Stage 8 Report

2026 Paris – Nice ends with a 23.5k flat Team time trial in, surprise, Nice.

The organizers have ELCO, King Power and Indosat as the favorites. King Power will be hoping their strength can push pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2026/Micros/kng.png McNulty up the GC standings but race leader pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2026/Micros/mol.png Kudus’ MOL squad get 1 star and 43 seconds is a decent gap in a 23k TTT. 2nd place pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2026/Micros/pol.png Bernal may be a more realistic target with just a 24-second edge over McNulty to start the day. The riders between 5th and 7th are just 5 seconds apart so those places are definitely up for grabs.

Los Pollos have found their correct jerseys, that will likely be their only reason to celebrate today.

Cedevita are the 2nd squad off the startline, we aren’t expecting much from them today either.

Ekoi-Renault are next, they have a solid TT squad and should put up the first benchmark. Indeed, they are 38 seconds up on Specialized, 45 on Cedevita and 52 up on Los Pollos at the time check.

Unfortunately for him they both have pretty good TTT teams. Zwift are 6 seconds down at the check.

Next on the course are Zalgiris, two stages wins is a nice return even if their GC challenge didn’t materialize. They lost 21 seconds in the first half of the TT.

Moving on to the finish now. The 11 teams above have finished and the final standings largely match the halfway point. Xero leads, 11 seconds up on Ekoi and 12 seconds up on Zwift.

King Power were 19 seconds up on them at the time check, at that pace Kudus’ GC position is safe, but it is close. Polar and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2026/Micros/pol.png Bernal are in trouble though, they lost 45 seconds to King Power at the time check and with ELCO holding the lead at the time check Bernal could fall off the podium.

Hunter Valley have only 4 riders at the finish, but that is all you need. They lose 13 seconds on ELCO, they are behind Xero on fractions in 3rd for now.

King Power next, 4 seconds slower than ELCO. Assuming he gets that time McNulty gains 37 seconds on Kudus, only good enough for second. He will pass Bernal but loses Paris – Nice by 7 seconds, he is used to losing races by a few seconds.

3 teams left, the first is the other stage favorite, Indosat.
