The last stage of the race is also the queen one. 4 category 1 climbs, the last one being Col de Peyresourde, followed by a small downhill and then another small climb up to Peyragudes. And to no one's surprise today's big favorite is the fresh yellow jersey wearer: pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png Almeida.

With a slight downhill start, you'd think it would be rather easy to see a breakaway being formed. And while there was a group that got away there, which included among others two distinctive jersey wearers pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/dna.png Arifin and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/brc.png Van Eetvelt and two riders from the top 20 in the GC pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/tlt.png Primozic and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/blt.png Burke, the pack fought really hard to bring them back.

And in the middle of the climb we saw a rather huge split in the peloton with 21 riders breakaway away from the others to join the original attackers. The 21 group included the yellow jersey, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png Almeida and the next three riders in the GC: pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mck.png Sosa, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/tlt.png Padun and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/dvt.png Faglum Karlsson, but no one else from the top 10 and got even a 3 minute advantage by the time the first summit of the day was in sight!
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/1.jpg

Such a big group at the front and with some high quality climbers in it as well meant pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/dna.png Arifin will lose out on the KoM points. It was pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/gct.png Arensman who was first at the top just a few centimeters in front of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/spr.png Misbah
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/2.jpg

The top of the climb saw a split in the front group between the riders going for the breakaway and the KoM points and the top GC riders who had no intention on chasing the polka dots jersey. So while the top GC riders kind of sit back and allowed the peloton to catch up to them in the donwhill and in the valley, 9 riders joined the first two riders from the top of the climb to form the breakaway of the day:
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/gct.png Arensman
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/spr.png Misbah
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/brc.png Van Eetvelt
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/tlt.png Primozic
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Rodriguez
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Power
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Lemus Davila

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/pbc.png Schultz
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/3.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/min.png Vosekalns also made it an important part of his tactic to join the breakaway today, but after being caught between the breakaway group and the pack for most of the valley, he gave up by the time we reached the second climb of the day. Great news for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/dna.png Arifin's KoM aspirations who could still win the jersey without scoring any points today, with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/aab.png Johannessen, who started the day only on 20 points and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/gct.png Arensman who won the first climb of the day being the biggest threats from the breakaway.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/spr.png Misbah was the best placed rider in the GC from the breakaway in 15th, a little over 6 minutes behind the yellow jersey. But he did not seem interested in the well being of the breakaway at all, being the only rider to not contribute in the relay. Maybe he was just caught in there after attacking for the KoM points on the first climb or was just being sneaky hoping 4 pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Spark Team NZ riders in the groups would be enough to keep a good lead over the pack
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/4.jpg

But the Sauber rider did not seem as interested in KoM points on the second climb of the day were we saw a very close three way sprint between pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/aab.png Johannessen, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/brc.png Van Eetvelt and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/gct.png Arensman
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/5.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/spr.png Misbah could have tried going for the easy bonus seconds today, but he probably was afraid of angering his fellow escapees. The top 3 at the intermediate sprints:

2nd
3rd
Sprint #1pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Lemus Davilapcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Powerpcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/aab.png Johannessen
Sprint #2pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Ahmad Zamripcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Rodriguezpcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Power

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png Mol were controlling the pace in the pack, but didn't seem to bother too much with the fact that pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/spr.png Misbah was not that far in the GC and allowed the breakaway to have an advantage of over 9 minutes by the time we reached the third climb of the day, putting the Sauber rider in the virtual yellow jersey
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/6.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/tlt.png Trans Looney Tunes were bothered by that gap though, maybe they are preparing an attack for Padun or maybe they are scared pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Spark would steal their top place in the teams rankings, they took over from pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png Mol and had cut the deficit in half by the time the summit was reached by the pack
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/7.jpg

Speaking of the third summit of the day, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/gct.png Arensman was first there followed by pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Power and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Lemus Davila. A huge statement from the Dutchman in the KoM battle, but he will need all the remaining points left to win it now. A tough challenge but not impossible!
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/8.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/gct.png Arensman pushed really hard on the downhill which saw the breakaway's gap grow back to 5 minutes by the time we reached Col de Peyresourde. But only 9 riders were still at the front with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Rodriguez and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Ahmad Zamri dropped. It looks like they throw in everything they had for their other team - mates in the breakaway
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/9.jpg

