Awesome to see the team get a 10/10 in the biggest race of the year as you fulfilled all you pre-race expectations. Pogacar can only get better from here, so it must be a great feeling!
Yes, it's always very nice to accomplish a sponsor goal and even if the sprints didn't go our way, we found other ways to get more than enough scoring from the race
I think Pogacar would do well to just repeat his scoring output next season, because we definitely relied on his U25 eligibility which we won't have next year.

Gorazd Stangelj:
We will try to be as competitive as possible, but we're not set up the same as the last few years that we have come to this race. Between Gaudu, Bouchard, Buitrago and Svab we have a number of riders that can make an impact, but we'll need to be present in the crucial parts of the race.

Race Highlights
Cedevita win the team classification upon their return home
Martin Hvastija
Apart from some of our riders losing time on stage 1, everything else went according to plan. We had a good performance in the team time-trial to put us in a good position for the most important stages. Everyone then did their best, helping Tao and riding their own race. In the end Tao finished 5th overall, but we had four more riders in the top 25. This was a fantastic way to make a return to our home race!

There was a month without a ranking update and we had a lot of important races during these last two months. 45 race days is quite a few to recap, so let's begin in June with the Tour de Suisse. Tao Geoghegan Hart was the designated race leader and he came to the race in excellent form. He expertly handled the high mountains to finish 5th in GC. Added strong performances from Daniel Habtemichael and Milos Borisavljevic contributed to depth scoring and winning the team classification, the latter becoming a bit of a trend. Moving on there was another group of stage racers at the Criterium du Dauphine, led by Tadej Pogacar. But taking the spotlight first was Dusan Rajovic who sprinted to his 2nd stage victory of the season. After that it was Tadej's race as he mirrored Tao in finishing 5th overall and winning the U25 classification. To end the month both leaders combined at the Scandinavia Open Road Race. Here Tadej played 2nd fiddle to Tao with some aggressive riding on the final stage. That really worked with Tao finishing 4th and Tadej in 10th, but Craddock, Habtemichael and Borisavljevic also scored significant amounts.
July was always going to be overshadowed by one race, the Tour de France. We sent our stronger domestique riders to support Pogacar with Rajovic having a free role to try his luck in the sprint stages. The latter proved too difficult, but the real difficult uphill stages gave us success. Apart from Pogacar we also had the likes of Bouchard, Habtemichael and Gaudu contribute stage results. Consistent performances in the high mountains yielded a terrific 6th place finish for Pogacar, while Habtemichael in 16th and Borisavljevic in 22nd provided great depth and the team classification victory. Pogacar also celebrated his final U25 win. By combining the Suisse and Dauphine squads we were able to combine the results from those races to a good degree.
The other two races that month were the Philadelphia International Championship and the Tour of Slovenia. We had our main sprinter Enger in the US, but as often this we couldn't compete for the higher places in these sorts of races, 16th place was not the worst though. Then we went back home for the first time in a long time, to compete in the time-trial heavy Tour of Slovenia. Well set up for the race now, we had Geoghegan Hart as our leader and he was able to deliver a top result again with 5th place overall. Our strong TT depth was also present, winning a 3rd teams classification of the season. All in this short time period.
The two month period means a much larger scoring output, but even so we managed an astounding 2020 points. That put us in 2nd place for the period which is almost a 180 turn around from being 3rd worst last time. We have dispelled any lingering worries about relegation and are in a good position to achieve our final sponsor goal of finishing top 10 in the rankings.

Race Highlights
Sondre Holst Enger won stage 1 en route to an unexpected GC result
Martin Hvastija:
This was a crazy race. Enger did fantastic to win the opening stage, then the massive gap which unexpectedly occured on stage 2 put him in a great GC position. A good performance against the clock followed, while our actual specialists struggled a bit. We couldn't get any more stage results, but all in all this race was way above expectations and went in a direction we hardly expected.

It's been quite a while since the last cobbled race and in my opinion this one is actually one of the hardest on the calendar. Ivan will try to hold on to the favourites for as long as possible or maybe get in an opportunistic move. Either way we will try to also get a rider in the early breakaway.

Stojnic managed to get into the early breakaway which was a good start to the race. Going into the final part of the race we still had 3 riders in the group of favourites. In the end David Gaudu was the last man for us and he had a solid ride to finish where he did. A good experience for the young riders.

Loved to see Stojnic in the break in San Sebastian, a nice throwback to his season at LPH
Congratulations on the last two decent results in San Sebastian and Herbiers, nothing spectacular but also no total disaster. Deutschland obviously an unexpected Enger show and very helpful points-wise, nice little Scandinavian podium there as you mentioned earlier.

It was a very hard race for us, too hard. Nothing really went our way and our young riders who aren't proficient riding over cobbles struggled a lot and didn't even finish the race. It's a good thing we aren't desperate for ranking points so we can just use this as a learning experience.

Great to see another 10/10 race in Germany, even though the rest of the month was only moderately successful.

Stojnic is almost a proven breakaway rider at this point and should hopefully continue that way as he further develops.

Luckily we don't need anything more than moderate at this point

Another ranking update this time for the month of August. We had quite a packed schedule for this period as well. The main scoring came from the time-trial races, but it didn't go exactly as we expected. The standout performer in the Tour of Deutschland ended up being Sondre Holst Enger and not because he won a sprint stage. He actually finished 2nd overall which is the team's best GC result throughout the season. Chrono des Herbiers went a bit more to plan as both Lammertink and Howson finished with top 10 results. The rest of the races were lower scoring with largely talent filled teams in Clasica San Sebastian, East Midlands Cicle Classic and Ras Tailteann.
Due to two high scoring TT races we finished with a 5th best output totalling 500 points. Moving up to 5th place in the rankings we should now be assured of completing our final sponsor goal.

We'll mainly be targeting the sprint stages here with Enger. Perhaps we get into some breakaways on the other stages, but for the most part this is a learning experience to see what this race is all about.

Gorazd Stangelj:
This is a very hard race. Plenty of cobbled sections and lots of climbing throughout. It's going to come down to how our riders legs are feeling on the day, but realistically we don't expect to figure anywhere near the top. This should be another good learning experience for us.

Martin Hvastija:
The sprints went about as well as we hoped for, Enger was always in contention and finished with two good podium results. Apart from that we didn't find any other ways to impact the race. No breakaways and no GC results. We'll need to find a different lineup for this race next season.
Race score: 6/10

Gorazd Stangelj:
We had two riders with good legs today. Poljanec did a good job supporting Siric as long as was needed. We decided to attack before the crucial cobbled hill, anticipating where the race would be decided. It turned out to be a costly move for Siric as he ran out of gas on that climb, limiting his losses to finish where he did.
