It's shaping up to be a very strong season for you in PT this time

@Jak: I promise he'll be in good hands for years to come. Can't make any promises about training yet
@Sean: Merchan is going to stun the cycling world in Roubaix, and we'd have been the only ones to believe in him from the start!
@Ezee: Indeed, I would like to thank the people giving me money again
@red: That is the plan. But in case it's not enough for survival, I believe we now have a young enough team to try and bounceback again in PCT, as well as having mostly sellable assets on the team.
The one guy that perhaps might not be as sellable any longer next year is our latest FA pick up though, our second FA of the season. Please welcome...
Nat. | Name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | Age | | Panagiotis Vlatos | 70 | 50 | 64 | 79 | 70 | 68 | 62 | 66 | 65 | 63 | 66 | 50 | 79 | 34 |
Panagiotis Vlatos! An absolute legend who has been part of the ELCO - ABEA team since 2012 (!), and who was able to amass the title of Titan in Greece. The man has scored over 3.300 points in his rich career, and hopes to add some more PT points to his tally this season. He'll primarily be used in our (T)TT squad, which obviously isn't a surprise, looking at his stats. It is an absolute honour to have a rider with his experience and palmares on the team.
@Abhi: I'm glad to hear that I haven't gotten rid of you yet!

Talent time! We were able to sign Fisher-Black as our level 2 talent this year, but, unlike last year, we were also able to sign a level one talent. Two actually. One regional, one not so regional.
Nat. | Name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | XP | | Hatem Ben Ameur | 69 | 62 | 65 | 67 | 70 | 69 | 64 | 63 | 64 | 64 | 67 | 60 | 63 | 1.0 | | Hatem Ben Ameur | 72 | 71 | 70 | 74 | 77 | 74 | 71 | 63 | 64 | 65 | 68 | 61 | 70 | 4.100 | | Hatem Ben Ameur | 76 | 63 | 68 | 76 | 75 | 74 | 71 | 63 | 64 | 64 | 72 | 61 | 72 | 4.100 | | Alex Malacarne | 68 | 56 | 67 | 59 | 69 | 67 | 60 | 69 | 69 | 65 | 70 | 60 | 60 | 1.0 | | Alex Malacarne | 73 | 56 | 72 | 59 | 74 | 70 | 63 | 76 | 69 | 65 | 75 | 61 | 60 | 4.100 | | Alex Malacarne | 73 | 56 | 68 | 59 | 76 | 72 | 63 | 76 | 74 | 66 | 71 | 60 | 60 | 4.100 |
Tunisian Hatem Ben Ameur joins us as a decent rouleur as well as time trialist, who could also just follow the stage race path for a bit of everything. Solid back-ups as well, and 50% of the Tunisian contracted riders in the MG. As former Bralirwa rider, Tunisian star Khederi, is declining and is now possible racing his final season in his career, Ben Ameur is ready to take over his duties. Coincidentally he will also take the first steps of his career at Bralirwa - Cegeka, a team he definitely followed in the past years, cheering for his own idol.
Los Pollos Hermanos had great times with Brazilians Carlos Manarelli and loanee Murilo Affonso, with the former rider grabbing the first ever win of the team. Ever since they left us after the second season, Brazilian clothing sponsor Kirschner was asking team management to add a Brazilian to the squad. And we listened. Cobbler talent Alex Malacarne is ready to one day be a great domestique for our cobbles leader, whoever that may be. Or maybe he receives some training and becomes the first really good Brazilian cobbler? One thing is certain, he will learn heaps this year at Specialized, where he'll aim to assist Kasperkiewickzckz in as many victories as possible.

The strength of your team scares me as the battle for maintaining PT status will be a tough one. Eastman in particular a great rider to get in for this season while Halvorsen should be a very good points scorer too. Of course loving the Regional talent gets too.

Wow, love to see you doing this well with transfers but can't say it doesn't scare me as well. TTTs, great leaders, solid domestiques and depth, great work

Really excited for what Malacarne might do. Got some great potential and ability to support. Sad I didn't pull the trigger earlier but happy to see him with you.
Fascinated to see what the team looks like in full once all is said and done. Think you'll be able to really focus your planning to stay up in PT and be a contender for sure

Congrats. The already good core improved nicely. I think the team probably favourite for the Rookie of the Yeare title, and for even more. |

Vlatos should be a great addition to the already strong TTT unit, as also on flat TTs by himself. Couple of promising talent pickups here as well. Oxxo building towards a better shot at establishing themselves as a PT team for sure.

