Great result in Copenhagen, good to see that the favourite teams really delivered Smile

Pogacar in Tirreno definitely makes sense, with Paris - Nice having more TTs and less mountains - Top 10 should definitely be on the cards if he's got decent legs. And maybe Enger has a shot at taking yellow on S2, as he should do pretty well in the prologue and then should be able to survive the late bumps on the second day.

Good luck!

I was a bit relieved to see us finish 2nd on same time when I had the 2nd strongest team. A bit too close for comfort Pfft
I think Tirreno is going to be a very hard race for Pogacar and I might need Enger at his best to make it a good race.

Imladrik wrote:
Two nice teams for these two races! Excited about Hart in Paris-Nice, particularly.

Good luck on them.

I really hope for some good luck with Hart as he got burned badly in Tasmania.

Hopefully Tadej and Tao can deliver!

You and me both Pfft

cunego59 wrote:
See you in France! I don't really see where Tao would lose time on that course, so a strong result could be in the cards. Would love to see that!

I tend to agree, but the race still needs to be selective enough. I do have Lammertink if it turns into another Tasmania race, but I feel somewhat uneasy if that were to happen again. See you there!

Fabianski wrote:
Agree with cunego, Paris - Nice looks pretty much tailor-made for strong uphill riders with a good TT skill. Stage 3 should be the only road stage where some notable time gaps might occur, and Tao should made the front group there. Hilly stages in general haven't been decisive this year, so his lack of punch (compared to others) shouldn't hurt him. We'll still try to test him, although our riders should be no match Wink

I need the right balance. I feel like he should be fine on hills AI wise. He was 12th on the Tasmania hilly stage while the better puncheur Pogacar was only 96th. I also gotta hope we can score many depth points with the likes of Craddock, Borisavljevic etc. because I really need it to offset the scoring I won't have in other races.

Fabianski wrote:
Grand-Duché shows the sad truth that Beltran's time on your team is over - and there's no replacement for him yet. Gaudu has a good history of overperforming, though, will be interesting to see what he can get there Smile

I think Gaudu has the capacity to do reasonably well, but it depends how the AI treats him. If he simply gets ignored or is a breakaway rider then I'm afraid I'll not get much from the hilly classics.

Even though this is our mandatory sponsor goal for which we know we don't have a good chance, we still need to perform well as it's a race where we need a lot of points from. Tao comes in as our pre-race leader, but in a race where 2/3 stages are time-trials the road can decide leadership status.

The win goal indeed looks to be unlikely to achieve, especially if the likes of Phinney or Wirtgen are there (as expected), but Tao should still do well. The uphill ITT might be the big unknown, as it will the first of its type with the new engine, but the hilly stages so far haven't yielded huge gaps (and rather big groups), so if he gets his positioning right a Top 5 should be on the cards. Fingers crossed Smile

I'd obviously prefer getting a good result here myself, but your riders are simply better than mine Wink

Martin Hvastija:

Milano San-Remo is a unique race on the calendar with its long length and the short hills at the end while still being rated as a flat race. As such we'll be primarily supporting Enger as our race leader, but our goal is to get as many riders over the Poggio as we can which would give us a better chance to score more points.

Sondre Holst Enger celebrates back-to-back stage victories

Marko Polanc:

This race was a huge success from start to finish. Enger was brilliant in delivering the team's first win of the season, only to double the tally a day later. Those wins meant he also got to wear the race and points leader's jerseys. On the GC front Tadej got into the U25 lead after the prologue and never let it go. He was able to finish in the top 10 in all the decisive stages to finish 7th overall. Everyone did an excellent job supporting the two team leaders.

Martin Hvastija:

We definitely delivered on our pre race goals. Dusan winning in his appearance of the season was better than we expected. It's great to have him back in the fold. Steven continued his solid time-trial form, meanwhile Tao kept himself safely at the front for the entire race to finish on the final podium. If there is one lament from this race is that we weren't able to put more riders in high GC positions. Still we managed to comfortably complete our first sponsor goal.

Marko Polanc:

We were rock solid in this race from start to finish. Two strong time-trials sandwiched between good, attentive positioning on the hilly stage finally gave us a strong team performance. It was a tough field of competition and Tao did his best to finish 6th overall. We couldn't complete our sponsor goal, but we go away from the race very satisfied with how we did.

I think this could be one of those races where we are mainly looking at breakaways. We don't have a rider who's abilities on the hills and in sprints match what this race requires.

You've been flying pretty high all year long, and Ukraine was a continuation of that. Pretty jealous looking at your results there, but I guess many PCT managers are Wink

Your sprinters have been doing a fantastic job so far, especially Enger is insanely strong this year. Too bad none of them had enough RDs to go to Netherlands. We'll see if your betting on breakaways works out; at least Gaudu should get a decent GC result anyway (if the sprinters can be gapped on the final day).

Things have been going well, with this period always being one where we had to score a lot to stand a chance of staying in PT.

The sprinters have both been outstanding. I've never had three sprint stage wins before and they somehow all came in just two days Pfft
Punting on Nederland was a planning decision on my part to open up other races for Enger. I expect the competition will be fierce so I opted out on bringing Rajovic as well. I'm hoping we have the freedom to do some things in the breakaway.

Martin Hvastija:

We protected Enger throughout most of the day, but in the end we let him look after himself. Suffice to say he was in great position on the Cipressa and the Poggio, as well as the final sprint on Via Roma. So close to a monument podium, but still a brilliant way to show ourselves on the big stage.

This is the most important race for us in the month of March. We won't be able to compete much during this cobble heavy month of the season, but this race is for the time-trial specialists which is our forte. Dusan Rajovic is with us to try his luck in the sprints similar to Paris-Nice, but our main focus is on getting the most out of the time-trials.

A bit late, but still congrats to another great Enger sprint, 4th in MSR is a fantastic result!

With quite a lot of randomness removed from the TTs, Praha should also give you a very solid result; chances should be good that at least one of your 80 TTers gets a Top 10, and some good depth should be on the cards as well. And with the wave your sprinters are currently surfing, I wouldn't even be surprised to see Rajovic get two stage wins Wink

Yeah, I didn't think Enger would be my best rider in the early part of the season.

To be honest I want both Lammertink and Howson in the top 10. The depth should still be more luck based with a lot of riders in that 76-78 range.

After a very average start in January it was imperative that we made the most out of the February races. We started in Copenhagen where we were slated as 2nd favourites and were able to place according to projections. A good start for the time-trial unit. We then came to the famous PT triple clash. Sondre Holst Enger surprised with back to back stage wins in Tirreno-Adriatico, while Tadej Pogacar dominated the U25 classification to finish 7th overall. In the other stage race Paris-Nice, Tao Geoghegan Hart stepped on the final podium spot and Dusan Rajovic marked his return with the team's 3rd stage victory of the season.

Closing out the triple clash in Luxembourg, David Gaudu was able to finish in the top 20 at the Classique du Grand-Duche. We were able to carry the good form into the last two races of the month. Geoghegan Hart finished 6th overall in Ukraine with riders like Craddock and Lammertink adding some needed depth scoring. On the other side Enger sprinted to 4th place at the first monument of the year at Milano-Sanremo.

We were able to capitalise on a month where there were many races suited to our best riders, but we also got very good results from our two sprinters. Additionally we also completed the sponsor goal we had in Paris-Nice, while knowing full well that winning in Ukraine was not feasible. Hopefully we have given ourselves a good base for the rest of the season in our battle to stay in the ProTour division.
