We entered the month hoping to claim the division title. And the squad left their feet on the gas and got us there in the end!

(The team history and calendar section on the first page have also been updated and there will be some more reviews later on.)

Stage 1 was rather uneventful for us with Rajovic finishing outside of the top 10 in the sprint. Stage 2 saw some huge gaps behind the favourites, but Ranaweera was able to stay with the front group. Stage 3 saw a 4th place from Rajovic in the sprint before the real GC action started. Ranaweera came 9th in the mountaintop finish of stage 4, but with the remnants of the break among the stage top 10 he sat in 4th of the GC before the hilly stage 5. And our Sri Lankan showed once again he’s surprisingly strong in hilly finishes this season, finishing 2nd in the stage and climbing to 3rd in the GC on s.t. with 2nd. The final stage was flat again and Rajovic added another stage top 10 as 9th.

The first stage was a rather quiet one for us, but APP finished in 10th with the main group and Costiou took the white jersey. Stage 2 was essentially the same, although there was a shock moment when APP lost contact to the favourites for some time. Stage 3 was rather flat (at least in comparison) and for some reason Boileau thought this could be his day. He actually was right and finished 2nd in the sprint (which also was his first ever podium), so it would have been interesting what APP could have done. Stage 4 was a TTT and we finished in a good 4th there, this time bringing APP to the line who climbed to 6th in the GC within reach of the podium. The next stage seemed like the Queen Stage of the race but ended up with a big peloton finishing together with APP in 8th. He finished the last stage one place better and stayed in 6th overall.

17-Oct Giro dell'Emilia-Top 25

It’s been another rather mediocre classic for APP as he finished in 13th. But after this season that’s only a footnote anyway.

Age is catching him early... But after we send him out to climb Mont Ventoux a couple of times he's back in form!

Also good to know nobody (else) actually looked at the numbers

In our big season review we’ll have a look at our results we got, how our season goals panned out and how our riders did (one by one).

It’s been the first time ever we didn’t at least double our points from last season, but we scored more than 1000 points better than last year and actually not only promoted but won the division, so we’ll probably get over it.
And here’s an overview of all our podiums (stages, races and classifications) of the season:

In short: we achieved those goals we thought were realistic and missed out on those who were harder (or totally unrealistic) to achieve. In total that results in 3 achieved goals, which is not only a new record but also the same amount we got in our 3 prior seasons, so there’s actually a learning curve!

i.imgur.com/euKMEbx.jpeg

In the end (or is it the end?) we’ll have a look how each one of our riders did – and what plans we have for them in the nearer and more distant future.

rider RDspointsPpkBotDs
Sulkhan Akhmaevi6880,161

Sulkhan was signed as an all-round helper for stage races and especially the TTTs and he did his job quietly all season. As a low wage domestique he has good chances to stay.

rider RDspointsPpkBotDs
Alan Boileau56270,250

Alan had a hard job this season as essentially the main (and sometimes only) domestique of APP. His own scoring wasn’t great at all, but seeing how well his captain did puts that in perspective. And he achieved his first ever podium when the season was nearly done.

rider RDspointsPpkBotDs
Ewen Costiou85470,942

Ewen has done pretty well for a lvl. 3 rider and scored some nice points on his own. He’ll continue his development with us.

rider RDspointsPpkBotDs
Arman Garibian592792,940

Arman was a revelation this season. He won two U25 classifications and podiumed in 6 more. Add some nice depth scoring and a surprising 6th place in the GC of PTHC Tour de Suisse. He amassed nearly 300 points this season and was one of the big overperfomers who allowed us to not only fight for promotion but also for the division title.

rider RDspointsPpkBotDs
Gabriel Grozev15000

Gabriel had the quiet season to be expected by a stagiaire. But given his potential as a punchy domestique, his experience from this season allowing him to be developed even in PT and the higher salary cap in PT he’ll clearly get an offer for a full time contract.

rider RDspointsPpkBotDs
Gasper Katrasnik581301,864

Gasper had only one great result with a podium in Lisbon Classic, but given his wage and the scoring opportunities for rouleurs in PT we’re bound to keep him around as a low wage depth scorer.

rider RDspointsPpkBotDs
Alexandre Kess932n/a1

Alexandre did what we expected from him: just be helpful wherever he had to start. We wish him all the best with cycleYorkshire and hope to (probably) meet him again in the PT pelotons next year.

