to find a top sprinter but there are no more out there unfortunately, so all we can do is sit and hope that a sprinter comes up. The second rider is potentially already signed but confirmation is needed from the rider himself. Hopefully, we will have more news later today.

Transfers

BMC Racing Team have finally wrapped up their first signing having clinched the signature of young American climber Jordan Lewis. The 21 year old from Boston has signed a one year deal as a luxury domestique and will be spending the season learning from Cadel Evans and Tejay Van Garderen.

He was keen to play a part in the team's North American campaign and will hope to perform well in the WT races he takes part in, which will include the Tour de France.

We welcome Jordan and wish him the best.

Once again, BMC have missed out on a target after Dutch sprinter Willem Brouwers decided to stay at home and ride for Belkin Pro Cycling. With the number of top quality sprinters left down to 0, BMC may have to abandon our plan of bringing in a fast man and concentrate on other areas.

We have made preliminary contact with one or two riders and are waiting for the right moment to make a decision on the all important 28th rider. One thing is for sure, it's going to be a tough season with no leading sprinter. A lot of pressure now falls on young Brit Adam Blythe as well as old hand Thor Hushovd.

More news to come when we have it.

Schedule

BMC Racing Team have finalised their schedule for the first part of the season after receiving confirmation that all of our race applications have been accepted. This means that the team will be taking part in fourteen races up to the end of March.

The season will start with the Tour Down Under, as usual, in January, where the team will hope to get off to a good start, though we know other teams will send some of their strongest riders, as they look to pick up early points. Then, after a couple of weeks off, our classics team begin their preparations for the tough season ahead with the Tour of Qatar, a race where the team really hopes to perform in the TTT. The team's Middle Eastern adventure doesn't finish there though, as we then move on to the Tour of Oman for the first true test of the climbers with the now famous Green Mountain stage.

The rest of our races in the first part of the season take place in Europe, starting with two one-day races at the end of February, Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and the GP di Lugano. Both races are important, with Omloop the perfect prep for the cobbled classics a month later, and Lugano being a home race for our sponsor. Our next one-day race is in Italy, as we take a strong team to the Strade Bianche, hoping for a top five.

After that, two of the biggest stage races of the year are upon us, as we get stuck in to Paris - Nice and Tirreno - Adriatico. Our main goal from these races is to get a stage win in Italy but we hope for some good overall results in both, though we are by no means favourites. After this, the first monument of the season comes around, Milano - San Remo. With no top sprinter, this race will be a difficult one for the team but we believe we can achieve our goal of a top ten, with our strong men.

The month ends with the Volta a Catalunya, a race where some of the "lesser lights" will get a chance to shine, while our classics team are now right into the meat of their season, with the Dwars door Vlaanderen, E3 Prijs Vlaanderen - Harelbeke and Gent - Wevelgem. The manager has set a very tough goal of a top three in both of the WT classics, so the leaders must be in shape here. Finally, the Driedaagse De Panne - Koksijde rounds out this part of the season, a tough Belgian race with cobbles and a Time-Trial, which will allow the riders one last practice ahead of De Ronde.

BMC Racing Team look forward to starting the season, and hope to see you on the road.

Team News

news.velonation.com/Misc/Races/Other/Feature/original/SantosTDU_Logo11F.jpg

With the WorldTour season on the horizon, the now traditional curtain-raiser in Australia is just weeks away. So BMC Racing Team can now announce their seven-man squad for the race:

Adam Blythe
Stephen Cummings
Yannick Eijssen
Daniel Oss
Manuel Quinziato
Michael Schär
Danilo Wyss

The team hopes to get off to a good start with Blythe going for the sprints and Cummings and Oss attempting to mount a GC challenge. However, being massive outsiders could become a flavour of our season and this race will be no different.

This is going to be a great. Can't wait because this is the only BMC story that's active.Banana

brewers90
Apart from the fact that it isn't a BMC story. It's just a HQ thread for Ollfardh's EPIC game.

But thanks for the optimism.
