The starting team in Portugal consists of only youngsters as this race isn't a priority for the team

That is still a strong squad, that should get a good GC result and probably a stage win as well

I can only hope for that. There are way better hilly / TT riders than Moser coming to Portugal Pfft

Tour of Qatar

Startlist:

A. Petacchi
M. Pelucchi
D. Cimolai
J. Castroviejo
E. Sanz
N. Oliveira
J. Vermote
S. Penarossa

Petacchi will be the leader of our team in Qatar. We're aiming for stage wins / podium places and a good GC position. Silvio Penarossa will make his debut as a professional cyclist here.

Stage 1:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Tour%20of%20Qatar/TourofQatarstage1_zpsd4b3138c.jpg

First stage of Qatar is a preview of what to expect from the other stages. Flat profile, meaning sprint finish. Our sprint train will need some polishing as A. Petacchi finishes 6th.

Stage 2:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Tour%20of%20Qatar/TourofQatarstage2_zps0fa230b6.jpg

Most likely the only stage not ending in a sprint finish. A TTT to define a lot of the GC. Our team was just amazing, just 1 second behind stage winners Pervyj.

Stage 3:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Tour%20of%20Qatar/TourofQatarstage3_zps5ace57b1.jpg

Flat stage. Sprint finish. A. Petacchi seems to be missing a bit of form and finishes in 10th.

Stage 4:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Tour%20of%20Qatar/TourofQatarstage4_zps560c23f0.jpg

Another flat stage. Another sprint finish. Great sprinting from both A. Petacchi and M. Pelucchi, getting a 2nd and 7th place. Great day for the team.

Stage 5:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Tour%20of%20Qatar/TourofQatarstage5_zps60f33493.jpg

Sprint finish. We got nobody in the break again. A. Petacchi found the right wheel and wins the first stage for the team and takes the lead in the GC.

Stage 6:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Tour%20of%20Qatar/TourofQatarstage6_zps3c61cdb2.jpg

Again, sprint finish. A. Petacchi didn't have great legs today and finishes 10th. Kittel wins the stage which means he wins the GC. Bad luck for us.

Tour of Oman

Startlist:

A. Petacchi
M. Pelucchi
A. Durán
R. García
G. Izagirre
E. Martínez
M. Landa
E. Sanz

The team leader is Petacchi again. He will be going for some podium places in the sprints. We don't expect much from the GC, but maybe one of our talents can pick up the young rider jersey.

Stage 1:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Tour%20of%20Oman/TourofOmanstage1_zps16cf5ed7.jpg

E. Sanz got into a 3-man break, but they didn't make it to the finish line as expected. A. Petacchi takes an amazing 4th place in the sprint.

Stage 2:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Tour%20of%20Oman/TourofOmanstage2_zps8a817fe3.jpg

We got no-one in the break on stage 2. The uphill sprint finish sees L.L. Sanchez winning. A. Petacchi comes in 4th place again.

Stage 3:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Tour%20of%20Oman/TourofOmanstage3_zps5b5d5b7e.jpg

Since we realised getting into breaks here is useless, we focused on the finish. In the sprint A. Petacchi shows some great form and bags a podium place, coming in 3rd.

Stage 4:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Tour%20of%20Oman/TourofOmanstage4_zps5aa58d0d.jpg

A somewhat hilly stage, no-one in the break. 4 riders get away from the peloton with 10km to go. They get joined by 4 more riders right before the finish, including E. Martínez. He takes a 7th place and comes in 8th in the GC.

Stage 5:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Tour%20of%20Oman/TourofOmanstage5_zps0ec6acd3.jpg

The only mountain stage in Oman. Someone of our team tried to get into the break, but failed. On the mountain, it's L.L. Sanchez that comes out on top again. E. Martínez finishes 11th, keeping his 8th place in the GC.

Stage 6:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Tour%20of%20Oman/TourofOmanstage6_zps3962c23a.jpg

Not a very good stage for the team. A. Petacchi is probably a bit tired from stage 5 and finishes 15th. E. Martínez finishes inside the peloton and moves up to 7th in the GC.

We are in 3rd position, which is a great start for the team. We have to thank R. Bardet for that though, since he scored almost all those points.

Le Tour de Langkawi

Startlist:

M. Moser
M. Pelucchi
E. Martínez
G. César Veloso
J. Castroviejo
R. Bardet

No real leader is being sent to Malaysia. Pelucchi will look to do something in the sprints, while Castroviejo and G. César Veloso will focus on the Time-Trial. Moser and Bardet will look at the hilly stage(s), while Martínez aims for the mountain stage. Anything could happen.

