Season Goals

New season, new target races. But before we get into those, we have one overarching team goal — and it’s a lofty one: Promotion.

Is it realistic? Maybe. At least one person thinks so. We’re going to dream big, but there’s no shame in spending another season in the PCT if promotion doesn’t come this year. We are still in the building phase.

As for the races, there’s plenty of variety with goals spread across multiple terrains. We’re aiming for three wins, with team captain Matteo Jorgenson targeting the Tour of Norway and Strade Bianche, while Inigo Elosegui sets his sights on the Pro Hallstatt Classic.

Jorgenson was the best young rider at the Tour of Norway in 2023, finishing fourth overall and picking up a stage win in the process. He hasn’t returned since, but we’re hoping he can make his comeback count. On the white gravel of Strade Bianche, the American finished second behind MVDP last season, giving us reason to believe he can go one step better this time after his training this offseason.

Elosegui will take the reins at the Pro Hallstatt Classic after playing a key role in Jorgenson’s second-place finish last season, while also securing 13th himself. This year, he gets the opportunity to lead the team and chase the win.

Then there’s the Chrono d’Arenberg. Some might consider it an unusual target, but Ethan Vernon delivered a Top 5 finish here last season. It proved to us he can handle the cobbles and still produce a strong time trial. We’re backing him to suffer through the rough stuff once again and hopefully get the job done.

Unsure if no Post Danmark Rundt is a C1 prio issue or an active choice, would think it was a slam dunk as you could very easily split Jussaume and Vernon for maximum scoring effiency.

Mostly just comes from my tendency to avoid race clashes whenever I can. You’re probably right that there are some points being left on the table by doing it that way, but I’m content with the tradeoff. I like being able to send strong lineups to races when possible, even if it’s not always the most efficient approach. Definitely more of a preference on my end than me thinking it’s the optimal strategy. Wink
