Skoda - Tour de Luxembourg 2015
Date | Route (Type) | Result | Jun1-5 | Skoda - Tour de Luxembourg | 8th, +1'39" | Jun1 | Luxembourg (ITT) | 19th, +15" | Jun2 | Luxembourg - Bascharage (Sprint) | 65th, +0" | Jun3 | Schifflange - Differdange (Hills) | 8th, +1'22" | | Jun4 | Eschweiler - Roost (Hills) | 13th, +1'05" | | Jun5 | Mersch - Luxembourg (Hills) | 7th, +42" | |
Kyle does a great job in following up his first victory with a very solid Tour de Luxembourg claiming the young riders classification and it seems he is starting to get comfortable on the podiums. It will be curious to see now if he is given a chance in a grand tour how he will do, I don't think he is able to compete for the GC yet, but a young rider classification certainly shouldn't be out of reach nor would a stage win, though he still doesn't have a stage win at all yet.

Date | Route (Type) | Result | Jun11-19 | Tour de Suisse | 8th, +11'13" | Jun11 | Lugano (ITT) | 19th, +19" | Jun12 | Ascona - Sierre (Mountain) | 14th, +1'28" | Jun13 | Sierre - Schwarzenburg (Hills) | 7th, +57" | | Jun14 | Schwarzenburg - Wettigen (Sprint) | 95th, +0" | | Jun15 | Wettingen - Frutigen (Hills) | 9th, +1'03" | | Jun16 | Meiringen - La Punt (Mountains) | 19th, +9'19" | Jun17 | Savognin - Wetzikon (Sprint) | 86th, +0" | Jun18 | Wetzikon - Liestal (Hills) | 4th, +25" | Jun19 | Liestal (ITT) | 33rd, +1'52" |
Kyle continues to have a very strong season with another top 10 finish in a major event. The next month should be very interesting to see how he performs going into the national championships and it would seem reasonable that he would start for Garmin - Barracuda in the Tour de France this year.

In his first Tour de France, Kyle finishes a very respectable 20th, and 3rd in the young rider competition after leading early during the hilly stages of the race. There is no doubt now that Kyle is the best young puncher in the peloton, the question remains if he will improve on the mountains enough to really contend against the best in the world in the Grand Tours. Time trialing is also a discipline he will have to improve on if he wants to continue to move up the standings in stage races.

Kyle pulls up a very respectable 5th overall finish in the Vuelta after a 20th in France, and does win the Young Rider Classification by a staggering 36'43" over Peter Sagan. It was again in the mountains and on the time trials that Lewis lost time and those will surely be the focus of his training over the next year. He continues to have no stage wins though now with some close finishes (and a win in the US RR) we expect this to change quickly next season, though it will be interesting to see where his focus is...could it be on the Ardennes? or perhaps on one of the Grand Tours? There are plenty of options and where he signs could be a determining factor for this.

20th is a great ride in the Tour! And then to turn around and be in the top 5 in the Vuelta after 6 stages! I see multiple GT wins in his future

Looking at his stats, I'm going to place my bets on a 2017 GT victory if he targets the tour, and this year if he goes for Vuelta/Giro!

Judging by his stats for 2016 i see atleast one GT podium if not more, another win in the Tour of California(unless he does Giro), and US road Champion. And he is only like 25!

Since I won't really have time tonight to do much until a lot later - looked into the editor to see what to expect, he is using the "1" season plan which is Ardennes-TdF-Worlds, not sure how much I like that, would really rather go for the Vuelta, really think he could win this season. Will see if they send him to both TdF and Vuelta again this season.

As some other notes of editing I did back at the start, I put his favorite races to TdF, Tour of California and USA ProCycling Challenge, so that might also affect what he rides in.

In his first race of 2016 Kyle performs solidly in Paris - Nice, his lack of form showed clearly early in the race and it wasn't until the end of the tour Kyle started to show his power in the hills and moved into the young rider classification lead, and put himself in the top 15 overall.

A tremendous route to prepare for the Ardennes Classics with nothing but hills Kyle's performance was just average. With the Amstel Gold Race just over a week away hopefully his form will continue to improve for the three chances to win his first classic.
