I'm here to express my support for Schomber for the stage one victory.
And also to express my congratulations to Fabianski on an amazing preview

What an amazing preview, really really awesome!
And what a race this will be! A great startlist and so many storylines to follow - it’s almost like a reality tv show or wrestling or something. Can Pluch complete his quest for the ‘big 4?’ Can Kraftwerk continue their monopoly here? Can Ranaweera redeem himself after his pitiful showing last season? Can Bennett climb his team out of a hole? And can Choi live up to his billing as top favourite and lead Phillips to survival? Who knows!
I think Bennett and Choi are the big 2 - recovery is going to be very important here. I think Choi takes the win over Bennett due to his TT advantage. Ranaweera then to take the last shot on the podium, with Pluch just missing out on 4th.It would be great to see the old man get just one more big win though
Then for green, what the hell is Eislers doing here? Haller and Van Asbroeck will get the better of him I think, but it will be close.

If I had one very minor quibble with the preview it is the statement there aren't' too many stages for the pure puncheurs - there are 5 potential by my count (3,4,5,6, & 12) which is a lot for a ToA. And were he here Boswell would have been the strongest, so hope I don't regret that.
It's not easy to assess how a stage will be raced when writing the preview I was supposing that 12 would be absolutely perfect for puncheurs with that short hill in the end, while I was unsure if the final hills on 4 & 6 were still short enough for the pure puncheurs. 3 was looking like something for the more robust sprinters to me, while the S5 jigsaw profile looked like it would be hard to control the race - so it was anyone's to win. And I guess we agree that 14 looks too hard for the puncheurs with 2 Cat. 1 climbs (I'm unsure why it didn't get a mountain rating, actually).
But well, that was my personal assessment at the time of writing the preview - about 2 months back I guess You'll find out in due time how the stages really were raced
Thanks to all for the appreciation of the preview, I hope you'll like the reports Knowing how much is at stake for the teams of both divisions involved, I thought it's justified to put some effort into the race
By the way, I'm only done reporting the first 15 stages by now, so on one hand I don't know the final outcome, either, and on the other hand I can't guarantee to post one report a day until the very end. But I'll try

Fantastic preview Fab!
Kraftwerk have brought a strong team to try and defend both the yellow and green.
New recruit Ranaweera has not looked strong in the run up to this race and based on that form I think a podium would be a good result. Nerz has played a super domestique role, I am hopeful he can keep Ranaweera in contention and manage a minor GC placing for himself. Koch has the acceleration to chase down attacks and Destribois is a strong climbing domestique.
Haller is paired with new boy de Buyst who will also get chasing duties on flat stages. Not sure if this pairing will click, Haller has struggled in the past with a different leadout and he has a lot more competition this year.
Rumac can also help with leadout duties and might get a chance on some of the hilly stages.
Due to the more than usual number of hilly stages we brought hill specialist Moazemi to protect his leader and maybe get a few chances for himself.
Looking forward to some exciting racing and I really would like to win the Teams if we can't win GC!

Sad day
Amazing ride from Bennett! Wish he saved those TT legs for Stage 20 though

Vasyliv with a great start!! Really happy with how he rode in the prologue! Hopefully thats a sign of things to come in the TTs for him. Placed very well to attack the GC in the coming weeks.
Roe did well also with a 20th place on the stage. Congrats to Pluchkin on achieving yellow in all 4 GTs! Good to see the legend still has it!
Great report and can't wait for stage 2!

Another day, another prologue with weird results. How good to see the big man get another ‘GT’ win! A lot of pressure on Popo already with the lead after the first stage though. Loved the landmarks featured in the stage and also the scenery, it was very nice to look at.

Thanks for the beautiful preview Fabi. Even though I really regret coming here, lets hope for the best. That best is clearly not Itami as he has been disappointing all season. Congrats to Popo with the win!

So close by Groselj!
I don't recall ever doing better than this in a prologue so I'll take it
Roman 1'30'' down and 2nd last in GC, already KOM hunting in week 1?

Well that was interesting. Van Asbroeck with the Prologue of his life! Had hoped Stoltz would do something like this but not going to complain one bit. Great chance for us to get Yellow on Stage 2 but i am sure it won't happen
In the GC battle, Pluchkin with the early advantage and also no advantage for us over Bennett who is far worse in the TT. The first week will suit him much better so this isn't ideal. However, can't grudge jandal a good result so let's try to bring down the big guy together
Leading the teams is also not something that happens at all for us, so this is new! Hope this can continue. Eenkhoorn just missing out on White today is a shame but it's a promising start at least.
Congrats to Popo and thanks for the report Fab

Ouch, could be a long 3 weeks for Glanbia
Let's see tomorrow if Bennett is in contention among the sprinters

What a great tour of New York, thanks Fab.
Ranaweera had a decent start and Nerz obviously won't give up the title without a fight!
Congrats to Popo, could this be history in the making?

Philips deserved this so badly, loving the win and the jersey for TvA!
Beautiful reports, Fabianski surely wants this to become the race of the year.

Thanks, but I have to give most credits for this to Ulrich, who took a lot of notes (especially of the New York and San Francisco stages) and provided me with lots of infos I wouldn't have known about
And obviously thanks to the stage maker who included all those landmarks, I can't imagine how much work that was! It's fun when you have Google Maps and the PCM stage side by side and you're like "oh, they included this building/park as well!"
However, I don't really know how to fix that one:

Another super guided tour of New York, great stuff Fab.
I couldn't have asked for more effort from the team, Nerz, Rumac and De Buyst worked really well together in their first test of organising a sprint train.
Haller doesn't have the Res to cope with being dropped off with 800m to go and he blew up. I am hopeful that a repeat in future stages will get him closer to the finish and he can deliver a stage win.
Congrats to Abhishek, Van Asbroeck got his positioning right.

Nizzolo is looking good in the sprints. Bad luck that he missed out on that sprint but good signs to see him win a sprint point as well as win the sprint of the pack. Hopefully he can make the split in the next flat stages.

Fab gives me too much credit, most of those landmarks he called out himself. The zcts is by Leon40 and is incredible. So thanks to Fab for doing it justice.
Not much so far for McCormick. Kuss with a decent ride on S1. Feiereisen too far down the favorites to have an impact but at least he tried a little, so maybe if the dice land right on one stage he will get himself into position for a decent result.

Excellent stage for the lads in hot pink! Continuing the tradition of our riders being quite good in GT's this season, gives me hope of a surprise result across the remaining 19 stages.
