Giro dell'Emilia
Greetings from the Italian province of Emilia-Romagna for the 10th edition of the Giro dell'Emilia. This is part of the Season Finale Triple and by fat the most important of the three for the PCT teams as this is a HC race and the fates of many teams will be decided here in the 190 km route from Bologna to San Luca. Last year Joseph Areruya won the race caping off a really tremendous season for Xero Racing as the team won promotion back to the PT. Areruya chose to stay with Xero in their PT journey this year, so we won't be seeing him here. 2022 winner Tiesj Benoot will be present however, looking to win back the crown he lost last year, once again riding for Sony - Force India. 2021 winner Tomohiro Kinoshita will also look to take his second win after missing the 2023 edition. 2020 winner Oleksandr Prevar is past his prime now, but he is yet another former winner here. 2018 winner Jay McCarthy and 2015 winner Wilco Kelderman are also present in the starting lineup. Apart from Areruya, the only other former winner to miss the race is Eduard Alexander Beltran, who now races for Spark Team NZ in the CT division and his team couldn't get the only slot left availlable for the CT teams. But how are the favourites stacking up?
| Rider | MT | HI | ST | RS | SP | AC | Kinoshita | 71 | 82 | 79 | 76 | 67 | 76 | McCarthy | 67 | 82 | 80 | 75 | 65 | 74 | Buchmann | 76 | 81 | 73 | 74 | 65 | 73 | Benoot | 75 | 81 | 75 | 74 | 69 | 71 | Stannard | 73 | 81 | 75 | 76 | 69 | 78 | Vakoc | 71 | 81 | 75 | 71 | 71 | 74 | Kelderman | 70 | 81 | 79 | 74 | 66 | 71 | Van Niekerk | 75 | 80 | 72 | 75 | 64 | 74 | Müller | 67 | 80 | 76 | 71 | 66 | 73 | De Plus | 77 | 79 | 74 | 73 | 61 | 72 | Hirschi | 77 | 79 | 78 | 78 | 66 | 75 | Bagioli | 73 | 79 | 77 | 73 | 71 | 78 | Edmondson | 69 | 79 | 75 | 72 | 70 | 76 | Borges | 69 | 79 | 73 | 71 | 70 | 79 | Turgis | 67 | 79 | 76 | 78 | 70 | 77 | Tesfatsion | 76 | 78 | 68 | 72 | 69 | 78 | Teuns | 75 | 78 | 73 | 73 | 66 | 72 | Budyak | 74 | 78 | 72 | 67 | 57 | 68 | Dyrnes | 72 | 78 | 73 | 73 | 65 | 77 | Lagane | 70 | 78 | 70 | 71 | 76 | 77 |
Most of the former winners are unsurprisingly in the list of hot favourites. The panel gives small advantage to Kinoshita due to his slightly superior mountain stats. Jay McCarthy is in a really peculiar spot right now as the his team's fate is currently unknown (will be discussed seperately in our ranking spotlight) but he's eager to finish the season on a high note. Buchmann was so close, yet so far last year as he tries again to finally be on the top. Benoot, like McCarthy and Kinoshita, as well as Kelderman will look to become the first rider since Damiano Cunego to win this race twice.
And here is the startlist for the final PCT race - stay tuned for our promotion and relegation analysis in the evening.