Some really nice riders you added (and also traded away!) there. And - from a PCT pov - it's really nice you actually managed to only take from the PCT and so generously gave to PT and CT! No Eastman, Manninen, Halvorsen or Zepuntke around anymore could actually benefit us others a lot

@LLS and jandal: Thanks for the kind words, but when looking at your teams I don't know/think you should be scared of me more than I should be of you Looking forward to our battles this year!
@Sean: One man's sadness is another man's gladness. I'm sure you are slightly less disappointed when I remind you that you were able to sign Revelo (at a low wage)
@jaxika: also thanks for the kinds words, but calling me rookie of the year when jandal comfortably added Manninen and ganna (among others) to Areruya and Pidcock, and having seen some of the other deals for the other managers, might be a bit too soon. We'll come back to this in a couple of months
@ Abhi: Vlatos is a fun (probably) one year signing, and it's interesting to have a rider with his rich career and history in the team. Hope his experience can get to the youngsters who are improving their tt skills!
@kb: My biggest goal this transfer season was to make sure PCT became less competitive

Yeah, guess that's the difference between a team that reached its goals (yours) and one that didn't (mine) Awesome signings, having just a couple of dollars (or euros) more than your rivals in the decisive negotiations. Also some great selling talents, seeing some outgoing riders' fees
Not happy riding against you for another year, this time with even less of a chance obviously. But we'll still try as hard as we can

@Fab: I guess it did help I was able to sell some riders at a good price with the 'right' demand for those riders as well during these transfers both for their skills but also nationality-wise etc. As always, I on the other hand am happy to ride in the same division as you. A shame you don't like me as much
Time for our last signing this transfer season, or at least we assume so. We do have Halvorsen for the sprints, but we thought a little extra firepower on flat stages couldn't hurt. Please welcome...
Nat. | Name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | Age | | Gabriel Marin | 74 | 57 | 65 | 65 | 73 | 73 | 76 | 67 | 78 | 78 | 63 | 66 | 69 | 30 |
Costa Rican national champion Gabriel Marin! The sponsors surely are happy with another (possibly scoring) latino on the team, as we really wanted a second sprinter. For a while we believed it could be our former rider Matthew Walls, but the young Brit's price card was a bit too high for us, so we settled with the Costa Rican champion. Rumours have it the sponsors of his former team, Manada - Coyote, are unhappy with this move though. We do believe the experience he gained there should help him in his stage hunting year for us, and as he is a former Gjensidige talent we are sure he has what it takes to collect some nice results here and there.

It's not you that I don't like, it's riding against your team In particular given that there are at least two riders in there I'd have loved to sign, so that will remind my in every race how hard I failed transfers this time ^^

Your shirt maker will have a hard time making all the NC shirts you need.
But nice addition, I assume he will be on a nice wage and even if he wont score a lot I am sure he will be a great help for Halvorsen.
I also like the talents added lately. May not be the most astonishing when you look at them now but i am sure they will be kinda valuable in the future for any team.

@Fab: Sadly you were one of the more unlucky ones (so far?) this transfer season. Hope next time stuff goes more your way..
@Ezee: He told me he'd spend like 20 seconds on each jersey, so we'll see what comes out of that Very likely that Halvorsen and Marin don't see each other in any race to tell you the truth. And indeed, not the most amazing talents, but that was to be expected of late 50k pick ups

Marin is a nice pickup from FA given how crazy sprinter bidding can get. Always nice to be able to cover all the flat RDs with sprinters.

