Sprinta's Paradise
16/03/2024 | Classic Loire Atlantique | CT2 | 16/03/2024 | Milano - San Remo | M | 17/03/2024 | Cholet Agglo Tour | CT2 | 20/03/2024 | Brugge - De Panne Classic | WT2 |
Ok, I admit we haven't seen a sprint in San Remo for a while now, but the other races are very sprinter friendly! But who cares about those right? We're all here for the first Monument of the year, where the big points are. Some managers will be very excited with their star rider here, while others are sad their stars are training in Tenerife while they really should be starting here.
But I digress. Monument! Minor WT race! Two smaller Frech classics! Get your startlists in by saturday morning 10:00 CET.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Wow, what a win by Bettiol Not "just" mastering a small group in a bunch sprint, but winning after a 30km solo - clearly not the kind of performance I expected from him today! And yeah, Christen definitely proves me wrong again in not picking him over Bissegger - 5th in Laigueglia, 2nd in Milano - Torino, what a spring campaign for a 19 year old!
Unfortunately, De Kleijn got sick and isn't riding in Belgium, so I guess the points I was hoping for just were swapped between the two races
Actually I mistakenly thought I was still chasing my first win - but all of a sudden I remembered that Vingegaard won a French classic for me two years ago... So, sorry to Alberto, you're not the team's first winner

Segaert saving me from a 0-pointer today. Impressive sprint by Merlier and nice solo from Bettiol.
The Cobblers scored 206 points today and rise up to 5th place overall!

I'm even counting 210, but it's a really good day in any case! I even missed Ackermann's 4th place wirh Hirschi and Philipsen getting 3rd in both races

Compared to Bettiol's win, the results in Nokere are more modest. As said before, quite a bummer that De Kleijn didn't start; he has often been challenging Merlier this year, and a podium would surely have been on the cards. 9th by Hofstetter (who unfortunately just seems to be Ackermann's leadout) and 13th by Askey is fine, though.
Congrats to the Cobblers indeed, great day of racing for them!

2nd and 6th in Nokere! We won't have to rely totally on MVDP to avoid embarrassment.

No Steimle in the game this year, meaning more valuable points go missing. Of course we invite his manager from last year to comment

I am just glad that we have the new rule where points go to the rider's previous team in case they didn't find a team in the current season.
Kung falling was a shame, poor Allegaert

Not much from us today, but I'll take Capiot's 10th place. Would've preferred not having the crash and taking less points, though ^^
For tomorrow, mainly hoping that De Kleijn can actually start; if so, he could do pretty well. Hofstetter could get some assist points if Ackermann does well, and Capiot is kind of a wildcard.

Again not getting 8 starters, and what's even worse, no one who could realisticaly get a good result in San Remo.