Questions will be answered
Disclaimer - these results are provisional and aren't official
As mentioned, we will dissect the battles that are going on here and how this final PCT race will shape the future of the teams.
| 1 | ELCO - ABEA | 4049 | | 2 | ISA - Hexacta | 3799 |
Currently, only 50 points separate ELCO - ABEA and ISA - Hexacta. This means that the battle for the crown will be tense and will not be known until the final rider crosses the finishing line. ELCO have secured themselves a return to the PT division, but shockingly that's not the case for ISA - due to many inactivity infractions the team has been denied a license for next season. Which leaves a PT spot open for the teams beyond 5th place.
| 5 | Team UBS | 3088 | | 6 | Benetton Bimex Cycling | 3073 | | 7 | Indosat Ooredoo | 3064 |
24 points separate three teams, fighting for two promotion spots (again, I'd like to remind that what you see is only provisional, so take this with a grain of salt) and almost certainly one team will miss out. Team UBS so far gets the upper hand according to the panel with Buchmann and Müller. Indosat isn't that far behind with Bagioli, but will Yudha prove to be close enough to the promotion rivals? And of the three teams, sadly Benetton has the most inferior lineup with Vliegen as the panel's top pick. Sure, they also have Rafael Reis in their ranks here, but he's more of a climbe stage racer than a hilly specialist. But then again, even the weirdest of results can occur.
| 19 | Manada Coyote | 1813 | | 20 | JEWA TIROL | 1780 |
JEWA TIROL must be ecstatic from their GC win in Tour of Britain and are just 33 points behind Manada Coyote. The outcome of this race will have major rammifications not only for these two teams, but for 4 teams in the CT division. As we already mentioned, ISA - Hexacta will be administratively denied license next season due to multiple inactivity infractions. Similar fate also has the resident Eastern European team Team Popo4Ever p/b Morshynska. And while they're not on the 'hit list' Manada Coyote have been radio silent recently, which caused some concern from the MGUCI board regarding their continuation (which is why we've said that Jay McCarthy is in an unusual position). This also affects the 8th place team in the CT division - Spark Team NZ. The New Zealand outfit will have to rely on Manada to fend off JEWA TIROL's assault to have a theoretical chance of promotion, should the MGUCI denies the team from Central America a license. However, if JEWA leapfrogs them in the standings, this means that whoever is in 8th after Zuri Metgete, it's Game Over.
It is worth pointing out that Team Würth MODYF is one of the four teams involved in the promotion battle in CT. They're sitting in 7th and for them any point will be a plus. Genii Hyundai N Cycling my be still 6th, but their gap to the German outfit is just two points and with Tour of Britain didn't went as planned the Luxembourg-registered squad are at disadvantage. But so are Duvel-Tsingtao and Spark Team NZ in this case.

Really loved reading this! Great job with the preview and the battle post.
However, just one question:
Will we have a survivor?
19 Manada Coyote 1813
20 JEWA TIROL 1780
Last time I checked, on the previous ranking, Tafjord were in between these two teams fighting for relegation. Are we already doomed? |

Well, JEWA's strong performance in Tour of Britain did give them a huge boost - 170 points to my calculations, which was enough to leapfrog your team and Manada are looking over their shoulder now.
Everestring seem to have also hit their stride in the last few races as they are more or less safe and if my calculations are correct, they have the best points total for this month.
Based on my calculations (not official until Fabianski releases the rankings) Tafjord is 84 points behind JEWA right now. Your team does have Dyrnes in the list of potential favourites, though it's a little on the 'outsider' side. But if you score well and all pieces align pefectly for you, you may be within a shot of staying

Hehehe. that's what I feared. Thank you for the quick reply and magnificent preview. Let's hope Dyrnes win the whole thing |

Tough start list, likely too hard for Narvaez, so good we don't have much at stake. Top 10 finish is a goal but think that is already gone.
Good luck to all.

Thanks a lot for the preview! Is there 50 points or 250 points between ISA and ELCO? The points say 250, and the text say 50
Regardless, it has been a super fun season the be part of, and it has given some nice tactical choices which I guess I have missed a bit after being at the PT for so many years.
We don’t bring a very good team for this race, so whatever We Can get is a bonus

We will see what’s require when the pre-race ranking update is posted, but we’re gonna need a big race here to be safe. Bagioli has been a revelation this season, and although Britain was disappointing, it appeared to be AI kind of shenanigans regarding positioning as opposed to not being up for it that prevented him from really competing. We have a really good team here as well, hopefully they can keep Bagioli there or thereabouts until the finale. Best of luck to all who need it, and to UBS and Benetton also of course. Thank you for the preview!

Hoping that Benoot can keep going with the good results we have had in this race. It's also a Top 5 goal, so it's kind of important for next season.
Thanks for the preview!

I fear we're simply doomed. Had hoped to have built a big enough buffer before coming here but I'd say it's over. Only team out of three who doesn't have a fitting leader present, and with the tiny 'supposed' gap in the current scores whoever finishes last out of the three of us will miss out. We had no business being this high up this year anyhow, but I won't concede defeat untill we pass the finish line. Good luck to Eden and UBS, may the best teams win and make it to the promosed lands
Thanks for the preview

Not much to ride for here for us and APP also not mentioned in the preview. Let's hope the team isn't already in their holidays nonetheless.
Thanks for the preview, ivan, and good luck to all!

As has happened in the past we kind of fall asleep after the TOA, Can't afford next year given the calendar changes. At least Sosa wok up for one key stage in Britain. Probably this is a race for him next year.
Congrats to SotD on a quick bounce back and to all the others who promote. Thanks to JT for a great report tracking all the point movement.
