NRS 2015/ Season's ending..
Miguel98
My prediction was correct.

tsmoha
@Ian: Yap, especially his performance in the mountain-stage..

@Mig: Yes, the good old bonus seconds pretty much favored Neil Wink

The National Capital Tour - final category 1 stage race this year - was always expected to be a key race in 2013. And if that's true, Neil Van der Ploeg (search2) definitely delivered right in time! He scored 248 points just in this race (O'Brien scored 130 as second-best) and takes the NRS-lead!

O'Brien (Budget) scored valuable points as well, but he's now already 140 points behind VdP.. could this tour be the crucial race this season? We will see: we still have the mountainous Tour of Tasmania, where O'Brien should be the top-favorite.

And don't count the sprinters like Luke Davison (Drapac) off: he's still sitting on third in the rankings and with two flat classics (including the prestigious Melbourne to Warrnambool) remaining, he can score the needed points.

Search2retain also scored big time in the team's rankings, so the team may join the battle of the very best squads, where Budget re-takes the lead with a small margin.

Go Van Der Ploeg!!! Btw, are you going to reccomend the Van Der Ploeg brother's to the MG for next season?

baia
J. Beckinsale must and needs to win some points for Huon on those 2 flat classics if they want to win Teams Rankings... search2retain might overtake them and threat Budget Forklifts...
Might be too hard for L. Davison to hold that 3 place in Individual Rankings because of Tasmania...

miggi133
Alright... Huon needs to step up... BIG TIME!

tsmoha
@miggi: at least the individual's title seems to be out of reach now.. But of course everything's still possible!

@baia: well, Beckinsale did really well in the flat. Murray river, so he can do something special in the flat classics for Huon.. Davison, yes. He is likely to lose ground in tasmania now, but still one of only a few remaining NRS-contenders.

@Miguel: Smile i definitely wanted to suggest some riders for the MG. Just noticed that Smowz already posted a couple of guys from my list. So i don't know if i will add a few more, like the van der Ploegs. But it's possible, yes!

@sutty: Yap, but it's a close one between Huon and Budget, like the whole season.. plus search2 and Drapac joining the mix now Wink

Here some more highlights of the Capital Tour, and I hope I won't forget to post Davison's blog before we go on with the next races:

Luke Davison - There and back again..

"Hey guys. It's been a while since I slipped the NRS-leadershirt on, so now that I managed to grab the provisional lead for the first time in 2013, I decided to give you fans some impressions from my first days in the Subaru-colors this season.

The Tour of the Murray River went just awesome for me. Taking out two stages and a couple of podiums, plus winning the GC felt simply great. I knew this would be my last chance to join the NRS-title's contention, so I delivered right in time."

i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/NRS_blogs_Davison_capital_zps3691dea2.jpg

Wearing the Subaru-shirt always feels great..

"As great as the flat Murray River went, the Capital Tour was always expected to be much tougher for me.. okay, to be honest: the two flat stages suited me very well, so it was a good chance to score up to 50 points with two stage-wins..

But unfortunately, I didn't feel as good as I felt in the Murray River.. the first flat stage around Burley Griffin Lake went well, but I was hoping for doing better than finishing 3rd.. but Neil (van der Ploeg) was simply outstanding in Canberra. And now his lead in the NRS-rankings looks quite comfortable.. But of course I'm hoping for some big scores in the two remaining flat classics!"

i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/Launceston_header_zps4adc525b.jpg

The NRS is heading for Tasmania, where the next two races will be held. Formerly the Launceston to Hobart Classic, this event has a long history – nearly 80 years since its inception.

After Departing Launceston, the classic follows a course through Pateena, Longford, Cressy, Poatina, Arthur's Lake, St. Patrick's Plains, Steppes, Bothwell, Berridale, Hollow Tree, Rosegarland, Gretna, Hayes and Lawitta before finishing in New Norfolk.

At 208kms, taking in a Category One hill climb to rival most European climbs, it is no wonder the event is getting known as the "Hell of the South". The profile surely suits the puncheurs most, so anything but a selective race would be quite surprising.

The climbs may lead to several attacks..

..and the slightly uphill-finish may lead to surprises..
