Well, there was the strange Stage 2, where he was 5th and and got 30" on Monfort, De Weert and Brajkovic (strange for some riders losing a lot of time, such as Basso losing 5'27, Pinotti, 3'24 and Nibali 14'18);
Lost 1'42 on stage 3 TT to stage winner;
And finished great on both mountain stages (2nd and 4th), putting time on almost everybody if you join those two (Monfort 2nd GC - 34" - De Weert 3rd GC - 1'35 - Brajkovic 4th GC - 2'00)
This is PCM although it's nice to see GT contenders not winning every race they enter, it isn't realistic when that happens =) although the Giro contenders should be in top form.. |

May 2nd: Month Review
We’ll now see what our team has done in April. You’re reading our month review.
We took part in several races this month as our best riders were preparing for the late month goals. Tanel Kangert got us the mountain jersey in [img-r]https://img638.imageshack.us/img638/4406/legenda1.jpg[/img-r]Vuelta a Castilla y León, a nice result considering his shape at that moment. He couldn’t repeat the good performances on Giro del Trentino, though, where we aimed for a nice GC. Until the 25th, we weren’t doing well on classics: even on Tro-Bro Léon, where our leader Nilceu dos Santos was peaking, he couldn’t finish with the peloton. But on the classic where we were least expecting a nice result, East Midlands Cicle Classic - a cobble race - we felt how it was to be in the Top 10 again, a thing hadn’t happened for almost a month.
[img-l]https://img135.imageshack.us/img135/402/legenda2.jpg[/img-l]As our leaders were now reaching perfection in their fitness, we have the races in Asturias. We were not successful in the classic Subida al Naranco, but it’s completely the opposite for Vuelta a Asturias. We had the goal to wear the sprinters jersey, and after a bad performance by both Walker and Pagliarini on stage 1, we attacked and battled through 3 more stages before finally seeing Walker fulfill the goal. We also had a Top 10 with Kangert on stage 3. Summing up, it was a nice month, with 2 jersey wins, one classic Top 10 and one stage Top 10.
The Pro Tour rankings are pretty much the same. [img-r]https://img577.imageshack.us/img577/5462/legenda3.jpg[/img-r]Kirchen and Vinokourov keep dominating it following their 1st and 2nd on Pais Vasco and nice performances on the Ardennes. Katusha is great positioned on teams rankings thanks not only to Kirchen but also Rodríguez’ podium on Flèche Wallone and 4th on Pais Vasco. It’s not enough to beat Astana, though. The main cobble classics put Tom Boonen and Quick-Step good on the rankings, while John Gadret flew on the CQ Ranking after his Romandie win and a nice performance in Flèche Wallone.

Seara/Vivo Rider of the Month presented by Donut&Donut
Tanel Kangert
Congratulations to Tanel Kangert, he is April's rider of the month! The final choice was between Kangert and Walker, but after remembering Walker's performance on stage 1 of Asturias, which was the most important stage, and seeing that without Kangert our Australian wouldn't be able to reach the goal, we decided to choose Kangert, as he also good other nice results! Well done!

Giro di Toscana
Well, I couldn’t find anything about Giro di Toscana: flag, poster, logo, website… so you get the image of Tuscany’s falg, the region of Italy where the race happens. Weird I couldn’t find anything given it’s an old race, created in 1983 nad having 82 editions so far. It’s rated as 1.1 nowadays, although I found some source showing a stage race Toscana. Anyway, in PCM it’s a classic.
But for us, it’s not any classic: it’s the classic, as one of our season goals. There is another classic among our goals, but this is the first one. The race isn’t tough at all when compared to the other hilly classics. The first half of the race is quite flat, with some small ascents. The biggest ascent, Valico della Scheggia, comes on the transition from first to second half when then the riders enter a criterium where they will climb Anghiari four times.. The flat finish migh very well see a medium-sized peloton sprinting for the win.

As we have several other races today, the start list isn’t really strong. Androni Giocattoli brought a strong team, but we don’t know who will be their leader yet. The main options are Leonardo Bertagnolli and Michele Scarponi, who should be in a good form with the Giro d’Italia on the next corner. I’m actually surprised to not see him in Romandie. Another contender would be Riccò, but we’ve seen in Giro del Trentino that he hasn’t got a good form. 2006 winner Przemyslaw Niemiec is here, too. The list continues with Luca Mazzanti, Grega Bole and others. We’ll have to see who has a good form, which could be crucial today.

Team Goals:
- Top 10 - Sponsor Goal (Kangert)
Well, when you are given numbers 161, 162, and need a Top 10 things could be quite hard. Kangert has got almost an excellent form, though, and that’s where we’re counting to get this goal. Almost the whole team has a good form, and these are the best guys on hilly terrain on the team, so we have hopes of completing the goal. Fortunately the good luck that got Walker the points jersey in Asturias isn’t over so we can use it a bit here.