Stage 1:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Le%20Tour%20de%20Langkawi/LeTourdeLangkawistage1_zps4aeed7be.jpg

Le Tour de Langkawi starts with a 20.4km TT. Our eyes where on Moser and Castroviejo today. Moser got the 3rd place, 10 seconds behind stage winner Thomas. Castroviejo got 10th, 30 seconds behind Thomas.

Stage 2:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Le%20Tour%20de%20Langkawi/LeTourdeLangkawistage2_zps5dea184f.jpg

Not much happens. A typical flat stage. Break got reeled in and we went to the sprint. No surprise when Sagan took the victory. Pelucchi was our best rider with a 13th place.

Stage 3:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Le%20Tour%20de%20Langkawi/LeTourdeLangkawistage3_zps33871a27.jpg

Another flat stage, so we're expecting another sprint. Bardet got into the break and took 3 of the available mountain points. Sagan won another stage, while Pelucchi improved a lot and finished 7th.

Stage 4:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Le%20Tour%20de%20Langkawi/LeTourdeLangkawistage4_zps1595a229.jpg

The 4th stage also has a flat profile, so it will be another sprint. We got nobody in the break today, so we'll skip to the sprint. Pelucchi made the best of a messy sprint and finished 2nd, which is an awesome result from the Italian youngster.

Stage 5:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Le%20Tour%20de%20Langkawi/LeTourdeLangkawistage5_zpsd6e5b4e6.jpg

Stage 5 will most likely be another sprint finish. Moser attacks the GC with a late attack, but his attack didn't stick. He sprint to a 12th place, after the late hills drained most of the other riders energy.

Stage 6:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Le%20Tour%20de%20Langkawi/LeTourdeLangkawistage6_zps56b6576e.jpg

The only mountain stage in Langkawi with a mountain top finish. It should provide lots of action. But it doesn't. Martínez and Moser try to get a gap, but it is not meant to be. Kelderman wins the stage, Moser keeps his 4th place in the GC and César Veloso enters the top 10. Pelucchi misses the time cut, leaving us without a sprinter for the final 3 flat stages.

Stage 7:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Le%20Tour%20de%20Langkawi/LeTourdeLangkawistage7_zps84ab77bd.jpg

The only hily stage of Langkawi. Nocentini wins the sprint ahead of Sagan. They got a 43 second lead on the small peloton where Castroviejo sprints to a 4th place. Moser keeps his 4th place in the GC, while César Veloso drops out of the top 10.

Stage 8:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Le%20Tour%20de%20Langkawi/LeTourdeLangkawistage8_zps9e85679a.jpg

1st of the last 3 flat stages. Since we have no sprinter anymore, we're not expecting any results. Moser finishes 12th in a sprint, hoping to hold on to the 4th place in the GC.

Stage 9:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Le%20Tour%20de%20Langkawi/LeTourdeLangkawistage9_zps66cc35d3.jpg

Another sprint finish. Sagan wins again. Moser keeps the 4th place in the GC. Castroviejo is our best rider at 26th.

Stage 10:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Le%20Tour%20de%20Langkawi/LeTourdeLangkawistage10_zpsd868a765.jpg

Sprint at the finish line. Impey wins another stage for Team Cymru Wales. Castroviejo sprints to a nice 5th place. Moser holds on to the 4th place in the GC, with is a great result for him.

We really don't care for this race as our best cobbles riders are E. Favilli and I. Izagirre. Both have a skill of 71 on the cobbles. Belgian rider J. Vermote will return to his home country. It would be nice to see him in the break.

Stage:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Omloop%20Het%20Nieuwsblad/OmloophetNieuwsblad_zps87e7055c.jpg

It took almost 30 km's for a break to get away. In it for us was Belgian rider Julien Vermote. They got caught, but Vermote holds on in the 2nd group and manages to finish 35th, which is kind of what we expected.

I MADE MY DEBUT!!!!

Hello cycling fans from all around the world. This week I made my debut as a professional cyclist. The first San Marinese to do so. I just got back from Qatar today. I will tell you how it all went. The first stage ended in a mass sprint, while I was comfortably in the peleton. THe second stage was a Team Time Trial, one of my specialities. Bulgari finished second, only 1 second behind the winner. I was now 7th in the GC!!!!! A guy from San Marino in the top 10, that's great. They now even ahve a nationaly holiday in San Marino to honour me. Stage 3, 4 and 5 also ended in a maas sprint with me being in the peleton. I dropped to 13th in the GC due to bonus seconds, but I couldn't care. However, in stage 6. I got a flat 50km before the finish and again at 10km before the finish. I never managed to return to the peleton and finished almost 8 minutes behind them. I dropped to 112th in the GC, but I'm statisfied with my performance.

