This promises to be a very exciting race, with two of the absolute heavyweight puncheurs in Gidich and Lutsenko. But don’t discount Luchshenko, who has the strongest sprint and is good on hills, too!
Gidich doesn’t wait for the final climb but attacks with 10 kilometers to go. Lutsenko is immediately in his wheel, Senyenov and Luchshenko follow.
The attack doesn’t go anywhere, but Gidich goes again on the flat with 5 kilometers to go. This time, his companions are Ovsyannikov, Fedorov and Kamyshev.
That move, too, doesn’t stick and we have a bunch sprint up the final ramp.
Gidich doesn’t have the energy anymore to go all the way, and so it’s the second top favorite who takes advantage: Lutsenko is the new Kazakh National Champion!

Time Trial
Gidich has another chance at a title in the time trial, with Fedorov as the expected main competitor.
Ulysbayev rides a strong race and ends up on the podium, third place for him.
Gidich is 30 seconds faster, looks like a good time.
But not good enough for the title. That goes to Fedorov!
