As PCT usually is the division competing in the highest number of races, it happens that there are too many to fit them into one table (and still be easy to read, that is). This is the case in pretty much all months but January, so we have to find meaningful splits.
Unlike PT, PCT February updates won't be in chronological order, but seprated into two categories: Cobbles, and Stage Races + (with the "+" being Coppa Placci). Followed by a consolidated February ranking, and the overall standings.
Partial Monthly Ranking | Cobbles
With two cobbled HC races and two more C1 ones, February potentially is the best scoring month for PCT cobblers - although this may have changed with Franceville now being a stage race. We'll find out later in the year.
What we know by now is that Edward Theuns is in top shape, as he won the first cobbled classic of the year, Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. 140 points for him and Jura GIANTS. 2nd place and 98 points went to Fastned's Van Hooydonck, with Spengler taking 3rd place and 82 points for UBS (plus 5 from Bohli).
Viana do Castelo (C1) took place on the same day - a cobbled race where cobbles skills don't really matter. Tiesj Benoot combines both anyway, and this year he dominated the race as expected. 80 points for the win, plus 5 points by Kozhatayev make Sony the highest scoring team with 85 points. Despite finishing "only" 3rd, Pidcock led Xero to 2nd place, with Van Zyl adding 20 points as well - 66 points for the Kiwis. It's then 58 points for both Zwift and Lampre, the former taking most points with surprising runner-up Jorgenson, the latter banking on Meurisse (6th), Turgis (10th) and Riesebeek (13th).
The next race was another category lower, with only 3 teams making the trip to Gent - Wevelgem. Genii clearly came out on top, having Paprstka finishing 4th and Yechezkel 12th - 33 points in total. Jura picked up 13 with Tediashvili (9th) and Kosic (25th), and Van der Hoorn scored 2 points for Fastned.
GP Herning - another C2 race - had even just 2 PCT teams present. Bralirwa's Teggart got 5th place and 23 points, whereas UBS left with 12 points from Grand (13th) and Schäppi (15th).
Back to HC mode then in Le Samyn - and back to Theuns beast mode. The Belgian celebrated his 2nd home win in his 2nd race of the month, getting another 140 points - this time complemented by some Tediashvili points, making Jura leave with 145 points. Ringheim was a rather surprising runner-up, and with Shiki Kuroeda finishing 28th, Sony scored 103 points here. 3rd place went to Lampre with 86 points - the Italians didn't have a top result with Daniel sprinting to 6th, but Van Keirsbulck (14th) plus Rowe, Kumara and Riesebeek finishing 18th-20th added some good depth points.
After a long cobbles break, the specialists came back to Belgium at the end of the month, competing in C1 classic Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne. And finally, the division's best cobble-sprinter took the win, with Stallaert's Bralirwa picking up 82 points (2 from Teggart). Van Hooydonck was the only one to match the winner's pace, finishing 2nd and bringing Fastned 56 points - plus 3 by Van der Hoorn. Theuns didn't win for once, but finished 3rd, leaving with another 46 points in the bag for Jura.
That's quite a lot of Theuns there, and so it's not surprising that Jura top the Cobbles ranking. 388 points, thereof 326 by Theuns, plus Schmid doing well in Viana.
Rather surprisingly, we have Sony in 2nd place. Benoot winning Viana could be expected - but Ringheim has by far exceeded expectations, especially getting 2nd in Le Samyn was amazing. 296 points for the Indian outfit.
Bralirwa only follow in 3rd place, totalling 262 points. Close behind are Lampre with 250; the Italians mainly scored through great depth instead of brilliant individual results.
UBS, Fastned and Pollos are next - the former two close to 200 points, the latter 50 points further behind. DuckDuckGo are actually tied with LPH, although they only competed in 3 of these races.
Trans and Lierse are the final teams with 100+ or more, rounding off the Top 10 - which means that Summerhill's Tryg must be heavily disappointed, given that they only got 67 points out of this batch of races.
5 teams even get a bagel, and none of them has the excuse of not having raced.

Partial Monthly Ranking | Stage Races +
Like in PT, the first race of the month - and the longest and highest scoring one - was Volta a Portugal.
However, I first owe you a quick look back to Vuelta al Tachira, which ended after the January update was posted. Sauber were the only team present, and they scored 65 points. Mostly thanks to Campero's 7th place in the GC and the team standings win, but Hibatullah and Liphongyu finished inside the Top 20 as well.
