Absolutely Aker vibes, I love it!
Very well done securing Sureda and Silva. Not so sure about Silva, after having experience with him myself from an earlier season, but Sureda definitely proved himself last season, so why no luck for Silva too? |

There are worse teams to get comparisons but Top 5 is the sponsor goal
Silva surely is not a magnificant signing of any kind but he is another lottery ticket for stages where we have nothing which i always liked when i had that with Liepins/Dakteris/Mansilla/... in the past. His combo surely is worth a roster spot at the very least and between the two i should cover a lot of the sprint stages this year.

Think you've had success with the multiple sprinters in the past and think it's a solid tactic, hope it works out for you in all of their non-Manninen races this year

Yeah, I've had. But mostly as a complementary option to Van Stayen as a big lead sprinter.

Two very nice early pickups before the chaos of the FAs really unfolded.

We were lucky to pick them up in the first hour of transfer

Loan Signing #1: Nils Eekhoff
Nils Eekhoff (26) FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | 75 | 60 | 68 | 75 | 76 | 77 | 67 | 74 | 70 | 71 | 67 | 64 | 76 |
With a strong roster core in place, we decided to heavily focus on acquiring loan riders who really help us this season. With a possible departure of Lars Van der Haar still looming to this hour, replacing him with a reliable cobbles specialist was a crucial role we needed to fill. As such we are excited that one of the first confirmed arrivals is Nils Eekhoff. Nils is not only a strong cobbler but also a very versatile rider who can do a bit of almost everything. Grieg-Maersk will pay the entirety of his 50,000 euro contract in exchange for a 175,000 euro loan fee.

Loan Signing #2: Filippo Baroncini
Filippo Baroncini (24) FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | XP | 73 | 65 | 74 | 72 | 73 | 76 | 71 | 63 | 67 | 72 | 74 | 70 | 70 | 4.36 |
Once again the channels between Evonik - ELKO and Specialized
were very busy and once again we agreed on a loan deal: Talented Italian puncheur Filippo Baroncini joins us for a year. He was on our top2 target list for young loan candidates and we are very excited to see him racing in yellow. Specialized pays the entirety of his 50,000 euro contract in exchange for a 100,000 euro loan fee.
Filippo is a puncheur who prefers the routes with fewer and shorter hills as he prefers flat roads over the high mountains. He also has a pretty solid punch which should help him if he gets opportunities to join breakaways. However, his main job this year is the bottle duty for Miguel Angel Lopez.

So you actually got your rather quiet transfers and still got some nice signings out of it. With your core still there at least top 5 should be realistic

This was always going to be quiet so i had to get creative to get some nice additions coming in. Think i did a decent job with finding a couple of them.

Loan Signing #3: Juraj Bellan
Juraj Bellan (28) FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | 70 | 75 | 69 | 73 | 77 | 75 | 78 | 56 | 62 | 63 | 71 | 65 | 73 |
If you want to win the biggest race in the world again, you have to have good support. As such we are happy that we could add further power to our climbing roster. Juraj Bellan joins us on loan from Moser - Sygic who will pay his wage in return of a nice 169 000 euro compensation. Juraj is especially great on the long and hard mountains and is an absolute diesel of a rider with impressive resilience. Expect him to take long turns at the front of the peleton day after day.

Evonik doing the now typical cap/budget gymnastics and bringing in some good support riders to help the established leaders. Eekhoff is a cool rider

Great pickups in FA. I had my eyes on both of them, but pursued other targets first

I keep doing these sort of moves, don't I?
And i fully agree on Eekhoff - my cobblers shortlist was two names long this year and i'm excited we got one of them
Laurens - Glad you priorized other targets instead. Had both on my radar for a couple of years and am glad that i finally got them (and at very reasonable wages)

Transfer Signing #1: Patrick Konrad
Patrick Konrad (33) FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | 71 | 74 | 75 | 70 | 74 | 71 | 70 | 52 | 61 | 67 | 68 | 57 | 70 |
Our first (and in all likelyhood only) transfer signing from another team is Patrick Konrad. The slightly unexpected departure of Hannes Bergstrom Frisk left us one man short in the climbing departure where we think that this signing will be a reliable contributor. The long-time Gazelle rider is an experienced veteran who joins us via transfer from Genii Hyundai N Cycling for a fee of 100,000 euro.
Patrick Konrad has strengths in the hills and can contribute in the big mountains. As such he will be an important domestique for both Pierre-Henri Lecuisinier and Miguel Angel Lopez.

The Master of Marginal gains is at it again. Already a sublime PT setup from the renewals. With these small adjustments, is it finally time to go get that crown? ;-)

I'm feeling overshadowed by everyone else presenting their new shiny toys and i can only show my "marginal gains" min fee signings and loanees. But I'm glad when you think I'm improving after all - means what I'm doing might not be entirely stupid.

I guess this "marginal gains" strategy just means you didn't have to make money via sales and lose 20% of taxes, so you can use all of it for training And I fear that those gains might not be *that* marginal
But it's not as if you team wasn't strong enough already, you really have an awesome squad. I guess PHL and Lopez already scored pretty well last year (the latter maybe having more room for improvement), Polanc had a stunning season - so if you want to take that final step to winning PT, I'd mostly expect some tough training sessions for Foss this year. Plapp also is a fantastic rider already - don't see many other teams that could keep up with you. Should be another fun season for you
