Stage 8

Day 3 in the mountains and itâ€™s a pretty different stage to yesterday. Thereâ€™s no long final climb today, but rather a constant up and down with 4 cat. 2climbs in the last 70 km and a final descent. With up to 40 KoM points on offer too thereâ€™s probably a big fight incoming for being in the break.

Itâ€™s not much happening in the next racing hours as there are no intermediate sprints and the KoM sprints only coming late in the stage. We have a short look at the situation with 85 km to go. The break is in an unclassified climb with the peloton 2â€™46 behind.

Kozhatayev used the KoM sprint to attack and the others just looked at each other! Only 2.5 km after the sprint he has a gap of 1â€™20 and only 6.6 km of descending to do. This should be the stage win for him as well as the GC lead â€“ and maybe a decisive move for taking the entire race as well?
