Stage 3 Report

Stage 3 is the inverse of Stage 2 with all the obstacles packed into the first 45k of the 178k stage. The obstacles include two sprint points, two ascents of the Cat 2 Cats Tor, twice along the same gravel through Lyme Park as yesterday and some cobbles as well.

The stage favorites are the cobbled guys who can sprint but if the sprinters can survive the opening in without losing too much time it seems like it might be more of a traditional field sprint.

About 6k gone and the riders on the Lyme Park gravel stretch which is where they have the first sprint. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2026/Micros/ekr.png Sillankorva was one of the first to attack and dropped the others on the opening ascent. He goes across solo in first. Wallinder beats Singh at the sprint point for 2nd. The peloton lets the 6 mentioned go and they are the break of the day.

Ben Ameur and Wallinder struggle on the first cobbles section and start the climb of Cats Tor (2.8k at 6.5%) a little behind.

They are able to rejoin on the climb. At the top Braet is first followed by Singh. Next 3 are Sillankorva, Ben Ameur and Pringle.

The leaders don’t contest the 2nd sprint point. They have 5’36 on the peloton with 143k to go. The closest on GC to start the day was Sillankorva at +5’11.

The second ascent of Cats Tor is vey tight. Singh gets it just ahead of Pringle, Ben Ameur, Braet and Sillankorva. Peloton at 5’19, that is pretty much it for the excitement today until the finish.