But now, over to Portugal. The highest scoring team was... well, actually, we have two of them, being tied for the win! Bralirwa shouldn't be a surprising name, given Meintjes' strong race, netting him a GC podium (3rd) in addition to a stage win, a 3rd place and shared 2nd place in the points standings. 215 points for the Rwandans, thereof 187 by their South-African star rider.
And 215 points is also the score of... Fastned! A surprise, at least for me - but Cras showed a very, very strong race, finishing 5th in the GC, adding a 3rd place on the final stage. Add Vanhoucke's 15th place, a couple of good sprints by Vingerling, and some more depth points - and that's where you get!
It was also a pretty close race for 3rd, but with a 10 points margin (over Zalgiris), Los Pollos complete our podium with 163 points. Aular might have been a tad disappointed with 6th place in the GC, but Sütterlin with 4th and 2nd in the two TT stages - and Quispe with an early KoM run - added some nice points.
Race number 2 in this category was Volta a Catalunya, running in parallel to the PT triple-header - and not getting a ton of attention by PCT teams, being a C2 race.
But at least Genii surely followed this race closely - and probably were as surprised as everyone else by the big overperformance of Pavlic! Getting a head-start on day one from a breakaway win, he defied all the odds and stayed high up in the GC until the end, finishing 4th! And 2nd in the KoM standings, which he led for the first 4 stages. 72 points - or 12 PpRD - is a great reward for a C2 race!
The other two teams present scored more along the lines of typical PCT participants in C2 races - Lampre with Potocki (10th in GC) and Thwaites (2nd on stage 2) scored 27 points, which is two more than Sony with Hayter (5th on stage 1, 3rd in U25) and Leemreize (17th in GC, 2nd in U25).
Then there was the Tour of Ukraine - a race many PCT teams went into pretty hopefully, but all but two completely messed up their race (aka didn't get the game engine's favours).
Dunbar and Indosat were the main beneficiaries of that fact, scoring a nice 185 points thanks to a 3rd place GC finish (alongside a stage podium on day 3) by their Irish superstar. Two more Top 30 GC results by Setiawa and Rohendi added some handy 30 points on top of Dunbar's score.
The only other team that got some significant scoring back from Ukraine were Assa Abloy. Paillot once again surprised by his tenacity on the hills, going ahead to finish 7th in the GC. Some lower Top 100 results bring the team's score up to 101 points.
In 3rd place - way closer to the rest of the teams than to the Top 2 - are Spark, who made the trip to Ukraine with a win goal in mind, but only came back with 31 points. Most of them were scored by former podium rider Bobridge, with Yates finishing inside the Top 50 as well.
The final stage race of the month was the sprinter festival in Mexico, Circulo de Juárez. And while various teams - especially those with the top favourites - leave extremely frustrated, others obviously have some reasons to celebrate.
Most of all, home team Los Pollos. Manninen was consistent on the first four stages, still leaving some hopes for the others - only to crush their hopes on the final day. Stage win, GC win, points win - and a strong early KoM run by Quispe. 262 points by the Finn, 30 by Quispe, and some more by other teammates - a huge 298 points yield for LPH it is!
Aniolkowski led the race during 4 days after his stage 1 win, only to drop down to 3rd on the final day. Still, 204 points for him (209 for Popo4Ever) should be a greater than expected reward, strong race by the Pole!
Zabel finally ended up 2nd in the GC, thanks to great consistency throughout the race. It's 158 points for the German, 168 for Kraftwerk - which is just 3 more than Indosat, and 17 more than Glanbia. In total, 8 teams scored at least 100 points - Fastned with Groenewegen, Assa with Dainese and Sony with Vesely aren't among them...
Last but not least, let's talk about the "+" part - which is Coppa Placci. Three teams went to San Marino, all three returned with a handful points. Kraftwerk were the most successful team, with Destribois, Helme and Theorpanous all scoring - a total of 13 points. Schleck scored 7 for Spark, whereas home team Colombini had to settle for 2 Jele points.
The final stage race of the month had a big impact on the partial ranking, propelling Los Pollos straight to the top. They scored 461 points from Portugal and Juárez.
Next are Indosat, who did well both in Ukraine and Mexico, trailing LPH by 111 points (which is 350 points scored for them). The only other team above 300 points is Popo4Ever, who were brilliant in Mexico and decent in Portugal - 316 points.
