Introducing: SPVGG Billstedt-Horn von 1891 e.V.
Founded in 1891, Spielvereinigung Billstedt-Horn e.V. is a registered sports club based in Billstedt, Hamburg, Germany. Since its foundation, the club's guiding principle and primary objective have been to promote and spread grassroots sport among the general public.
A registered association (eingetragener Verein, or e.V.) is a common legal form in Germany that is not permitted to operate for profit. Instead, its purpose is to pursue and promote the objectives set out in its statutes.
Billstedt is a working-class district of Hamburg, known for below-average incomes, relatively high unemployment, and an elevated crime rate. A book published in Germany once described it as the toughest neighbourhood in the country.
Alongside Germany's traditional grassroots sports, cycling has experienced growing popularity in recent years. More and more working people are becoming interested in pursuing high-level performance in cycling. However, many lack the financial means to afford suitable equipment, training in demanding terrain, and participation in amateur races.
At a general meeting of the club, the members therefore resolved to close this gap. Using the club's own resources, a Continental-level cycling team is to be established in order to bring the sport closer to the local community while at the same time giving club members the opportunity to compete in amateur-cycling at a high level.
The team's primary objective is not sporting success alone. Rather, it is intended to advance the club's mission of making cycling accessible to workers and their children. In doing so, the team aims to embody values of solidarity within a commercial sporting environment. This inevitably places certain limits on sporting ambitions. Prospective riders must therefore accept that the club cannot offer the salaries commonly paid by other teams. Instead, the club hopes to attract riders who choose to join out of conviction and enthusiasm for the project.
This should not be understood to mean that sporting success is not an objective. On the contrary, the club aims to build a strong and competitive team. Sporting performance should be rewarded fairly, and this principle will also apply to the club's riders.
Time will tell whether a non-profit project can establish itself within the increasingly commercialised world of professional cycling. |

Welcome!
I like the sound of your project very much, will definitely be following. A good year to come in as a German team too with the former quintessential German team Puma folding last season. Good luck with everything and hope that you have a exciting transfer period

Welcome to the game!
I just released Nikias Arndt who was born only half an hour away. Would be a fitting end of the career if he found his way towards your team

Herzlich Willkommen!
It's cool to see the German market won't be deserted, and what better way to represent Germany than with an e.V., probably the most German thing there is! And I don't see any problems with the name, SpVgg is a rather common abbreviation for German sport clubs come to think of it ...

Welcome to the game, great to see another German team picking up the mantle as Puma (and Kraftwerk) are no more. Once the transfer season comes, we may be in touch as a certain German on our roster is on the block.

As said in the new managers thread, welcome to the show
It's great to see a new German team after the loss of Puma and Zappes, plus the relocation/rebrand of Kraftwerk
Obviously I was hoping to get some Germans for cheaper than usual now, which likely won't happen But I definitely love to see another new team accepting the challenge, and I think it's indeed a great moment to found a German team

Introducing: SPVGG Billstedt-Horn von 1891 e.V.
Professional Cycling Team 2026
On the 23rd of July 2026, Billstedt-Horn announced a historic new direction. For the first time in the club’s almost 140-year history, it is entering the world of professional sport.
Over the past few weeks, the club has signed a total of 17 riders who will form the team for its inaugural professional season.
The club’s objectives at the beginning of the transfer window had already been clearly defined: the aim was to build a team of talented riders who genuinely believe in the club and are passionate about representing it. At the same time, the club was operating within limited financial means. The final piece of the puzzle was to be an experienced rider who could serve as the club’s figurehead while also acting as a mentor to its young talents.
Among the riders available, the first name that came to mind was obvious. At the beginning of the transfer window, Lennard Kämna was without a contract and appeared to fit the club’s profile better than anyone else. Born in Wedel, just across the state border from Hamburg, and already possessing extensive experience in professional cycling, he was identified as the ideal figurehead for the new project.
The club committed all of its available financial resources to convincing Kämna to join, but ultimately fell short due to its limited budget. Nevertheless, Billstedt-Horn wishes Lennard nothing but the very best for the future with Team Fastned, where he will have the opportunity to compete at the highest level of the sport — a level at which he undoubtedly belongs.
The club is proud to announce that it has found an outstanding captain in Fredrik Strand Galta, who fulfils all of the requirements we had set. Galta joins from Team Peugeot. Born in Norway, he brings many years of experience and considerable strength, having spent much of his career competing at Continental level.
The club is convinced that Galta will fulfil both of his key roles: achieving results for himself while also making his experience and expertise available to the team’s young talents as a mentor.
The squad is now complete as follows:

