The E3 Classic mostly stands out for having the three defining riders of the spring season, Wout van Aert, Tadej Pogacar and Mathieu Van der Poel sprinting for the win between them, with the rare better end for Van Aert. The Giro had a lot of action, from rider protests over breakaway shenanigans from the likes of Derek Gee and Thibaut Pinot, who won the mountain jersey in his penultimate career Grand Tour, to a GC decided by 14 seconds. The GC wasn’t close at the Tour, but it also had incredible moments, including great duels between Pogacar and Vingegaard in the early stages, fantastic breakaway stories including, again, Thibaut Pinot and more.
