Trofeo Laigueglia
Hello and welcome to the first race of the new Swiss Cycling Project by Tissot!
Today’s race is ranked as a 1.1 Category and has a couple big climbs.
We had the chance to talk to Sébastien Reichenbach just before the race. Let's hear what he has to say:
"This is the first race for us as a brand new team, and even though we trained a lot together in the last couple months, it's always different in a race setting.
For us this race is more of a general test to see how good we work together, and as individual riders. Our goal is to finish in the main group and get some racing km’s into our legs for the upcoming more important races.”
Modest goals it seems for today. We will see if that’s what they are up to, or if they got any trick up their sleeve…
Quickly after the start a breakaway of 7 riders forms. Tissot was attentive and sent Schelling into the breakaway. The quickly created a considerable gap between them and the peloton, peaking at almost 10 minutes.

But the peloton quickly halved the gap and continuously worked on reeling back the breakaway. With 35 km to go and a gap of just 2 minutes it seemed that the effort of the breakaway wouldn’t be worth it in the end. Nonetheless Schelling pushed the pace on those last climbs to keep the gap.
15 km to go and Schelling got reeled back into the peloton. Only Girodani (VIN) who was in the original breakaway and Tschopp (IAM) who attacked about 5 kms ago were still in front of the pack, but they too got caught just a few kms before the finish line.
Winner of todays race was Florencio (KAT) who managed to sneak away on the last hill and kept his small gap between himself and the peloton.
Reichenbach positioned himself very well for the finish and with his still fresh legs managed to win the sprint in the peloton and second place!

A great season start for the team and Reichenbach. Let’s hope we will see many more great results from this young Swiss team.

What a surprise to win the sprint with Reichenbach.
Wanted to launch him just before the sprint, but got stuck, so I decided: what the heck, let's just sprint then.
The following reports will be shorter and more to the point, like my last years story.

Beverbeek Classic
Welcome in Hamont, Belgium for this year’s Beverbeek Classic! The riders are all ready to go and the race is about to start. Today will be the second race of the season for Tissot. Let’s see if they can once again get onto the podium today.
Today the breakaway never got too far ahead as the peloton around Tissot controlled their lead.
With 15 km to go It was time for Fumeaux to try his luck. But with the extremely high pace of the sprinter teams he didn’t stand a chance out in the wind.
So it came to a mass sprint that was won by Haedo today.

The riders from Tissot couldn’t keep up the high pace and ended up as 16th, 19th and 20th today. Not quite what their goal was, but the season is still young and they will get plenty of chances to prove themselves in the future.

GP di Lugano
Welcome to Switzerland!
Let’s get right into the race:
Today the peloton lead by Astana and IAM did their best to deny any breakaway. The pace was very high and so early on no one could escape.
About half way through the stage Fumeaux tried his luck. With his short and quick acceleration he created a small gap between him and the peloton that he continuously expanded over the steep climb. He quickly gained over 5 minutes in advance. Everything was looking good so far, but he still had to climb that mountain twice more – all by himself.

One more lap to go and an advance of just 3 minutes… But Fumeaux looked spent.
Back in the peloton IAM, Astana and Cannondale worked hard to catch up and many riders couldn’t keep up with that high pace.
20 km to go: Fumeaux, got caught by the small peloton. He was just too spent to keep up this high pace.

Shortly after the peloton shatters into many small groups. Reichenbach is still in it.
With just 5 km to go and 3 riders in front Reichenbach launches his final attack…

But it was too little too late.
Ratto (CAN) wins today in front of Aru (AST) and Gadret (ALM). Reichenbach just misses the top 20.

Todays race started slow fort he peloton. Halfway trough the race a leading group of 5 created a gap of 8 minutes.

But the peloton worked well together to shorten the gap.
With just 10 km to go a couple of riders managed to get ahead. Reichenbach and Gross were in the second leading group just ahead oft he peloton. They did not manage to get back into the leading group and had to watch Velits (OPQ) taking home this victory.

Peter Velits, , awesome see him win!
About Reichenbach and Gross, shame it did not work to stick with the leading group.
At the other hand, for shine, they need some easier races
