Paris - Tours (HC) - Preview
Bonjour tout le monde and welcome to France for the most beautiful race of the season, Paris - Tours. The race will not start in Paris, but in Chartres, which is around a 1h15 min drive from Paris. We will arrive in Tours though, so at least 50% of the race is still true.
The race has been upgraded to HC after a longer spell in C1 and C2HC (the OG's will remember), having been won by Lierse's Bonifazio in the last two years in C1. Back in 2007 and 2008 the race was still ProTour (what?), with the 2008 being won by the almighty Tom Boonen.
Let's have a look at the profile.
With names like Bonifazio and Boonen, you could have expected it. It's a sprinter's race. Not entirely flat, but flat enough to be considered more than flat. So let's have a look at the best sprinters present at the startline tomorrow.
| Fl | Sta | Res | Spr | Acc | Ewan | 75 | 73 | 71 | 83 | 81 | Coquard | 72 | 69 | 72 | 83 | 81 | Grosu | 72 | 73 | 69 | 82 | 79 | Dainese | 76 | 75 | 76 | 81 | 82 | Zabel | 74 | 74 | 70 | 81 | 79 | Enger | 73 | 71 | 73 | 81 | 78 | Van Poppel | 72 | 74 | 71 | 81 | 78 | Liu | 74 | 76 | 69 | 80 | 80 | Jakobsen | 74 | 75 | 73 | 80 | 80 | Peak | 80 | 73 | 77 | 80 | 78 | Einhorn | 74 | 71 | 71 | 80 | 78 | Hodeg | 72 | 69 | 74 | 79 | 78 | Willwohl | 73 | 71 | 67 | 79 | 78 | Adomaitis | 75 | 66 | 74 | 79 | 78 | Kamberaj | 75 | 73 | 73 | 79 | 78 | Riabushenko | 76 | 71 | 74 | 79 | 77 | Welten | 76 | 72 | 71 | 79 | 75 | Rajovic | 72 | 70 | 76 | 78 | 82 |
Ewan, Coquard and Dainese as the big 3, but others such as Grosu, Zabel, Engel, Van Poppel, Liu, Jakobsen etc. not too far behind either.
A rouleur can also upset the sprinters of course, so let's see who the best rouleurs are.
| Fl | Sta | Res | Spr | Acc | Quispe | 81 | 63 | 61 | 67 | 74 | Katrasnik | 81 | 72 | 76 | 63 | 72 | Veyhe | 80 | 66 | 71 | 56 | 78 | Manamalage | 80 | 69 | 62 | 56 | 54 | Culey | 79 | 77 | 76 | 66 | 70 | Lauk | 78 | 71 | 70 | 76 | 76 | Rickaert | 78 | 75 | 75 | 75 | 73 | Wisniowski | 78 | 72 | 73 | 71 | 73 | Hvideberg | 78 | 74 | 74 | 65 | 65 | Hamza | 77 | 73 | 72 | 77 | 77 | Dekker | 77 | 81 | 77 | 77 | 76 | Girmay | 77 | 76 | 76 | 77 | 76 | Kooistra | 77 | 73 | 69 | 76 | 76 | Medvedev | 77 | 77 | 77 | 71 | 70 | Castrillo | 77 | 75 | 72 | 70 | 73 | Louvel | 77 | 75 | 78 | 67 | 67 |
Some of those can also be catalogued as sprinters of course, so it remains to be seen what tactics they'll choose tomorrow in the team car. One thing is certain, Quispe is a legend. Good luck to all!
Full startlist below.

Thanks for the preview Nemo, thanks for posting it Abhi!
We come here with multiple strings to play on but without a proper leadout for Van Poppel, I am praying for a rerun of what we saw in Lisbon with Medvedev taking the win but I think this race is better suited for the bunch sprint, thus I am going to call a win for Dainese!

Thanks for the great preview, Nemo! It's always cool to be reminded that Quispe is a legend, although he hasn't shown it really this season.
I'd take that as well with Katrasnik in 2nd.

We're back after a dry spell. Our last race of the month not containing cobbles so for points we need to make the most of it

First time racing in a while. Thanks for the preview
So many of these races have been a sprint. If so, Sam or Castrillo can cause some havoc. Otherwise Jakobsen to push for a Top 5 if it does come down to a sprint battle.

Hoped for slightly better than 24th, but can't be unhappy with the effort from the guys. Two in the break (Holzer not Hofer I suppose ), and a late attack from Manamalage.
Thanks for the preview Nemo and the report Abhi

Congrats to quadsas and thanks for the report, Abhi!
We had high hopes when both Katrasnik and Quispe where in the late move, but none of them making it in the end was quite a bummer.

The sprinter teams never being able to keep it together in these races is getting insane but at least there was only 1 in front. This allowed Jakobsen to take 4th which achieves the goal I set for us here of a Top 5.
Congrats to quadsas and thanks for the report!!

Bang, exactly what Varga was signed for and he has delivered. Hard to believe he was the one with enough DAWG and GRIT to survive out of that group

Definitely not the result we wanted. 15th is a disappointing place for Coquard.
Congrats to the winner. Great late attack! And thanks for the report!

Almost missed this one with all the Balkans and ToA reports. Really surprised with Adomaitis here. He's been very low key in quieter fields so it feels quite lucky to have him win the sprint here in such a stacked startlist. Too bad there was a more blessed rider up the road taking away the chance for a first win of the season. Congrat quadsas and thanks for the report Abi!
