A Data Driven Preview [CT]
Dippofix
Thank you for creating such an in-depth prediction, really interesting to get such a good overview of all our competitors this year. As someone who hasn't kept up with the MG or indeed played PCM for the best part of a decade, it's really interesting to see how certain stat combos and team builds are perceived, and this knowledge will certainly come in handy next transfer season!

Very exciting to see Ethiopian Airlines so high up, it will be interesting to see if our depth scoring strategy can indeed be as successful as your model predicts. I think 7th place is probably the absolute best-case scenario unless Bystrom does something really special and unexpected in the hills. A top 10 finish would already constitute a very successful first season back IMO, especially taking into account how well the other new managers have built their teams.

And we are into the top 5 now!

1-4 left to go with

Simba Cement - Tanga Fresh
Newton Foundation p/b Zwift
Gjensidige Pro Cycling Team
Duvel-Tsingtao
battling for the number 1 spot

Thanks, Dippo there's certainly been a lot of changes since we were last here Grin

I like your team a lot just with the number of riders that could score though obviously not all will that should be a fair number of points throughout the season and each point matters at this level when the margins are likely to be less the 150 between most teams.

My scoring not taking Bystrom doing great scoring (think he will do okay and hit top 30-40 overall).

Not sure how much we're battling for the number 1 spot Pfft
I'm excited to see how high your expectations are for our team, though.

Nice to see us be first in something (depth).
I would like to see some scoring from Manfredi and Seboka, but 75 points in total from them would be fine.
Kozhateyev won't be the favorite for any races, but top-5 should be within reach for many stage races as he has decent backup stats and support.
All in all, I think your preview for us is pretty spot-on, and we'll be more than happy to take 5th place and a promotion at the end of the season.

Wow, I have to say 2nd place would be extremely lofty for this first year's effort. But you're the expert, jt, so I have to trust you Wink

In all seriousness, while team building is one of the parts of MG I've always enjoyed (and feel I'm decent at), planning is not. So let's see how team management has contrived to bungle this! I do think the solid depth riders will be extra helpful to overcome my shortfalls - looking back at the roster, I'm really pleased with the likes of Roosen, Egger, Figueiredo, Noppe, Dewulf and of course, Hermans.

Hopefully a fun season to come in 2024. Thanks for doing this preview jt, and thanks for the confidence. Let's see if we can back that up!
