Hello, welcome to this new story. As you already could have seen from the thread title, this will be a Giro being raced. The variant that will be used is the 2013 variant. The idea is that each team can only select 6 riders, so that the race becomes less controlled and less predictable. 24 teams will participate, of which 19 WorldTour. This means 5 wildcards will be given. These teams have obtained one: Androni Giocattoli-Venezuela, Bardiani Valvolve-CSF Inox, Colombia-Coldeportes, Vini Fantini-Selle Italia and IAM Cycling. My idea is that 24 members of this forum pick a team. Choices please through PM. Later on, each participant makes his own team presentation. I will do the other predictions myself afterwards. If you want to participate, please bring a realistic squad, as I might do the same thing with the Tour and Vuelta. As soon as everyone has a team, each participant can reserve a post for their squad presentation. Squads can be announced in the team post. I will race as a control team.
Database: PCM.Daily 2013 Database+latest stat update with a few modifications
In this post, I will post the teams, whether they already have a boss and later on their squad, as soon as every team has a boss.

Summary per stage
1: A flat stage, but the hill on the way caused some trouble for some sprinters. Degenkolb won and took the first Maglia Rosa. 2nd was Bennati, 3rd Modolo
2: A hilly TTT, won by Sky, ahead of BMC and Blanco. Astana loses much time
3: Another hilly stage, with two hills and a difficult downhill in the end. Ratto is the only rider of the break of the day to hold on and he wins ahead of the pack. Gilbert is the new leader.
4: Another difficult stage, with the Croce Ferrata as most difficult point. On the end, a surprising win for Basso after a sort of mass sprint in the downhill to Serra San Bruno. Gilbert remained in pink
5: A pan-flat stage due to some short hills in the end. A sort of bunch sprint was held. Degenkolb crushed his opponents in this sprints, bringing Argos another victory
6: A flat stage, that had to end in a mass sprint. The mass sprint that eventually came was surprisingly won by Ferrari, beating Guardini and Degenkolb. Kessiakoff ended out of time losing blue and Van Garderen lost white due to a crash
7: A hillier stage than those before. Even still, it ended in a mass sprint of a bunch of 63 hill specialists and GC contenders. Valverde was by far the quickest in this stage. Kelderman and Purito lost time
8: An individual time trial, of an enormous length. Froome set a difference of more than a minute to the rest. 2nd is Contador, 3rd Luis Leon Sanchez. No other major changes
9: A stage that was made for a breakaway to succeed. The break held its expectations and Michael Albasini took a well-deserved victory in a sprint-a-deux. No changes in GC
10: The first real mountain stage, which immediately set the favorites for the Giro. Hesjedal was the best in the sprint of the favorites, but Froome held his maglia rosa by becoming second.
11: Another difficult stage today, but a later break had the possibilty to succeed today. Brajkovic outsprinted Garzelli and Valverde lost almost a minute to the other favorites.
12: A flat stage, where normally the mass sprinters should exceed. This day however, a break of 4 riders managed to suprise the pack with a minimal gap. Taborre won the sprint of the breakaway riders.
13: Finally a mass sprint again. Some sprinters cant keep up though. The break was doomed today and Degenkolb crushed his opponents. As a bonus, he also takes the red jersey
14: In this difficult stage, a small part of the early break remained ahead. Westra managed to beat Tschopp, while Froome, Contador and Hesjedal take some time.
15: Finally a mountain stage again without a break succeeding. Ryder Hesjedal took an amazing solo victory, but Chris Froome was close enough to hold his maglia rosa
16: A stage that should be a transition stage turned out to be a real fight for the Maglia Rosa. Hesjedal won the stage and almost closed the gap to Froome, who now leads by just 11 seconds
17: A stage that ended into a pure mass sprint. A break didnt succeed and so the mass sprint was imminent. Cavendish came in the lead too early and was beaten by Farrar
18: In the mountaineous time trial, the stage win was for Ryder Hesjedal. Not only did he win the stage, he also took over the maglia rosa from Froome.
19: In this mountain stage Froome took victory. He outsprinted Hesjedal. This meant the difference was 0 seconds. The tension for the last stage keeps on growing, with one mountain stage left.
20: In the final mountaineous stage the GC was probably decided. After the early break was reeled in Hesjedal took the initiative a few kilometers from the line. He won the stage and took the Maglia Rosa.

TEAM GOAL
A stage win. Since Andy is aiming for the Tour and Fränk is suspended, the best climber we bring to Italy is Robert Kiserlovski, and it's unrealistic to try to finish in the top 5 with him. Hopefully Spartacus can finish on the podium in the flat time trial or get a great solo stage win. Nizzolo will try to perform some good sprints, and I also hope many of my riders will ride in breakaways and collect a couple of mountain points.
