Bennett seemed really strong today so it's a shame those attacks didn't come earlier to give him time to go further over the top of Choi and Faglum Karlsson and try to crack Pluchkin. As it stands really unsure if he'll even have a podium spot nevermind holding onto yellow with less than two minutes to Pluchkin. Will need to be the time trial of his life.
Spoiler Also the GC is far far more important and our domestiques are clearly shattered but a bit of a shame the break took the stage otherwise would have been awesome day for points and KOM classifications

Looks like we used up all our GC luck for the season in Maroc
That's the win gone and possibly even 2nd looking unlikely now. If Choi does a TT like the MTT, then even the podium will not happen. Exerted himself on two stages and seems to have run out of steam after that. Eenkhoorn also falling further in the U25s, behind far weaker riders. Neither is he staying with Choi till the end, nor is he able to protect his own position, weird!
Congrats to red and thanks for the report Fab

Waited until the very last opportunity to finally execute the multi rider breakaway like it's supposed to be done. Eriksson did the grunt work like he should and it allowed Bouchard to be fresher than others on the final climb. Lesson learned from that previous stage where they cocked up the 2v1.
The TT is a non-event for us, so it falls to Zariff to finally pull off a competent sprint on the final stage. I won't hold my breath
Thanks for the reports

While its encouraging to see Ranaweera attacking its not his best strategy. He finished the worst out of the 4 attackers. I hope he can find his TT legs tomorrow, any movement in GC seems unlikely but it would be nice to hang on to 3rd in Teams.
Congrats to red, nice to see Cedevita getting a stage win after Moazemi mugged them earlier in the race.
Thanks for another great read Fab!

Quietly Alex Hoehn has had a memorable race. His break activity hasn't yielded many stage results but 15thish on GC and 2nd on U25 are great results for him. Also key to 2nd in the team's comp. We are going to end the race without a single notable result but enough nice results to make the race ok.
I think Bennet has this. The finishing climb on S20 is tough and so climbing and recovery will play as big a role as TT. Don't see him losing 2 minutes.
Last two stages are Elias' incredible San Francisco Zcts so looking forward to Fab showing them off.

Looks like our Stage winning record is in serious jeopardy. We've no hope in the TT so all over to Bennett for the last stage ....the omens aren't good.
Our only real target is that Mannion stays in the top 20 while Brandt is capable of getting back into the top 25

7th!!! Best CT rider in the GC. WOW!!! Vasyliv needed a big race and showed that! A crazy race though! I think 7th is our best GC place in the Tour of America in our history. Obviously this is not considering any major incidents in the final stage. Great race and hopefully the points in this race and in other races are enough to move us up the CT rankings.
Congrats George and Xero! ANd Kraftwerk for the stage win!

Wow. Before the stage I'd mentally prepared to be fighting for the podium spot with Faglum Karlsson, then at the second check I had all the hope in the world and none at all with just the climb to go. Great work by GB on the final slopes to hang on. Will do all my reflecting after the final stage but a very very special moment in team history.
Congrats to the Kings of America Kraftwerk for finding yet another way to get wins in this race, great ride from Ranaweera Great stuff from Choi as well, what a nailbiter there for 2nd and 3rd!

Mighty ol' Bennett! Great stuff, congrats, jandal!
Pretty impressive TT by our team. Canty as somehow expected, but still a nice little stage result. Power and particularly Hamilton doing surprisingly well though. Definitely didn't expect Hamilton to defend his 10th place. While losing a KoM shirt always kinda hurts, the team's classification and ofc the GC position from Hamilton surely help to overcome that hurting
No to avoid any stupid stuff in the final stage and here we go. Thanks for another epic report!

Not gonna lie I was rooting for Choi to bring it all back and win the race on the final TT, irl style
But it makes sense that Bennett held his own on the final climb, congrats to Jandal
Pavlic grabs a couple unexpected points today with 7th place. Thanks for the entertaining report Fabianski

Great ride from Choi, have to admit! Wasn't expecting it after two poor stages. In the end, if he didn't have a bad day in just one of stage 17 or 19, the result would've been different (or if the final sector was also flat ). Bennett did enough in the last week prior to this stage to overcome whatever disadvantage he has against the clock. Was definitely not expecting Choi to turn it around on Pluchkin though.
Congrats to Kraftwerk on yet another stage win and thanks for the report Fab

Nice stage from Brandt but pity to see Mannion slip out of the top 20
One day left to save our record...

