ISD and Agritubel lead the promotion chase. My control team just missed out on the top 10 after winning the simmed Tour of Malaysia with some unknown rider. 
On another note, I'm not sure whether to call the World Tour by its present name, the 2009 name (ProTour) or the Cya Top Tour as it is in the game? Not that it matters I guess anyway haha.. |

Now that the pre-season is over we head into the more important races... headlining the starters at Paris-Nice are Leipheimer of Astana and his team-mate Andreas Kloden who have a great supporting cast. Perhaps though Kim Kirchen is the main favourite. The hilly stages will suit him well after the opening prologue and the one mountain top finish shouldn't pose too much difficulty for him.

Prologue
Amilly : 9.7km
Spaniard Jose Ivan Gutierrez came out victorious of the opening prologue. Kreuziger and Leipheimer showed good form with top 5 placings.

Stage 2
The first chance for the sprinters - the best of which include Hushovd, Griepel, Haussler, Pozzato and Farrar.
Hushovd does a great job to pull Haussler up to the front, who must be feeling better than the Norwegian today. Griepel sits on Sieberg's wheel.
Haussler bursts away and holds off Fischer for the win.

Stage 3
Orval - Vichy : 178.4km
This is another stage for the sprinters so expect to see the same faces up there again.
This time Thor struggles to bring Haussler up whilst Sieberg brings Griepel right to the fore...
Haussler puts out an incredible sprint from pretty far back in the field but runs out of road and loses out to Griepel. Farrar took third.

Stage 4
Vichy - Saint Etienne : 173.9km
We head to more difficult terrain today. Gutierrez is in with a shout of keeping the yellow jersey but Kreuziger is only 1 second behind him
Casar goes first at the foot of the final climb. Pauriol and Kirchen are first to respond.
Kreuziger, Kloden, Colom and Cobo are next. Gutierrez counters and more attacks follow.
Kirchen is first over the top. Pauriol is next followed by Kreuziger and Colom.
Kirchen solos to victory and the yellow jersey. Pauriol leads Colom, Nocentini, Moreau, Garate, Kreuziger, Bruseghin and Gerdemann over the line 44 seconds back and the peleton come in at 1'49.

Stage 5
Annonnay - Vallon Pont d'Arc : 204.6km
This is a good stage for puncheurs which should suit Kirchen perfectly.
Rodriguez joined Azanza, Celli, Jacobs and Lagutin in the break - the peleton allowed him to go as he is 5 minutes back in GC already. He ended up winning won 4 of the mountain sprints to take hold of the polka dot jersey.
Ignatiev and Barredo slipped away atop the final mountain sprint but they couldn't make their lead hold.
60km from the finish Moreau went next.
At 40km Gerdemann and Casar attack followed by Nocentini and several others. With 25km to go they are all caught but Moreau remains out front with Rodriguez. Only 1 minute behind Kirchen, he poses a threat.
With just 6km to go some big names are involved in a crash. Green jersey Haussler, Pozzato, Kloden and Zabriskie all go down along with 5th placed Colom. Astana make a blunder by sending back Leipheimer to help Kloden and they all end up losing plenty of time.
Moreau is able to drop Rodriguez and solos to the line. He is now 18 seconds behind Kirchen in the GC.

Stage 6
St-Paul Trois Chateaux - La Montagne de Lure : 182.9km
Stage 6 is the hardest of this year's Paris-Nice and it should prove to be the most decisive. Kirchen will be looking to defend his jersey whilst Kreuziger might decide to have a go at him.
Leipheimer and Casar are the first to go.
Nocentini and Kloden respond along with 5th placed Gerdemann.
Next Kreuziger decides to go. Kirchen flies off after him.
They make their way up to Daniel Martin and Fuglsang from the break.
5km left and Moreau has ridden accross to the leading duo. Cobo isn't far behind.
With 1.6km to go Moreau looks to attack whilst Kirchen is struggling.
Moreau fades and Kreuziger comes round him for the win. Kirchen finds second legs to defend his jersey with 2nd place - it's looking very good for him.

Stage 7
Manosque - Fayence: 191.4km
Another hilly stage. The final climbs could provide the best opportunity left to steal yellow from Kirchen.
Columbia control the peleton, but allow the day's break to go. 25km from the line they seem certain to take the win whilst Gerdemann makes a move. Fedrigo follows.
Amongst the counter attacking Moreau slipped away, made his way up to Gerdemann and Fedrigo, and has 1 minute on the peleton with 10km to go.
The break approach the finish - Devenyns denies Lowik in a close sprint ahead of Millar to take the stage win.
Meanwhile Voigt has spurred on a flurry of attacks on the run-in. Him, Vogondy and Garate are just behind Moreau's group on the road. Kreuziger and Kirchen are around 40 seconds further back.
Moreau sprints accross the line for 4th, but unfortunately for him it looks like all the favourites have ended up spread out down the road in one long group.
But the race organisers decide to accredit the time gaps (for once!) and Moreau finds himself taking over the lead from Kirchen by 8 seconds with just one stage to go!

