@Pinktay: Thanks for the input! Have already edited some of the suggested stats in my DB. All of these stats are custom-made, btw. So it's obviously far from being perfect
@all: Here's a first blog of one of those riders, who will give some impressions during the season. Hope you like my choice. And please let me know, if there's any rider, YOU want to make a blog here!
[img-l]https://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/NRS_Haig_portrait_zps9dc4cb91.png[/img-l]Name/ Jack Haig
Team/ Huon Salmon Genesys Wealth Advisers
Born/ 6/9/1993
Height (cm’s)/ 190cm
Weight (kg’s)/ 68kgs
Strengths/ Climbing, Time trials
"Hi guys. The National Road Series and several other Australian road events are soon to start and I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Jack Haig and I ride for Genesys, one of the strongest teams in Australia. My personal goal for 2013 is to learn more about road cycling and improve my time trialing and climbing, of course I want to help my teammates to claim the NRS-title as well.
Our biggest hope this year is Nathan Earle. He finished strong last season (7th overall) and with Anthony Giacoppo leaving, it's his big chance to step up. I do believe in his skills, not only because he's one of my best friends at the team."
"That's me and Nathan preparing for our season debut at the Baw Baw Classic, a tough mountain classic. Nathan has alreay won it 3 times (2009, 2010 and 2012) and he's going to repeat last year's victory. It ain't a NRS-event, but some NRS-teams will participate to prepare for the season opener in Tasmania, the Mersey Valley Tour. He's also passionate about the race and said it's his favourite event, not because he's won it a couple of times but because it's exciting, incredibly challenging and different to all the other Australian races. Conditions are unpredictable and it's so hilly that you can never see further than 200m ahead, so you have no idea where the other guys are.
I'm also looking forward to it, of course. I love to climb and therefore that's a perfect kick-off to 2013."

Everything is looking great
Tim Roe's (Euride) MO and HIL stats could be a little higher. I'd think at least 68 MO.
Looking forward to see hoe Adam Semple goes for Satalyst.

James Meadley - Short review of the Bay Classics
"The Mitchelton Bay Classic Series 2013 was held as part of the ManGame this year, a pre-season event which saw both ProTour (Leigh Howard) and Contintental Tour (Chris Sutton) riders fighting for early season honours.
I was one of a few NRS-riders (like Adam Semple, Jai Crawford or Peter Hatton) to get a chance joining this mix of world-class cyclist, giving my debut for Budget Forklifts. After spending 2012 with the now already disbanded Australian Conti-team Eftel, I'm happy to stay in Australia and ride for a strong team like Budget."
"I tried my luck with a late attack in the opening crit of the Bay Classics, joining a group with teammate Cameron Wurf and Adam Hansen (Drapac).. Unfortunatelly, me and Cameron couldn't hold on to our small gap on the bunch, while Hansen did and finished 2nd behind Chris Sutton, who managed to win 3 out of 4 races in this Series!
It was great fun and even though it's already a couple of months ago, I feel pretty confident with me and my team. I think we can do as well as last year, even though Luke Davison left the team. But our new sprinter Jesse Kerrison is one fast talent, plus Mark O'Brien is definitely strong enough to repeat his 3 race-wins he had last year."
But first I'm going to ride the Baw Baw Classic, together with my mate Karl Evans, who should be one of the top-favourites there. A tough race it is, but I'm 100% motivated to take part.

Goal 2013/ Overall win Victoria State Road Series
"Hello everybody. I'm Rhys Gillett and I'm going to write a blog for this website in 2013. It's just about time to kick off this new season in Australia and I'm more than excited to get things started soon.
My personal goal is to win the Victoria State Road Series and therefore it would be great to win the opening classic Baw Baw. The tough profile should suit me, but as you may know, it's hard to predict a race like that.. of course I want to score some points for my team in the NRS, too."
"Me and my team just came back from a short training camp in Italy. A great trip it was. And I have to say: our shirt looks really cool, doesn't it? (I'm not the one scratching his butt, btw ..)
I will try to get a couple of blogs done for my most important races, and I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do. The Baw Baw Classic is soon to be held, so keep in touch!"

Team/ Oz Cycling Development Team
Future/ Stagiaire Oz Cycling Project (PCT)
Born/ 22/6/1992
Strengths/ Hills, Fighter
Goal 2013/ Top-5 Bowden Elite Series
"Hi guys. I'm Ethan Kimmince and just like Jack Haig and Rhys Gillett, I'm going to write a diary through this new season.
As a young rider I am, I still have to learn quite a lot in this elite races I'm heading for this year. The NRS is a great series and so I was so happy to join this series with the new founded Oz Cycling farm team."
"Even though we have a rather small roster, I think we can do well in some races. Especially Ben Grenda already proved his speed and should be competitive in flat stages or classics. Also our Kiwi Cameron Karwowski is an intersting allrounder, you better watch out for him.
My personal schedule for 2013 is listed below. I'm looking forward to the NRS events, as I haven't raced in Australia last year. I will try to attack as much as possible, but my biggest goal is to finish within Top-5 in the season-concluding Bowden Series, a South Australian event."
April - July | National Road Series | Mersey Valley Tour | | | Herald Sun Tour | | | Tour of Toowoomba | | | Adelaide Tour | | | North Western Tour | | | | Aug - Sept | Oz Cycling Project | Stagiaire | | | | Oct - Jan | Bowden Elite Team Series | 10 rounds |

Mt Baw Baw Alpine Ressort Classic
"Epic. Brutal. Beautiful. Great event!" - Shane Miller
The first race of the Victoria State Road Series and the first chance for some promising NRS-riders to prove their shape: Nathan Earle (Huon Salmon), Darren Lapthorne (Drapac) or Karl Evans (Budget) took the chance to take part and should be mentioned as the top-favorites. Also two of our bloggers (Jack Haig, Rhys Gillett) will start their season here, with Rhys Gillett (African Wildlife) being one of the favorites, too.
The access road to the resort, the Mount Baw Baw tourist road, features what is usually regarded as the toughest climb accessible by road bicycles in Australia. The final climb of 6.2 kilometres rises 718 metres at an average grade of 11.5%, maxing out at 20.3%. The race length is 102km.
Past winners/ | 2012 - Nathan Earle | 2011 - Calvin Watson | 2010 - Nathan Earle | 2009 - Nathan Earle | | | 2005 - Simon Clarke | | | 2003 - Simon Gerrans |