Great MTT from both Carapaz and Manfredi. We're happy with 6th place in GC for Carapaz
Eislers is doing great all Tour long. Grabbing the green jersey would be the icing on the cake, come on mate!
Thanks Fabi for the fabulous reports!

Loving what Bouchard and Bennett did over the last two days, fantastic performances! Awesome that GB is on track to win it all, and loving that Choi pushed up to 2nd.

Wow, didn't expect Ranaweera to ace the final TT and give Kraftwerk our 4th stage win. Not enough to better his 5th place GC but very encouraging for future outings. Thanks for the thanks.
Exciting finish fantastically reported, Bennett using all his advantage to squeeze home with a few seconds to spare, congrats to jandal.
Love the tour round San Francisco, thanks to Fab for top class reporting and to UU for a great route.
Fingers crossed for Haller to match the stage win record in the final stage.

Congrats to all who did well - first of all to Xero for taking the GC with Bennett, but also to Philips on a huge race including 3 stage wins, 2nd place overall and lots of days in green!
Hats off as well to Pluchkin for getting so close to winning this GT as well - his 25" deficit would also have been enough to finish 2nd in all but two of the previous editions.
Congrats to Kraftwerk for rocking the Tour once again, being the team with most wins despite an incredibly disappointing Haller. It was really awful to see him just not caring time and time again - either he always fell into that famous 4th sprinter trap, or was ruled out by PCM because of Moazemi's GC lead.
I was also bummed to watch that final sprint with only 1/3 green jersey contenders actually participating, but alas. Congrats to Assa Abloy, Coutinho is definitely a worthy winner regardless!
And big congrats also to Tryg. I never expected Zimmermann to actually get that Top 10 spot, and I even less expected Hoelgaard to be as competitive as he was in the high mountains. You sent a strong lineup, and for once everything fell into place for you.
Thanks to all compliments on the reports, and sorry for being lengthy again - it clearly wasn't my goal, but I wanted to do the race (and course) justice. This probably was the last GT I reported, and despite the huge amount of time it took it was really fun - especially the closest GC race (for the podium) in ToA ever

I know my commenting dried up, just as my teams attacking nature did for the most part. But i still read every report and loved it. Best reported GT of the year!

7th overall is a good result for us. Really happy with how Vasyliv rode and the race he did. Very few mistakes from him and he did really well to hold that and finish as the best CT rider in the race. I was hoping for a bit more of a show during the stages either in breakaways. I was hoping for more then just 1 3rd place from Edmondson but Nizzolo really did well and got multiple top 8 finishes which means points. Like I said in the Herald Sun Tour thread, I think with the bad result there our promotion hopes have disappeared however still really happy with how we raced in the Tour of America and how Vasyliv went with basically no support in the mountains, especially in the last mountain top finish.
Congrats to the fellow Kiwi team Xero and George on the victory! and thankyou Fabianski for putting in that effort to right incredible reports!

I didn't see that one coming on the final stage?!
What was starting to feel like a bit of a disappointing race in week 2 and going into week 3, it was really saved by the last minute stage wins from Bouchard and Eriksson
Especially the latter winning that sprint. Reading the final part I was thinking why couldn't it be Hayden McCormick in that position, because we brought him just in case for that situation. I didn't expect the 65 SP Eriksson to win, but I guess his overall strength pulled him through.
He wasn't as good on the hilly stages throughout the race as I would have hoped, but made up for it here and was a good teammate for others. Zariff did next to nothing the entire race, so in hindsight I probably would've been better off having an attacking team on flat stages as well.
Groselj did a lot of scoring early with 2nd in PRL, Eriksson & Bouchard did the weird 2-3 result, but scored well with GC bonuses. I thought Roman (like all season) would be a bit better, but he did get a 2nd place. Between Bouchard, Roman and Pavlic I was thinking someone might go for KOM, but I guess we focused on stages instead. GC results were okay.
All in all this was a successful race and the final few stages washed away some of my distaste of the race going back to last year's performances
Congrats again to Bennett and Xero on the overall win and to everyone else who had good races
Thank you for the brilliant reports Fabianski! I will admit I didn't read most of the pre-stage information and whatnot, but the action itself had great coverage and was fun to follow for all 21 stages