Zalgiris are the first team on the list who did three out of the 4 stage races (missing out on Catalunya), scoring 272 points. Fastned at 215 round off the Top 5, and Bralirwa with their strong Portugal run are close behind with 215.
It's then 10 teams within just 58 points from each other, ranging from Assa in 7th place down to Zwift in 16th place. It's especially clustered around the 150 points mark, with 5 teams between 143 and 157.
Unlike in the cobbles block, the two "bagel teams" here do have the fully valid excuse of not having participated in any race of this block. Colombini as the lowest scoring team above 0 did, in Ukraine and Placci, but they'll be as unhappy about their scoring as UBS will be about being the lowest scoring team in Portugal.

Period Ranking: February
Thanks to Mighty Matti, Los Pollos top the February Ranking. 604 points in 21 race days, that's almost 30 PpRD, surely a pretty good value.
Jura are even slightly better in terms of PpRD; Theuns & friends racked up 522 points - a clear gap to the chicken, but still pretty good.
Of the Top 3, Bralirwa have the best balance between cobbles and stage races in February, scoring more than 200 points in either block. 477 points - but only 16 RD used, which brings them very, very close to 30 PpRD.
Fastned and Lampre round off the Top 5; the former mainly had a great Volta a Portugal and a huge stinker in Juárez, with van Hooydonck scoring good points in between. Lampre scored more points on the cobbles, thanks to Daniel and strong depth. Both teams exceed the 400 points mark - and are the final ones to do so.
Behind them however comes the most successful team of the month, looking purely at PpRD: Indosat only had 12 RDs, but picked up 360 points - which is 30 PpRD flat. And this despite scoring just 10 points on the cobbles - looks like TT-Eddie is about as much on fire as Cobbles-Eddie.
Sony and Popo4Ever are just 12 and 17 points behind Indosat, though - yes, they did race more, but it still was a good month, both scoring close to 350 points.
Rounding off the Top 10 are DuckDuckGo and Zalgiris - with the latter having 6 RDs less and zero cobbles points.
Also above 200 points - but 30 and more behind the Top 10 - are the two teams with the most number of RDs spent this month with Sauber (31 including Tachira) and Genii (28). Kraftwerk and UBS are above 200 points as well, with the former having raced just 11 days...
Assa and Zwift conclude the Top 15 - they're actually tied for 14th with 184 points.
At the bottom of the table, we have to conclude that McCormick had a very rough month. McNulty got shafted in Ukraine, as many others, and Walscheid did nothing in Juárez - only 42 points scored in 12 RDs results in an abysmal 3.5 PpRD value.
Not much better for Colombini, with 60 points in 9 RDs, or for Xero who got 66 points out of 6 RDs (which is an OK-ish PpRD, though). Trans did a pretty good job in the few races they had (109 points in 6 RDs), so being that low shouldn't worry them - but Spark who spent 20 race days for 146 points surely can't be happy with their outcome.
So we're missing Lierse, Glanbia and Tryg, all of which are separated by just 19 points - especially the former will be worried about this low outcome, having invested more than 20 days of racing this month.

Full Ranking
No surprise here - after a great month of racing, the #1 title favourites lead the standings. Los Pollos Hermanos already have 810 points secured, the highest PpRD of the division, and they look to be flying on any terrain. Looks like an easy walk back to PT - but yeah, a lot of racing is yet to be done.
Jura GIANTS in 2nd place could be viewed as a little surprise - but given that February might be the best month for PCT cobblers, it's actually not that surprising to see them high up. 693 points means they're already over 100 points behind LPH, though...
Another big promotion contender is in 3rd place, with Fastned who have 610 points. Despite the big Groenewegen bust in Mexico, they've moved up to a promotion spot - which definitely is where they want to be by the end of the year, too. However, 6 teams have a better PpRD so far... But points score are always better than points predicted, anyway.
In terms of predicted points, Bralirwa should be among the top promotion contenders; whereas they're currently in 4th place - about 50 points behind Fastned - their PpRD sees them in 3rd after some big Meintjes and Stallaert performances so far.
Rounding off the Top 5 are Popo4Ever, just 13 points behind Bralirwa. And Padun hasn't even started his (PCT) season yet... Instead, the sprinters are pretty hot, with both Lutsyshyn and Aniolkowski going strong.