But once the pack reached the climb, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/tlt.png Trans Looney Tunes put the hammer down once again and the gap rapidly started going down
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/10.jpg

And at the 10km banner and with the escapees barely visible up the road, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/tlt.png Padun made his move even though his team - mates still looked strong enough
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/11.jpg

But pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/tlt.png Padun must definitely feel very strong today as only one rider is able to match his acceleration and unluckily for him it's the yellow jersey wearer, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png Almeida
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/12.jpg

With the news of moves being made in the favorites group, action started in the front group as well. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Power put in a strong acceleration and only pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/spr.png Misbah was able to follow him
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/13.jpg

The duo reached the summit together and this marked the end of the battle for the KoM jersey. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/dna.png Arifin will take it despite not scoring any points in the queen stage!
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/14.jpg

Behind them pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png Almeida cooperated with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/tlt.png Padun and the two joined the remnants of the breakaway at the top of the climb, with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/brc.png Amezawa also making the jump from behind to join this chasing right before the downhill
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/15.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/spr.png Misbah didn't work in a group of 11, didn't work in a group of 9 and he doesn't want to work in a group of 2 either. And seeing this, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Power attacks as soon as the roads starts going uphill again
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/16.jpg

Even though he doesn't want to cooperate, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/spr.png Misbah had no trouble following pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Power's wheel, but behind them the 3 favorites have dropped the other escapees and are certainly cooperating better as they chase down the last 2 escapees left on the road
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/17.jpg

Three times, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Power tried to drop pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/spr.png Misbah on the last climb and three times the Sauber riders responded. But beyond these 3 attacks, they spent a lot of time playing games and with 600 meters left from the race, the trio of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png Almeida, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/tlt.png Padun and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/brc.png Amezawa caught up to them
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/18.jpg

And quickly after that, the freshest rider in the race (Pfft) puts in an attack and the only one that seem able to match his speed is pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/tlt.png Padun
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/19.jpg

But pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/spr.png Misbah has enough left in the tank to hold off everyone in that group and he celebrates the stage win
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/20.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/tlt.png Padun is second, most likely disappointed he was not able to reward his team-mates' amazing work with a stage win. Same for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/snz.png Power, who finishes third and had 3 team-mates in the breakaway today.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/21.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png Almeida looked slow at the finish line, but maybe he was just a bit too relaxed after it became obvious he had the overall win in the bag. Luckily for him no time gaps (not that it would have mattered, actually) are awarded between the top 5, despite a small gap between him and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/brc.png Amezawa and the Japanese rider and the Aussie in third place as well.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/22.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/iec.png Novak leads the next group of favorites over the finish line, 39 seconds behind the winner, with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eve.png Rodrigues and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/lot.png Min, while a gap is given behind them to pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/znf.png Elosegui and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/cko.png Eastman, who finished a further 15 seconds down. Very disappointing race for the American. Quite invisible outside the time - trial. And he will be outside of the top 10 in the GC.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/23.jpg

Spent and losing time at the finish line was also the first leader of the race, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mck.png Sosa, but the Colombian managed to limit his losses well and will lose only one spot in the GC and will keep a place on the podium. Finishing right next to him, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/dvt.png Faglum Karlsson will not be as lucky and he will drop 2 places from 4th to 6th
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Reports/HC/Andorra/s5/24.jpg

So our final podium of the race is pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png Almeida, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/tlt.png Padun and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mck.png Sosa. The same ones that started the day on the podium, but with a switch between the 2nd and 3rd place.

No changes at all in terms of top spots in any of the classifications, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/mol.png Almeida defending green (almost impossible to lose it anyway), pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/dna.png Arifin a bit lucky to defend the polka dots as he missed out on the breakaway today, while pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/brc.png Van Eetvelt and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/tlt.png Trans Looney Tunes actually increased their leads today

A great day for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/spr.png Misbah, a stage win and a jump of 5 places up to 10th in the GC. On the biggest downside of the day, we had pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2025/Micros/eko.png Ranaweera who dropped out of the top 10, down to 14th.
