We didn't come to the Giro with lofty goals. We knew it's not our strongest lineup, but failing to meet even our modest expectations was a bitter pill to swallow. We weren't good enough and as such we will need to deal with the fallout of this result.

Really disappointing result. It was weird to see that Tao was often dropped early. For me, he was a Top 5 contender with this startlist, as I consider him a clearly better rider than Stüssi (who missed out on Top 5 by 20" or so).
Hopefully he'll bounce back later in the year and prove his worth once again

His season is close to over so a bounce back is pretty much impossible.

A familiar sight as Ivan Siric sprints behind the race winner yet again
Martin Hvastija:
We had a good strategy to put Salby in the early breakaway. Ivan tested his legs with an attack in the last 30 km, but he made the right decision of following the wheels. It was a decent sized group sprint, but this time he showed the kind of sprint he can do at the end of a race.

The Giro was quite disappointing with the early spark fizzling out very quickly. Siric has been having a great season and delivered again in Roma-Maxima.

Katrasnik attacking on his way to a 2nd place finish
Martin Hvastija:
A rouleur focused strategy spearheaded by Katrasnik paid off here. I have to commend the lads on how they stayed on their toes as the race unwrapped. It was good teamwork to put Gasper in position to make his attack. Regardless of the result this was a good performance.

We showed what we are capable of in Veenendaal so we have to look to reproduce that type of effort. Getting in the early breakaway should help us out. At the same time it's a different race, a Pro Tour one with the very best sprinters present. It's not quite realistic to compete for the top spots.

The months featuring a Grand Tour can easily be split into two parts. The Grand Tour and every other race, in this case all the other races were classics. First off, the Giro was a big disappointment. We failed to finish according to projections in the team time-trial, we scored less points than we anticipated before the race and most importantly we failed our sponsor's goal for a top 10 finish. All in all a race to forget.
The classics were a mixed bag. We again struggled to make our mark in Roubaix. The Amstel Gold Race was never going to be a golden goose. The let-down proved to be GP Liechtenstein. Tadej's off-season training didn't show as he finished 7th, only one place above last year's result. We scored better than expected in the two PTHC classics Roma Maxima and Veenendaal-Veenendaal, a runner up in both races.
The last results made sure this period wasn't a total disaster, but the fact remains we are slowly sliding down the ranking table. Ivan Siric has really improved this season as he's on the way to doubling his point total from last season. Gasper Katrasnik has also been a good contributor so far. With Tadej we won't really be able to judge him until July, but we desperately need to find point scoring in the meantime.

Still a nice gap towards the bottom five, which I guess in the end is the most important thing in a transition year and after some big training. Good to see Siric has actually improved quite a bit and remains being a great rider for you, bodes well for the future as well. Good luck in May!

Transition year? But I have no idea what I'm transitioning to. When the riders I trained are better than before, but overall I'm much worse then the future prospects are pretty bleak

We can't afford to be passive. We have to attack every stage and try to get something from that. GC is meaningless here, it's all about stage results and hunting KOM points. Everyone can ride for themselves, unless we have multiple riders in the breakaway. In that case we should prioritise Buitrago. Rajovic will try his luck in the sprint stages.

Think Cheshire was a good result, with a decent outcome for Siric and a very good one for Poljnanec. Koln wasn't though.

Spoiler Seriously, your results this month mostly suck, especially in combination with the pretty inactive racing in both Vueltas. And with all those big GC names probably racing in the Tour de France (given the rather weak startlists in the other GTs) Pogacar will have a hard time to shine there, too. But I'm optimistic you'll not get in relegation danger anyway which should be the most important thing, though you're surely rather eyeing for the top 10.

The Vueltas have surely vaulted you down the rankings table. Better races are coming in the horizon, so this form should turn around soon.

Gorazd Stangelj:
We are in desperate need for points so Tadej will have to aim for a podium finish. We also need depth scoring from our other climbers. At this point in the season we are already so far behind that we need every point we can get!

Marko Polanc:
Against all odds we have to aim for a top 5 overall finish with Tao. His only real support is Daniel Habtemichael. We also need Dusan Rajovic to perform in the sprint stage.
