1st | Dwars Door Vlaanderen | Nick Nuyens | 1st | Ronde van Vlaanderen | Nick Nuyens | Stage Win | Vuelta d'España | Juan José Haedo | . | Total Wins: | 10 | Pro Tour: | 3 | CQ Ranking: | 21 |
One big highlight and a lot of downs. That could summarize our 2011 campaign. Nick Nuyens made Saxobank's season in 2011. He single-handedly took the biggest win of his career at Ronde out of nowhere. Except that, not much to say. Juan José Haedo brought our team precious stage wins at Tirreno and Vuelta. Contador was the rider Saxobank relied for results but after his suspension and all the results erased from history - Saxobank barely survived to fight in 2012.
........In | .....Out | . | Sergio Paulinho | Alberto Contador | Karsten Kroon | Richie Porte | Jonathan Cantwell | Gustav Larsson | Bruno Pires | Baden Cooke | Ran Margaliot | Laurent Didier | Takashi Miyazawa | Jonathan Bellis | Chris Juul Jensen | André Steensen | Troels Rønning Vinther | Brian Vandborg | Anders Lund | Lars Peter Nordhaug |
This wasn't our best transfer season in history. Although we thought we would have Contador for the season - after his ban and logical sacking - we are left empty handed. We might face uphill battle this year. Richie Porte and Gustav Larsson are two other big names that left us, leaving our Time Trialing side very weak.
Sergio Paulinho, Karsten Kroon and Bruno Pires will strengthen our climbing and classic field, we also got some exciting talents from Isreal, Australia and Denmark as well as some veteran cyclists who will help our youngsters develop into real stars of the future.
With the news of Contador's doping ban - we knew he had to leave the team for good. We have succeeded in signing one more rider to strengthen our team for the following season. This season is all about surviving in the Pro Tour though !
Lars Peter Nordhaug is our very late addition to the squad. He will add strength in our climbing and hilly department, he'll lead our team in smaller stage races and lead our Ardennes squad along Chris Anker.

Our Belgian rider out of nowhere made our season last year with his his at Ronde van Vlaanderen. Too no surprise he’ll be our leader in the cobbled classics again and seek to repeat his success from last year.
Nick is also a great hilly rider and so will lead us in other various one day races and hunt for stage wins in stage races. His biggest goal after the spring will be of course the Tour where he’ll be hunting for stage win, protecting Chris Anker Sorensen on flat stages and leading-out JJ Heado in the sprints.
He’ll sure be busy this year And for us to stay in Pro Tour – he has to ride with his maximum in both the classics and the Tour.
Ronde Van Vlaanderen .:. Top 3
Paris - Roubaix .:. Top 5
Tour de France - Stage Win
JJ had his most successful season last year with his victory at Tirreno – Adriatico and even a bigger win – at Vuelta. He’ll hopefully progress this year and will try to challenge best sprinters at the biggest world cycling stage – Tour de France.
As most successful Argentinean in past years he’ll lead the team in his home race – Tour San Luis where he’ll try to take a stage win and begin our season on a high. He’ll lead us in other flat classics, stage races and will seek more stage wins to add to his palmares.
By far his biggest goal this year though will be completing Tour. We don’t have any specific targets for him too reach there as we know the sprinting level at the Tour is very high – however on a good day we see Heado taking a podium or even winning.
Tour San Luis .:. Stage Win
Scheldeprijs .:. Win
Stage Races .:. Stage Wins through the Season
Tour de France - Stage Podium
Chris Anker Sorensen is Denmark’s most promising climber in years ! Chris had stunning season last year and will come to this season with even higher expectations.
Our first target for Sorensen will be Paris-Nice which fairly suits his abilities. He’ll lead our team in Ardennes where he’s our hope of achieving some good results there.
But as with our other two leaders – he’s big goal is of course Tour de France. He’ll be looking for a stage win at least, anything other than that will surely be disappointing. Additionally, depending on the situation of the race he might go for the King of Mountain Classification and if opportunity arises and he rides well – Top 10 in GC.
Paris-Nice .:. Top 5
Liege-Bastogne-Liege .:. Top 10
Denmark National Road Race Title .:. Win
Tour de France .:. Stage Win
Daniel is our best climber in the team along Anker. He was one of Contador’s most loyal helpers, but with no Contador – he’ll have a chance to prove his worth as a leader in a team. He’ll have two big goals this year – and both of those goals are GT’s. He will race both Giro d’Italia and Vuelta and he’ll hope to achieve Top 10 in both.
Nicki Sørensen is a Danish legend. At 37 he’s still keeping strong and riding as well as ever, keeping up with the young talents in the peleton. He’s our most experienced rider in our team and we hope his experience will help us in the though season ahead. Being an excellent hilly rider, he will target hilly classics and we’ll be our road captain at the Tour.
Matteo Tossato is another veteran in our team, that despite the age – is one of the best in the world. Tosatto along Nicki create experienced core of our team. Matteo will be key in the Spring Classics, as Nuyens most important helper in the cobbles.
Majka is a climbing gem. He’s a pure talent. And it’s amazing we have him in our team. Majka already showed the glimpses of his massive talent, and we hope this year he’ll show it even more. He’ll be riding Giro in support of Daniel Navarro, however – he will be given his own chances in the race. He will also lead our team in smaller week long races.
Juul – Jensen is our biggest Danish stage-racing hope at the team. And we know he has the talent to become one hella of a rider. This year he will mainly do domestique duties to our leaders, however we hope he learns from the experience and develops steadily throughout the year.
Here you can see our 5 goals given to us. They are not necessarily the most important goals of the season, but the sponsor wants them done well. Those 5 goals present our goals in the first 3 months of our racing calendar.
Win Omloop Het Nieuwsblad
Win Strade Bianche
Stage Win(s) Paris - Nice
Stage Win(s) Tirreno - Adriatico
Top 10 Milano - SanRemo
Here you can see our goals for this season. Some of them are quite challenging to get, but all of them with bit of luck are possible to complete. So our goal is to reach 90% of those goals, should be a nice challenge. We also have our monthly personal goals as a team, but they will be announced in monthly reviews.
Top 3 Ronde van Vlaanderen
Top 3 Paris - Roubaix
Top 5 Amstel Gold Race
Stage Win(s) Giro'd Italia
Poins Jersey // Tour de France

Here you can view our finances across the months, we might struggle in the first few months of the season - but we hope we won't go bankrupt at any point in the season.
Details of the finances will be explained as we come to the January review.

Great introduction.
Really like the Nordhaugg signing, although I normally don`t like first season signings for real teams. But without Contador he should get a lot of freedom.
No doubt this will be a great story.

SweatyViking Indeed, but it's definitely achievable
fernando97 Thank you, looking forward to starting racing too
Miguel98 It should be fun challenge indeed Well I can't answer that question, but I think you should easily guess why
sutty68 Thank you very much sutty
roturn Thank you, glad you liked it Yeah, normally I am with you on this, but with Contador not coming back, I needed one rider to fill the space in the team - and LPN suited very nicely to the team I thought Glad you have faith in me too
johannes-w Thanks Well I like hard goals, surviving this year should be fun - more than 15 wins in the season will be like a great bonus
Katusha Thanks very much, glad you like the buttons to Valverde321 did great default button I must say here
PCM rulezz Indeed, hard but fun
cunego59 Hmmm, I wonder the same question
And thanks, it should be bigger challenge than playing with Sky at least
Tomorrow I should have done the 2nd part of presentation fully done The racing should start already on Saturday if everything goes well *hint cough hint *
And thanks for the awesome response guys Really appreciated
