@All - Bad day indeed, hopefully he can come back stronger and make something of himself!
TOUR DE SPIRAL STAGE 5: LOST AND ALONE
Whilst I didn’t receive a life-time ban I knew that it was over. My career would never recover from this…even if I came back I would never reach the level I wanted too. I mean I loved football…but I wanted to be at the top. I wanted those European nights and International caps. As far as I was concerned this was it…finished…done with. I would never kick another ball as a professional. With no direction in my life and my dream gone up in smoke I was left confused and bitter, what was I too do with myself now…luckily I came across a Russian who befriended me…he helped me in my hour of need…he picked me up when I was down…he was someone I was going to come to rely on.. |

@All - I am liking your guesses folks, though some a little bit on the darkside (NTTHRASH I am looking at you). You'll have to wait until Sunday to find out as I am now away for work on the weekend.
Just to continue saying thank you all for your comments, good to know people are following this. I do worry when I see comments upon comments in other stories and then mine! But there we go I shall plough forward with determination. |

No, no, Ian, the whole of Russia shares one cow.
And thanks for singling me out as the dark side. It's like I wouldn't give you cookies!

Ok back from my weekend of work so here comes the next part. I will try to get a couple out today to catch up, hopefully that will appease those who have been waiting in anticipation, if anyone has! Oh and yes that includes those on the dark side
TOUR DE SPIRAL STAGE 6: WHEN YOU NEED A FRIEND
His name was Русский Стандарт or Russian Standard as I liked to call him. Everywhere I went he came with me, I couldn’t have asked for a better friend. I knew it was a dark route to go down but I didn’t care. In my eyes I had nothing going for me. At least this eased the pain!! Booze and clubs…that was my lifestyle. In the midst of an alcohol fuelled evening I could live in my own bubble…I may have been known for all the wrong reasons but I was at least known and for 4 months I traded on my former glory..not surprisingly whilst people hated me they were happy to take my money. Like anything..it could only go on so long… |

TOUR DE SPIRAL STAGE 7: WAKE UP CALL
After drinking myself into an abyss for months on end my body finally gave way…one drink to many on another all night bender. One minute I was standing on the dance floor, vodka in hand, the next I felt a thump as my body sunk to the ground…I didn’t know what was happening…the room around me got smaller & smaller until darkness..
I awoke blurry eyed, as I strained to lift my eye-lids a glaring light filled my senses. It took a moment for my eyes to adjust. My mind was blank as I tried to take in my surroundings…it was a hospital of that I was sure, but what was I doing here and how long had I been out for. As I strained my head I noticed some familiar faces, it was my parents. |

TOUR DE SPIRAL STAGE 8: CHECKOUT
This was the first time I had seen or even spoken to them since the day the news broke of my match fixing…I was anticipating an awkward tension but quickly released that wasn’t going to be the case. Whilst I am sure they wanted to lecture me they knew what I needed at the time was their support. I was quickly filled in on what had happened. The drinking had taken its toll on me and as a result I was here, I had suffered from alcohol poisoning and had been out of it for 6 days. Lucky to be alive was the prognosis and even luckier to have suffered no lasting effects. Something had to change; my life was out of control…the answer to my problems had already been decided…
Two days later I was checked out of hospital, not without a severe warning about just what I risked if I continued on the path I was travelling. As I approached the exit door my parents said a tearful goodbye, I was confused. Here I was, recovered and ready to move on yet they were upset. Had I missed something?

Crazy and now broke!! Not great for the youngster! Lets see if he can't sort his life out!
Hopefully people are still reading this, comments have dried up so I am a bit miffed, however for those who are don't panic the story will get into cycling all in good time.
Thank you to all still paying an interest, should get another 3 or 4 parts up tomorrow. |

@welker3257 - He is indeed. Who may you be referring to
@Ian Butler & Cycleman123 - The pitfalls of fame and fortune, lets hope he learns his lesson.
TOUR DE SPIRAL STAGE 9 - BETRAYAL OR GUIDANCE
I soon learnt why they were so upset. They had decided to conduct an intervention, my problems had clearly affected them and they made it clear in no uncertain terms that they could not stand and watch my carry on like this. I had two choices either enter rehabilitation or they would cut me off. I was angry and hurt by their betrayal, why would do this to their own son?
I knew I needed help but that didn’t matter, If I could of I would have walked out there and then…but if truth be told I had no option. I was penniless and homeless, what fortune I had was gone. Blown on booze, sucked dry by hangers on and wasted on hotel rooms to avoid the glare of the media during the whole ’fixgate’ affair. Bitter and enraged I informed them I would enter rehab…I left without saying goodbye…stepping out of the door and on my first step to what I hoped would be recovery. |
