We have already settled (or almost settled or are strongly considering) some rule changes for 2027 so wanted to get them out their early.
Also confirm we will be sticking PCM24 for next season.
Previously Announced Changes
These will both be effective this offseason.
1. New stat gain matrix which can be found in the first post here
2, New training costs which can be found at the bottom of the first post here
Likely changes
3. PT and PCT calendars will be reduced by 2 days and CT increased by 4 to create a 17 day gap between each division. 2 race days will be eliminated from PT and added to C1 to support his change. No changes will be made to rider RD allowances or anything else given the small change.
4. CT salary cap increased to 1.5 M with 18 rider minimum. CT free rider draft will be eliminated. CT budget allowances will be adjusted upward to keep non-salary money approximately equal. This change equalizes money in line with race days by division. It adds a small amount of money to the game but not enough to be distortive. While the CT draft was fun it is admin work and an extra complexity.
5. The loan fee cap of 600k will apply only to loans with a 1-3 clause. This was always the intention and was an error in the rules last year.
Still Under Consideration but Leaning Towards Some Change
6. Training rules will likely be changed using the stat tiering approach that has been suggested but we are still reviewing. To allow time to adjust planning any change will probably not apply until training prior to the 2028 season.
7. Some restriction on PCT teams selecting C1 race days so oversubscriptions fall less heavily on CT teams.
That is the plan for now, probably not going to make any major changes not listed here but smaller tweaks will be considered. Please weigh in with any thoughts in this thread.
Love the changes to align the gaps between PT, PCT and CT!
And ok 2027 is going to be awful for training but we're on the way to updating the system. Happy to be involved working through the concerns and testing there (lord knows i spent enough time on it already).
As usual, proof that if i moan about something for long enough it does get changed! Next up, switching to 2-divisions with a revised Goals system
Unfortunate to wait for training tiers for another year; hopefully things will be clear by the 2027 training season so we could adapt plans accordingly. But good to hear that you're considering it (and taking your time to think it through).
Not a fan of 7., at least depending on how it's going to be implemented. The planning freedom really is what makes PCT the most fun division for racing. So hopefully this isn't too big of an alteration (even though I fully understand the oversubscriptions consideration - best would be to get more reporters to extend the calendar instead )
One open question remains to me: MM is going to be considered a fully independent stat starting with next offseason (statgains + training), but it currently has zero impact on OVL. So, is OVL currently being worked on, or will we just move ahead with the current formula? I think there are other findings about PCM 24 mechancis that would encourage some OVL tweaks as well.
