Stage Editor tutorial
doddy13
This is an English tutorial for the stage editor. CrueTrue asked me to do one, and so here I am.
This will be done in installments, not sure when I'll do each installment.
The first one is made for the absolute beginner.

Part 1 - The Basics

For anyone who has made the stage and wants to test it in PCM - the easiest way is just to replace another stage.

Copy and paste a stage to the desktop. Rename your stage to the same file name as the one you just put on the desktop. And copy and paste it into CM_Stages load the game and the stage you replaced. If it works, good. Then copy and paste the old stage back in. Good as new.

hey doddy thanks for starting this. i found the guide very useful and easy to follow, cant wait for the next instalment.

i added a few things on the stage just to try them out, like lakes, buildings etc.

i have a couple of minor issues with my stage though.

i added 2 sprints as check points both near the climbs on your route, no probs there except when i played the stage it seemed to have about 5 sprints, 3 of which were not my checkpoints and im not sure why they are there? does the editor automatically add sprints and you just adjust them???

also i noticed that when you view the profile the course finishes at the finish line, but actually starts at the start of the road, not the specified start which of course is after the 2km mark. therefore my route said it was longer than it acutally was.

anyway thanks for starting this.

The sprints - I have no idea, that is strange.

The profile - don't worry, that is normal in the editor. It will display properly in game.

Hi doddy, Just used your guide, fantastic. Big help. Only problem i'm having is how do you delete a mountain sprint?

the mountain sprint point in 3D view should have a pink circle on it. Click the pink circle, then press delete on your keyboard.

I have to ask is there any way to stop the editor crashing ALL THE TIME? and is there a faster way to move the camera than using the arrow keys in top view?

If i wanne make a criterium can i place a sprint after 5 rounds, 10 rounds,...

roturn
Yes. Just add a sprint point on the circuit. On the right you can choose several kilometer options. Just choose the 5th and 10th for example.

Umm, the one needed for the tutorial is in the second post, otherwise, you need to make them yourself at bikeroutetoaster.com or a similar site

I have the new Terrain Data Pack, does it matter when i create a new file what region i choose? America/Colorado is not on the list.

roturn
The .dem Pack is just important if you create gpx routes with bikeroutetoaster, gpsies, bikemap or similar sites. If you load your map from this gpx file in your editor you need the terrain pack.
The region like, Alpe, Centre, North... doesn`t matter.

How to I create a 13 lap race? Currently working on a stage from Tour de Beauce that is a Criterium race in Quebec. I can't get the roads to "collide" with each other. And when it seems that they have "collided" (start\finish), I always get an Intersection 2 ways error.

Criteriums:

Do make one, make a loop - if you get "Intersection with only 2 ways" then add a 3rd road from another direction and it should work.

As for sprints, put a sprint point down on the lap, and on the panel you will see the bit where you should name it, and boxes with all ticked. Just tick the boxes of the lap you want it.
I would screenshot it for you, but on holiday and I can't Wink Hopefully the 2nd part will be done the day after I get back.

I can not make Criterium stages. I'm totally useless. I don't understand anything. How on earth do I place the start and finish line on the same spot. I'm adding the checkpoints, and everything is green and looking good, but I can not put the finish line where the start line is!!!!! SadAngry