rider RDspointsPpkBotDs
Jesse Kramer15001

For Jesse it’s essentially the same as with our other stagiaire: he didn’t have much room to shine, but given the new situation in PT he’ll surely get an offer to show himself full time.

rider RDspointsPpkBotDs
Stefan Küng713083,080

Stefan did what we signed him for: he was our captain in those all-rounder racers like Benelux and nearly missed a GC podium in our wildcard appearance in ToNE. He scored over 300 points in the end and although his incoming decline he’ll still be a valuable all-round helper (and maybe depth scorer) next season – as long as his wage demands are reasonable.

rider RDspointsPpkBotDs
Paul Lapeira69890,810

Paul was a crucial part of the successes of the cobbles squad and also scored some nice points himself given he’s not even maxed yet. We’re excited to see how he does in PT after finishing his development!

rider RDspointsPpkBotDs
Matis Louvel682162,161

Matis scored about 200 points and showed his potential as a leader for hilly-cobbled races with a podium in Macskako Kerekparverseny. We really hope to find the funds to allow him some training for the next season.

rider RDspointsPpkBotDs
Lenny Martinez9740,011

This season was all about learning for Lenny so he was our most racing rider this season. We hope he’ll be able to contest in some more breaks next season and be a (co-)leader from 2027 onwards.

rider RDspointsPpkBotDs
Matija Mestric59601,20

Matija has been a loyal helper for our cobbles leader and had the opportunity to co-lead (and show his NC jersey) in the C2 races. He scored decently for himself and given his expected salary there’s no reason why he shouldn’t stay with the team.

rider RDspointsPpkBotDs
Aurelien Paret-Peintre486552,430

APP was less consistent in the classics than last season due to his thinned out support cast, but he also had some great results there with a win in Wallonie or a podium in San Sebastian. And he even did far better in the hilly stage races by adding some big results to his usual consistency, most prominently in Pais Vasco. He ended as the fourth best puncheur of the division with a shared 15th place in the individual rankings.

rider RDspointsPpkBotDs
Thibaut Pinot6790,182

Thibaut was a late addition and essentially worked as our road captain in all the classic stage races. And though his scoring was low (no surprise given his third decline) our stage racers did great, so it’s mission accomplished in his final season with the team.

rider RDspointsPpkBotDs
Nate Pringle871n/a9

Nate continued the tradition of loaned-in riders being our breakaway kings as he was responsible for nearly a third of all our breakaway appearances this season. We’re hopeful to see him make his way with Xero in the years to come.

rider RDspointsPpkBotDs
Alain Quispe71160,252

To be frank, we’re a bit disappointed to see Alain in only two breaks over the entire season. We clearly hoped for more, but on the other hand our breakaway appearances were pretty scarce most of the season, probably because we had GC contenders in the race so often, so it’s hard to call him out on that. And who doesn’t want to see the Peruvian in an early break of a GT next season?

rider RDspointsPpkBotDs
Dusan Rajovic741351,040

Dusan had some bad luck by facing an insanely strong competition in PCT sprints this season, but he did his best to get the occasional stage podium and even a win in Japan. We’ll probably face him ourselves when he’s back with Cedevita the next season.

rider RDspointsPpkBotDs
Suranga Ranaweera447842,990

Suranga surpassed all expectations by finishing as the third best stage racer of the division and just lost his spot in the top 10 of the individual rankings in the final race, scoring nearly 800 points. So as long as those results don’t get to his head (too much) we’ll be happy to see him lead us in a GT next season.

rider RDspointsPpkBotDs
Timo Roosen741111,854

Timo used his opportunities in the C2 races to even get a podium in Geraardsbergen-Bosberg and was also among our most active breakaway riders. If he allows for a decent salary given his incoming decline there’s no reason why he shouldn’t get a renewal.

rider RDspointsPpkBotDs
Kevin Vauquelin551031,290

rider RDspointsPpkBotDs
Ruben Zepuntke634892,450

Deemed a perennial disappointer by some Ruben scored only one podium all season (by winning Kuurne – Bruxelles – Kuurne), but he was incredibly consistent in the cobbled classics over all categories and ended as the third best cobbler of the division with just under 500 points. He’ll be declining, but given his wage hopefully won’t increase (much) he’s about to stay and get a final shot at leading a team in PT.

There’s a bonus segment too! After such a successful season we also had a look at some pre-season predictions of our fellow managers – and want to give a shout-out to one particular believer!