Indeed, and it helps that he's regional. Might not score too much, but around 100 points could be doable.
As our transfers seem to be over, we wanted to give one quick overview of the outgoing and incoming names. Let's start with the outgoing riders.
Nat. | Name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | Age | | Matti Manninen | 74 | 65 | 66 | 69 | 71 | 75 | 77 | 58 | 81 | 80 | 70 | 71 | 76 | 32 | | Ruben Zepuntke | 72 | 56 | 69 | 65 | 79 | 72 | 64 | 82 | 72 | 65 | 66 | 68 | 65 | 31 | | Luca Sterbini | 68 | 56 | 66 | 78 | 74 | 73 | 67 | 63 | 57 | 67 | 71 | 65 | 78 | 32 | | Beka Nareklishvili | 72 | 61 | 66 | 75 | 73 | 73 | 71 | 77 | 64 | 71 | 68 | 62 | 76 | 28 |
Superstar Matti Manninen leaves us after three stellar seasons and will leave us eating dust many times, as he joins other PT team Xero Racing. Our two cobblers in Ruben Zepuntke and Beka Nareklishvili leave for CT together, as they will hopefully win a lot for their new team, Team Würth MODYF. Italian time trialist and first season signing Luca Sterbini also joins them in the CT division, as he joins our latino amigos at Euskadi-Murias.
On the the newly signed riders then.
Nat. | Name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | XP | Age | | Ryan Eastman | 70 | 82 | 71 | 77 | 76 | 75 | 76 | 56 | 62 | 69 | 73 | 66 | 73 | 4.100 | 32 | | Kristoffer Halvorsen | 76 | 58 | 65 | 63 | 74 | 71 | 80 | 70 | 81 | 80 | 70 | 61 | 68 | 4.100 | 28 | | Gabriel Marin | 74 | 57 | 65 | 65 | 73 | 73 | 76 | 67 | 78 | 78 | 63 | 66 | 69 | 4.100 | 30 | | Bilguunjargal Erdenebat | 75 | 60 | 65 | 78 | 77 | 78 | 74 | 51 | 59 | 64 | 69 | 68 | 79 | 4.100 | 27 | | Daniel Eaton | 75 | 62 | 69 | 77 | 74 | 76 | 74 | 67 | 62 | 68 | 70 | 66 | 77 | 4.100 | 31 | | Panagiotis Vlatos | 70 | 50 | 64 | 79 | 70 | 68 | 62 | 66 | 65 | 63 | 66 | 50 | 79 | 4.100 | 34 | | Didier Merchan | 63 | 77 | 69 | 59 | 67 | 68 | 70 | 58 | 58 | 67 | 67 | 63 | 60 | 4.11 | 25 | | Yaroslav Parashchak | 70 | 68 | 75 | 58 | 70 | 70 | 71 | 58 | 60 | 72 | 73 | 67 | 58 | 4.38 | 24 | | Ben Healy | 67 | 71 | 72 | 69 | 74 | 70 | 67 | 51 | 60 | 66 | 72 | 65 | 64 | 4.9 | 24 | | Alex Malacarne | 68 | 56 | 67 | 59 | 69 | 67 | 60 | 69 | 69 | 65 | 70 | 60 | 60 | 1.0 | 22 | | Finn Fisher-Black | 64 | 63 | 64 | 64 | 66 | 71 | 63 | 60 | 60 | 71 | 69 | 67 | 74 | 2.99 | 23 | | Hatem Ben Ameur | 69 | 62 | 65 | 67 | 70 | 69 | 64 | 63 | 64 | 64 | 67 | 60 | 63 | 1.0 | 22 |
We got rid of two 32 year olds and signed one in their place, so in general I guess the team has been getting a bit younger? The 32 year old that 'replaced' the other two is GC rider Ryan Eastman. He had a great season in PCT for Glanbia, including winning the grand Tour of America, and we hope to see him perform for us as well in our survival bid. Fellow American time trialist Daniel Eaton also joined us from the Irish team.
Kristoffer Halvorsen is our Manninen replacement. We do expect less point from Halvorsen, but on the other hand, he is still young, so he'd also be of use in PCT next year (and the years after). As the second sprinter we were then able to sign Costa Rican Gabriel Marin, who could also still perform this role for three more seasons in his prime. Whereas the older Sterbini went to CT, Erdenebat moved the other way around, as the Mongolian time trial champion is an amazing replacement for the Italian in our time trial-heavy team. Panagiotis Vlatos is also hopefully an addition to that part of our squad.
Three loan ins then, all of them mostly uphill domestiques. Didier Merchan from SEE Turtles is a pure climber and can hopefully help the likes of Aular and Eastman in that department where necessary, whereas Popo4Ever's Yaroslav Parashchak should be one of Higuita's helpers this season. Glanbia's Ben Healy is a bit more versatile and will help out several of our leaders throughout the season.
We also signed and loaned out three talents ourself. Alex Malacarne was a signing that made Brazilian clothing sponsor Kirschner very happy, and he'll learn a lot at Specialized in PCT this season. Finn Fisher-Black could be the future prologue master of the MG universe and will get his experience in CT at SEE Turtles this season, whereas Hatem Ben Ameur could still see his development go different ways, and will enjoy life in PCT at Bralirwa - Cegeka this season.

Looks like a good transfer season for you, shifting to some younger riders like Halvorsen and Erdenebat. Don't know the PT schedule by heart, but I guess Eastman should have more chances to score big than Zepuntke in the cobble classics.
I thought a long time about signing Malacarne. It was too late when I found the opportunity But it also makes a lot of sense to see him here.
Good luck in PT!