Roughly 40 points behind the Top 5 are Lampre and Assa Abloy - the latter despite a Dainese failure in Mexico. On the other hand, Lampre have already raced a lot - but at the same time have their C2 RDs checked off already.
It's then a pretty big gap after the Top 7, with Sony following 80 points behind. Participating in Catalunya surely hurt their PpRD as well - but at least C2 is done for them.
On the other hand, Indosat, who are just 4 points behind, are the team with the least amount of RDs spent so far. 14 days, 429 points - a PpRD of 30.64 actually makes them by far the closest to LPH in terms of predicted points.
Kraftwerk are the final team in the Top 10, with Zalgiris in 11th the only other ones above 400 points (14 points behind the Germans). Behind, we have Tryg, UBS, DuckDuckGo and Genii separated by just 30 poitns (from 369 down to 339) as the final Top 15 teams. Genii have the division's highest RD value so far, with 39 days of racing (or a quarter of the season) already done.
Spark and McCormick are just above 300 points as well, with Sauber pretty close to them, too. But that's less than 50 points clear from the relegation zone for all of them.
The last team not currently relegating are Glanbia with 264 points - Lierse just one point behind currently look to be at risk, despite being among the promotion contenders in many predictions! Gamper not performing as well as he should have, plus a complete failure in Ukraine (recurring pattern for PCT teams) clearly hurt them - Bonfiazio's no-show in Juárez didn't help, either.
Colombini are rather close to safety as well - 10 points behind - but they haven't raced a lot yet and their PpRD should give them hope to eventually move up.
Whereas Zwift and Trans would be expected to be in the lower half of the table, their main focus races should be yet to come. And this holds even more for Xero, our current red lantern, with the lowest PpRD of the division. But it's hard to see them staying down there once Areruya is unleashed...
As is always the case in PCT, the rankings quickly get difficult to read given that the amount of RDs spent can be so different from one team to another. Genii have raced almost 3x as much as Indosat, so... But what counts in the end are points - not predicted ones, scored ones. And these points have been scored so far:
In the end, it was a close fight - a really, really close one - for first place. And it's Edward Theuns who keeps the upper hand, with 326 points scored this month (and in total).
A very close runner-up is Matti Manninen, who trails by just 3 points after his great performance in Mexico. Given the number of suited races for both rider types, the Finn should easily be ahead by the end of the year, though.
It's almost a 90 points gap down to 3rd place. And yes, Alberto Dainese should have been higher up after Juárez, he should be leading the standings now. But just like Manninen, he'll get a lot of other chances to shine.
#4 is Joeri Stallaert, only 6 points off the podium. The lack of HC wins sees him further down than in previous years, but it still is a very solid start for him.
Which can also be said of Stanislaw Aniolkowski and Mohamad Izzat Hilmi Abdul Halil, who both pretty clearly exceeded expectations in Mexico, and now have 204 and 200 points respectively.
Louis Meintjes as the division's highest scoring stage racer so far, and a 3rd cobbler in Nathan van Hooydonck, round off the Top 10. But it's very close just behind them - with some more mountainous, hilly and (T)TT-heavy races, expect quite some reshuffling next month!
Sometimes getting high enough points in C2 race could be vital in the rankings. They don't do much in the bigger picture, but these points could make the difference in the end. 15th in the overall ranking is fine for now. Thanks for the ranking report.
Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect start. Basically two races in and have like 1/5 of our points total from last season already. There’s such a long way to go, and things are not always going to be shiny and happy but can’t help but be happy about where we are at already. Abdul Halil has already exceeded expectations, and Dunbar has had a steady start to the season. March isn’t our strongest month, so I expect our PPRD to drop considerably by the next ranking update, but it’s still nice to have such a comfortable start to the season considering the last four or so starts have been terrible.
Awesome to see Los Pollos doing their thing, and dominating already! Manninen remains the PCM cheat code. It’s good to see Fastned still up there despite getting the shit end of the stick recently. Genii have started wee respite the pre-season predictions, and Xero are not having a good time (but I still think they’re going to be up there competing for promotion at the pointy end of the season).
You're the only one allowed to say that since you've raced less than us and have over 3x the points

Definitely a nice sight to see ourselves on top of the rankings for now, think this is the first time that ever happened
Zepuntke and Aular scored the points I hoped to see from them on the cobbles and in Portugal, and Sütterlin and Sterbini also contributed a bit with their time trialing. Incredible to see Quispe doing so well already with 49 points, already almost equalling his record of 56 points iirc. He is the KoM-fear of any 77-ish climber in the peloton
Manninen's season already quite nice with that Juarez result and point scoring, as I actually only just found out Juarez is HC this season instead of C1. Thanks for not making the same mistake as me, Fab, and congratulations on your second place so far!
