Stage Profile

Week two of the Tour of America starts with the first classified mountain stage. It's a mostly flat stage until the finish and the double climb of Crystal Reservoir and Pikes Peek.

It'a a cruel weather day with strong winds in addition to some snow in the air, but we are in Colorado after all. Our breakaway here has many good climbers so they shouldn't be discounted for the stage win:

Laas scoops up 5 points at the category 4 KOM to extend his lead. Breakway has a 5 minute advantage at this point.

We are just under 40 km from the finish now. The 12 riders lead is at 6 minutes and while the climb of Crystal Reservoir hasn't officially begun we are pretty much all uphill from this point on.

Laas is more of a puncheur than pure climber. He loses contact before the top of the cat. 2 climb. Not sure going into the breakaway for just 5 points is worth it in the long run.
