It's is no secret that this transfer window has been challenging for us on multiple levels, but finally we have a solid rider to join us ahead of the next season, and he's a familiar face. We were the last team to give Medvedev a contract after having let him go after our last relegation in 2020. Now we finally have the space to bring him back to us and we look forward to developing his engine even further.

@Nemo: Not the luckiest transfer window for us, but I feel satisified with where our team ended up at with the final pick ups we made post Medvedev returning to ride for the team!
@TMM: Hoping for many more!
@knockout: Absolutely, and thinking back I probably should have kept him when I went down when I assembled my CT record team, but now it's time to make up for past mistakes and create a flat beast that can go for late attacks and control the pack when needed to!

Indeed it's a shame Medvedev lost some development time, but it's good to see he has a chance to do that now. I hope he rides hard for you.

After a tumoltous start to the transfer window with every single bid falling through, we finally managed to sign a few riders that can add to our leadership core. Let's go through them:

Anthony is a rider that we were looking at already before the window started, and we were dissapointed that his availability wasn't 100%, but our patience paid off as we managed to secure the French Puncheur beast for a fee of 650k. A fee that took up a solid chunk of our initial budget for the season but a fee we knew was worth it. The Frenchman was a revelation the last time he was in the PCT scoring 728 points in Farfetch's title winning season in 2020. While we'd like for him to finish 20th in the individual standings again, we understand that it wont be possible although we hope that Turgis will still be a potent scorer at this level. At the age of 29 he also gives us a few years before we have to replace him, something that will be sorely needed, looking at the age profile of the rest of our leaders.

Monsalve joins us as a part of a double deal with our friends over at Assa Abloy that also saw us bringing in Lionel Coutinho. The 34 year old Venezuelean climber gives us a bit more prowess in stage races and with the support of Elissonde and Potocki I believe that he could still have a strong year despite being on his second decline. The fee paid is just below a million, which also gives a helping hand to Assa Abloy and we still believe it is a good deal.

The Portuguese rider had a strong season last year, but with Dainese maxing he became surplus to requirements at Assa Abloy. With the departures of Kennaugh and Vingerling we needed new blood in the sprints for stage races with our classics core already being in place. Coutinho excelled in this role last year and even if he doesnt replicate his 400 points we'd still be very happy with half of that.
Full presentation will come at a later date but now we have presented all the permanent additions to our team.

Turgis is absolutely a bargain for 650k in PCT 
Monsalve and Coutinho are also very decent additions. Looks like you're ready to take the next step, a promotion challenge perhaps?

I think we're very far away from mounting a promotion challenge, but would be very happy with finishing in the top 10 overall standings and then taking it from there. Obviously would love a promotion so I have some room to organise the rebuild that I need next year regardless of which division I am in!

With a scrappy budget going into transfers we had to raise funds from elsewhere. This was primarily done through loans. We have three riders on loan in Antonelli that joins from Sauber, Camrda who joins from Lidl and finally the biggest sprinter talent in the world Kooij. The Dutchie joins a long line of top sprinting prospects that have been through our ranks on loans: Barnabas Peak, Jasper Phillipsen and Mads Pedersen.
Our only Italian addition this season is Edoardo Sandri who joins us as a stagaire but chances are that he will get a full contract next season and turn into a solid pack controller in the future. Paul Penhoët joins in a snatch away from Ekoi, but most likely won't get a full contract at this moment in time.

Would have loved a few more Italian riders but a few teams went a lot harder for Italians than I thought they would and I couldnt justify putting 200k into a rider like Ciccone when I have Potocki on 75k etc.  And as always I have always prioritised quality over nationality so we end up with a pretty diverse team in that regard.
Also San Marino, Velenzuela and Portugal are new nationalities in the WJSM history as well I think

I think Monsalve should still have a good year in him, although his skills have obviously suffered a bit from ageing. But together with Elissonde, I'm sure this will be a fun duo to watch - with some good support from Potocki I guess.
Turgis + Meurisse is a very intriguing puncheur duo - not among the division's top "pure puncheurs", but both have a great kick and a decent sprint, and both have some amazing results to their name already. I guess it will take some clever planning to maximize their scoring, but I'm sure you've got a plan
The TT column has an ugly void, which the other departments will have to somehow compensate for. I'm sure that Daniel will make good use of his final maxed season to do so, expecting some cool sprint duels with Theuns. Hopefully with the better end for the latter, though But with GvK, Daniel definitely has some great support!
Sprinters are hit or miss as always, but with Coutinho you've got a good option for the all-flat races, whereas Rowe and Dzama will continue to annoy some of the faster sprinters in the classics
I fear (automatic) promotion might not be on the table this year, especially with your complete lack of TTs in a pretty TT-heavy PCT calendar (including HC), but a Top 10 could be achievable
Given the age structure of your roster, I hope you'll do well in achieving goals, as it looks like a major rebuild could be pending soon...

I always was a fan of the Lampre colors, so it's cool to have them present in the MG peloton now. Maxime Daniel was my first big training so I'm looking forward to see what he can do in his last season on max level! |

TTs have never been a big focal point for us and that will not change in the near future. Putting together a TTT squad often means sacrifices in other areas, and we're building towars having something in that area slowly but surely with Milan and Baroncini.

Our goals were laid out in a way where they would be achieveable no matter the outcome of transfers because we knew that a rebuild is in making next year no matter what. I agree with most of your takes on my team and I do hope that the double setup with Meurisse and Turgis can work to our advantage, because then we will have that terrain locked down for next year when a rebuild is imminent!

I don't fear relegation but depending on how the engine treats a few specific riders I think that there is an option that everything that can go wrong, goes wrong like we saw with Netia a few years ago. I am not getting my hopes up for promotion at all maybe if we get lucky we can snatch a disband promotion spot as it would make our rebuild a lot easier next year.

They are some lovely colours indeed! Maxime Daniel for sure has a lot of weight to carry on his shoulders this year and I think that there is an option for him to produce around 600 points if everything goes to plan!

I think you landed a very solid place. Turgis is seriously underrated I think. You'll be very happy with him - especially when also getting to keep Meurisse. They can be a great combo.
The Monsalve, Ellisonde and Potocki combo surely asks for aggressive riding aswell.
Solid cobbles and OK sprinting also. You'll be fine. No worries
