Hi there
I want to make a 4th grand tour, as I like allround cyclists, and tough, hard races, my grand tour should be one that reflects that. What I want in my tour:
1 Prologue (5 - 10km)
1 TTT (75-100km)
1 Cobble stage (Tour of flanders- like, so 200 - 260km)
1 Not flat sprint stage (like Paris - Brussels (+-200km))
2 ITT:
- 1 mountain ITT (15-20km (preferably on the Ventoux))
- 1 ITT (+-50km (flat, hilly or mixed, it's your choice))
2 Flat sprint stages (150 - 200km)
3 Hilly stages (like Amstel Gold Race, Fleche Wallonie, Liege - Bastogne - Liege, Plouay, ... so all minimum 200 with steep climbs)
8 Mountain stages (170 - ... km) I would like 2 or 3 stages with a climb fairly close to the start, and I'd like 2 or 3 (or more) stages ending on top of a climb. Steep climbs, long climbs, ... that's what I leave to you!
With this Tour I would start in Belgium (hence the cobbles, hills, ...), the mountains would be Italian, French and Spanish (Pyrenees), The Paris - Brussels-like stage would be the finishing stage (even though we are not starting or arriving in Brussels).
Any questions? Anyone want to make a stage? Or all of them?
It's not like I need them this week, when somebody wants to do them, I'll give him the time he needs.
GrTz

I've seen one for PCM10, but you wouldn't be able to use it for PCM11 so what would be a bit useless |

Perhaps you could make some part of the job. Try creating an account in www.openrunner.com for example and start making the stages... export them to gpx and upload it here.
Export it as GPX (track or route is the same i think)
I think that could help |

Wooooow mate, now you are expecting too much from me, I know nothing about these things. Btw, the stages don't really have to look like the real road that should be taken, because then there would be sooooo many flat stages, and I only want a couple...

That would be cool, but difficult, but I'd download it. |

This shure is a big request, as mentioned earlier. I would really like to see a thread for requests for stages such as we allready have for jerseys. The only problem is that it's a bit easier to create a jersey then a stage, let alone a Grand Tour.
I would love to see a stage editor/creator that's a bit more user friendly. |

Why would there so many flat stages then? You can decide what gpx routes you do and how flat or hilly they are. |

I think you're going to upset the sprint teams with that build...talking 2 out of ~19 stages for the main sprinters, and only one for Gilbert to win...(though he could also take the hilly stuff). I certainly would not be wasting race days with Cav, Farrar, or any other major sprinter.

Yeah, I like timetrialists who can climb, the prologue could work for some hilly riders or some riders who want to win who might lose on short hilly stages, the team time trial is because for this tour you need a good team, the flat TT is for the timetrial specialists who also want to wear the leaderjersey and are good (but not the best) over short hilly stages (e.g. Cancellara, Schumacher (back in the days), ...) and the mountain TT is for the climbers who want to take back time over the TT/hilly specialists... It has its use and I'm sure there wouldn't be just one rider who would compete for the win in this tour.

I know, but then again this tour is not replacing another so it is fighting for a nice date on the calendar and the other tours organized give more opportunities to the sprinters. In real life other tours would specialize more in sprinters and there would be fights on different levels.