In general a beautiful review of the month by Fab. I'd definitely understand if some reviews are simply shorter and more or purely points-oriented, but as long as you have the time and you like doing them like this, I'll enjoy reading them very much.
And also one final time of conmiserations for the people getting screwed by Juarez and/or Ukraine, Portugal etc. AI. May the odds be in your favour in the next races
We did very well in the cobbles, much better than expected at the top end for sure. Ringhleim has had a great start to the season, and Benoot was just perfect in Viana, with the support staff contributing their part. We didn't expect too much in Catalunya, but are still slightly disappointed that Leemreize was not in Top 10 contention, neither Shirota or Ahmad Zamri able to contribute much. The real downer was Juarez though, with only 20 something points, when we were expecting at least 80-100 or there abouts.
Still, overall, not much to complain about with Choi not having raced yet and Benoot just racing in one classic so far. Hopefully we can keep this up.
Thanks for the great update Fab! Love to see the chicken boys up there at the top
Was never going to be a great month for us given the cobbles we had to deal with. Ukraine the only race where we had hopes of scoring. That didn't work out well but hopefully they are the only 3 McNulty days that get wasted this season.
Boswell's season starts in March and how he does will be decisive in how we do.
Far from a great season from us, Daniel has been royally underperforming as is evident by Ringheim having more points than him, albeit on the back off a freak result. I guess the positives is that we are most likely not going to be in danger of relegation but top 10 goal might be a miss. Thanks for the update Fabi!
February always had to be a good month for us if we are to stay clear of relegation danger and in the Top 10 fight, so I'm not surprised to be pretty high up. However, Theuns just rocked those HC cobbles, which I clearly didn't expect - having one of my riders on top of the individual ranking is another milestone!
Clearly, we were one of the lucky teams this month; Theuns winning twice against Stallaert et al. was unexpected, and Bol getting a Top 10 in Juárez was awesome as well. We got completely screwed in Ukraine, but I guess Theuns & Bol made up for that.
What worries me far more is that those hilly-TT stage races are our main focus, and if we get screwed the same everywhere else (Denmark, Norway, Britain, ...), it could still be difficult to secure a Top 10 - moreover, we won't be competitive in PTHC races I'm afraid.
But for now, we'll enjoy the moment, and hope to add some more good points in no less than 3 TTT-loaded races in March (IoM, Pais Vasco, ToSA).
Congrats to Pollos on a great month, looks like you can just score everywhere (as expected). I'd be surprised if we had another leader in any future ranking update this year, your riders are exactly doing what they should
Good to see Fastned still on a promotion spot, despite Groene's stinker in Mexico. Hopefully he'll redeem himself later in the year.
Also, seeing Bralirwa high up in the early season updates is a recurring pattern - and this despite Stallaert getting just 1 win so far. Mentjes was great in Portugal - and even though I didn't expect you to promote this year, it looks like you've got quite some decent scorers on board now
On the other hand, pretty disappointed to see UBS so far down. Spengler had one strong race so far, hoping for more. Also hoping Buchmann can turn things around for you!
And gutted to see Lierse be the AI's biggest victim so far, with Oomen ignored in Ukraine, Bonifazio not being very useful in Mexico, and also Portugal a bit below expectations - plus Gamper who isn't really flying this year. Hoping you can turn things around as well!
Individual standings, obviously surprised to see Theuns on top, but also Manninen in 2nd. Dainese should've been there, but alas. Ringheim the most surprising name in the Top 11 for me, clearly understand WJs frustration as that could/should've been Daniel's score... We'll see, 8 months to go, still plenty of time.
Not a good month for us. Still we are out of the relegation zone and that’s good for us! We need to improve and make our race days count rather then just filling the numbers at races
If my team don't score a lot of points this month then I know what will wait on us.
But I still have my finger crossed and hope on the best ending overall after last race in this season.
Thanks for the update/kind words. Bonifazio and Gamper having a slightly below expectations season isn't a disaster, but Oomen and Novak not fighting for GC's was something I had not seen coming.
Great to see some of my favourite teams in the promotion fight right now, I wish I was there with them though.