Stage 8
Nice - Nice : 131.5km
Can Moreau deny all the odds and come away victorious? Kirchen will be giving his all on the Col d'Eze to turn things back around.
Columbia and Liquigas set the early pace, keen to set up Kreuziger or Kirchen. The break have other ideas though and as we head into Nice they look likely to take the stage again.
And to contradict things further, it is Moreau who sets off on the attack on the Col d'Eze in response to attacks from Garate and Pauriol...
But he falters and Kirchen flies past on his right. Kreuziger and Bruseghin respond...
It is Kirchen who goes next over the top after the breakaway but things seem to have come back together behind him... and indeed everything is neutralised as they begin the descent.
In the meantime up front Carrara and Gustov have got rid of their companions and are descending towards the finish together...
... there is little to report further back down the road and Carrara denies Gustov in the sprint.
Gutierrez leads the pack safely across the line shortly afterwards which means that Christophe Moreau is crowned champion of Paris-Nice!

This year's Tirreno - Adriatico begins flat. Stage 4 should shake things up a little before the challenging 33.4km ITT the next day and the queen stage to Camerino. The final stage sees the riders return to the flat again.
The field is very strong! Sanchez, Contador, Vinokourov, Valverde, both Schlecks, Di Luca, Evans, Cunego and Chavanel are all present. Armstrong also makes his comeback from retirement. The main sprinters include Cavendish, Bennati, McEwen, Freire and Ciolek.

I noticed that by moving T-A so it didn't overlap P-N (to make reporting easier) meant that a few riders have unrealistically signed up at both races, I'll fix that next season. |

A flat stage to get things started.
Liquigas have set things up for Bennati nicely but he has Boonen and Freire on his wheel.
Bennati delivers and takes the win ahead of Boonen, Cavendish and Freire.

Stage 2
Volterra - Marina di Carrara : 174.4km
The terrain is a little tougher than yesterday but still suggests a bunch sprint again.
Cavendish and McEwen are dropped on the first climb but they are helped back into the pack.
On the final climb, Nibali, Voeckler, Flecha, Wegmann and Chavanel attack.
Voeckler and Nibali follow this through and open up a lead of 35 seconds. However they are pulled back with 5km to go.
As the sprint begins Bennati (in blue) darts through again with Freire and Boonen in pursuit.Lost the picture but it is Bennati who holds them off to win again.
Behind them there is bad news. Samuel Sanchez was involved in a big crash and lost a sizeable chunk of time. Frank Schleck went one better and crashed on the finish line having already been held up by the same crash. He ended up sliding across the line to get the same time as Sanchez, 3'01 down on the peleton.
Thanks to the crashes there are five withdralws from the stage. The most notable are Thomas Lovkvist and Sergio Paulinho.

More falls on the run-in. Frank Schleck is involved again along with Cancellara, Garzelli, Gilbert and Vandevelde. Serpa is injured and abandons.
Davis darts down the middle, the other main sprinters are lined up to his right.
Visconti comes out of his wheel and spoils the show for the big names.

I'll admit that I've been somewhat losing interest in what I've got going here, but at the same time I'm really keen to actually follow through a story.
I figure having something complete is better than a loose-end, so what I'm considering doing is focusing reporting on the GTs for this year at least. I think overall this will be of benefit to the story.
Once I make it to the second season I will possibly look at the idea of reporting from some of the other races too depending on how things go.
So, moving on and ahead, here are the final results from Tirreno-Adriatico:
... So in the end Valverde brushed of Chavanel for the win. Andy Schleck has also shown good form whilst Freire took the sprinter's jersey home. |

We head to Italy for the first classic of the year, Milan-San Remo. The top sprinters are all here: Freire and Bennati climb well and should be considered very dangerous. Boonen and maybe even Cavendish or McEwen pose a threat too. The likes of Ballan and Cancellara will be looking to steal the show from the sprinters.
On the final climbs a 15 man group of the top sprinters and puncheurs broke free. Cavendish and McEwen soon lost contact, and at the finish Freire jumped from behind Bennati to take the win. Quick Step had a bittersweet 2-3 with Boonen and Davis.