See you next time Smile

Strade Bianche

Startlist:

D. Cunego
E. Favilli
A. Malori
D. Ratto
D. Cimolai
S. Penarossa
B. Jungels
G. Izagirre

One of the most exciting races on the Italian cycling calender. We hope to do well here. We'd like a win, but we're expecting a top 3 from Cunego. He got some great support with the likes of Favilli, Ratto, Jungels and Izagirre. Penarossa and Cimolai hope to be of value for the team in the early parts of the race. This will be Penarossa's second appearance after his debut in Qatar.

Stage:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Strade%20Bianche/StradeBianche_zps761b3429.jpg

What we hoped to be a great race for the team, turned out to be a disaster. Our riders were never really on course for at least a top 20 finish, which is really sad. Our best rider was Bob Jungels with a 29th place.

Tirreno - Adriatico

Startlist:

D. Cunego
E. Favilli
A. Malori
D. Ratto
S. Penarossa
R. Valls
M. Landa
T. Slagter

Tirreno - Adriatico will be our debut at the World Tour level and is the first of our 6 wildcards. Damiano Cunego should be able to get some great results here for the team. Tom-Jelte Slagter will be his main helper. We're expecting to lose some time in the TTT, but hopefully Adriano Malori will be able to keep the losses to a minimum. Our goal is to get a top 10 result in the GC, which should be possible, depending on the opposition.

Stage 1:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Tirreno%20-%20Adriatico/Tirreno-Adriaticostage1_zps6d7b12f8.jpg

The first stage of this years Tirreno - Adriatico is a TTT. Not having many riders that are good time trialists, we hope to not lose much time on other GC contenders. We finished 10th, 30 seconds behind winners Tulip - Guinness, which we are very happy with.

Stage 2:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Tirreno%20-%20Adriatico/Tirreno-Adriaticostage2_zpsff686c3b.jpg

Hard, flat stage. Everyone was expecting a mass sprint, but the break made it to the finish. We had none of our riders in the beak. E. Favilli was our best rider with a 15th place.

Stage 3:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Tirreno%20-%20Adriatico/Tirreno-Adriaticostage3_zps973cc489.jpg

Another chance for the sprinters. Large break got away, so not many teams wanted to work to bring back the break. For us, we had A. Malori and D. Ratto in the break. A. Malori mostly worked for D. Ratto and finished 13th. However, D. Ratto sprinted to a 2nd place, which is great for our team.

Stage 4:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Tirreno%20-%20Adriatico/Tirreno-Adriaticostage4_zpse690ebb8.jpg

The first hilly stage of this Tirreno. We got none of our riders in the break, so we had to chase them down. In the last 5 km's all the GC contenders started attacking. D. Cunego was in the front and finished 5th, 25 seconds behind winner A. Contador.

Stage 5:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Tirreno%20-%20Adriatico/Tirreno-Adriaticostage5_zps4b46dd73.jpg

The queen stage of this year's Tirreno - Adriatico with a finish atop the Prati di Tivo. E. Favilli got in the break today, so our team could save themselves for the finale. With 8 km's to go D. Cunego put in an attack to increase the pace in the peloton. He didn't have the legs to keep going though and finished 7th, 1 minute and 32 seconds behind winner M. Scarponi.

Stage 6:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Tirreno%20-%20Adriatico/Tirreno-Adriaticostage6_zps3682d575.jpg

A hard hilly stage, final stage before the finishing prologue. M. Landa got in the break for us. With 10 km's to go he attacked from the break with Failli. They managed to stay in front and M. Landa beats Failli in the sprint, giving us our first WT victory. D. Cunego crossed the line 6th, 29 seconds later.

Stage 7:

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Tirreno%20-%20Adriatico/Tirreno-Adriaticostage7_zpsec0f070c.jpg

Final TT. Not a great stage for us, none of our riders finished top 10. D. Cunego doesn't lose much time and finishes 6th in the GC.

Rider of the race:

M. Landa (for our first ever WT stage win)
D. Cunego (Some top 10 finishes and 6th in the GC)

I HATE DIRT!!!!

Hello cycling fans from all around the world. Yesterday I rode my second race of the year, the Strade Bianche. Typical about this race is that it has some dirt roads. I never raced on dirt before, so it was quite a experience. And some of my family members came watching me, because San Marino is close to Italy. I started the race very good, but when the first dirt road ame, I lost contact with the peleton. And I didn't manage to come back.Instead, I dropped back a lot. I finished 121th position (of 123 finishers) almost 10 minutes behind winner Gasparotto. I was so angry when I finished, I decided that I'll never race dirt races ever again........

See you next time Smile