Billstedt-Horn will be led in 2026 by Fredrik Strand Galta. Galta was signed as an all-round stage racer, with his greatest strengths clearly lying in the mountains. While his time-trialling ability represents a limitation, the club is nevertheless convinced that he will play a significant role in many stage races.
He will be supported by the following domestiques:
| Nat. | Name | FL | MO | MM | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | OVR | Age | Wage | | Schleck | 64 | 77 | 75 | 73 | 53 | 71 | 71 | 78 | 53 | 52 | 73 | 61 | 61 | 61 | 73.54 | 30 | 50000 | | Arndt | 67 | 75 | 74 | 72 | 52 | 71 | 70 | 63 | 59 | 67 | 69 | 57 | 60 | 52 | 72.50 | 35 | 50000 | | Atkins | 72 | 51 | 58 | 65 | 75 | 69 | 70 | 67 | 63 | 58 | 58 | 67 | 61 | 74 | 70.94 | 34 | 50000 |
Jordan Schleck was signed from Team IESE ProCycling to support Galta in the mountains. Nikias Arndt, born in Buchholz in der Nordheide, just a few kilometres from the Hamburg state border, will also play a supporting role while at the same time representing an important part of the team’s regional identity. Josh Atkins will be able to showcase his strengths in team time trials, although in this discipline the club will have only one objective: damage limitation.
| Nat. | Name | FL | MO | MM | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | OVR | Age | Wage | | Bauhaus | 74 | 56 | 59 | 61 | 56 | 71 | 65 | 77 | 67 | 78 | 75 | 59 | 63 | 60 | 74.37 | 32 | 50000 | | Walscheid | 72 | 54 | 58 | 62 | 61 | 69 | 72 | 71 | 60 | 78 | 77 | 60 | 66 | 74 | 74.10 | 33 | 50000 |
Phil Bauhaus and Max Walscheid will lead the team’s sprinting contingent. While neither rider’s raw sprinting ability can be compared with the very best in the world, the club expects both of them to be capable of delivering strong results. Beyond their sporting abilities, both riders also embody the values of the club.
| Nat. | Name | FL | MO | MM | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | OVR | Age | Wage | | Stallaert | 73 | 56 | 60 | 63 | 54 | 70 | 62 | 74 | 77 | 75 | 70 | 63 | 62 | 54 | 73.87 | 35 | 90000 | | Hollmann | 73 | 62 | 64 | 66 | 73 | 73 | 73 | 64 | 75 | 65 | 68 | 62 | 65 | 72 | 73.11 | 27 | 65000 | | Asgreen | 67 | 66 | 72 | 77 | 68 | 70 | 69 | 67 | 55 | 64 | 74 | 75 | 66 | 68 | 73.45 | 31 | |
Joeri Stallaert will lead the club’s small classics group. Much like the sprinting contingent, Stallaert will only be able to win races under favourable circumstances, but the club nevertheless expects him to produce strong results. He will be supported by Juri Hollmann. Kasper Asgreen will take responsibility for the hilly classics.

Last but certainly not least, we come to the heart of the club: its talented young riders. During this transfer window, the focus was on signing both German and international prospects who can provide the team with a solid foundation for the years ahead. The club is particularly pleased to have secured loan deals for the talents Nordhagen and Putz, giving both riders the opportunity to continue their development.
The club deliberately chose not to build a squad aimed at creating immediate and realistic promotion opportunities. Instead, the focus is firmly on developing a sustainably strong team, even if achieving that goal takes two years or more.
This is a long-term project, and Billstedt-Horn is prepared to give its young riders the time and support they need to grow into the future leaders of the team. |
