JULY & AUGUST UPDATE

Fnally all results for July and August are in, so it's time to talk about. Here a short overview of July:

Uppsala Classic C2
- W. Willwohl GC P17

Isle of Man IT C2
- K. Predatsch P6

Tour de Vineyards C1
- P. Bauhaus S2 P9 ; S4 P13
- T. Van Dijke S4 P1 ;

Windhoek TTT C1
- Last

Betonexpressz GP C2
- W. Willwohl GC P5

Lets start with the Team TT, we got what we expected and deserved in the end. Last place, simply we don't have a TT Team so we have to accept this for this year as it is. Our only weapon for TT's is Predatsch what he showed in the Isle of Man Race where he finished 6th. Thats what we can expect of him and we're happy with that.
The 2 one day races we got mixed results. With the Uppsala Classic we arent satisfied, i think we are stronger than that 17th position Willwohl could score, but that happens. The 5th position from him in the Betonexpressz GP is a good result, sadly our goal was to win it so we cant be completely satisfied also.
For the Tour of Vineyards we hoped we could have scored a bit better in the Sprints than the 9th and 13th place of Bauhaus but there was a great competition. Otherwise we are more than happy with the Victory of Van Dijke at the 4th Stage!.
Overall I think that was an average month with the Highlight from Van Dijke.

For August we have the following:

Benelux Challenge HC
- L. Plapp S3 P1 ; Points P8
- T. Van Dijke KoM P5

Giro del Trentino C2
- L. Plapp S3 P6 ; U25 P9
- D. Sunderland S3 P2 ; Points P4 ;

Frankfurt Eschborn C1
- J. Hollmann GC P24

Tour de l'Avenir U23
- Nothing

The highlight here and probably overall so far is definitely the victory of Plapp atthe 3rd Stage of the Benelux Challenge. Totally unexpected! Also the placements of Plapp and Van Dijke in the Points and Mountain Classifications are very satisfying.
Followed was this by the Giro of Trentino, even if Plapp could score that high here he still did a good job. A very positive note here from Sunderland with finishing 2nd at a hard stage 3.
In germany at the Frankfurt-Eschborn race we could only get Hollmann into the Top 25, so it was overall not very satisfying but for Hollmann himself it was really a nice result and individually we are happy.
Last to talk about is the Tour de l'Avenir and with "nothing" we have there it seems dissapointing. But it's a hard race of the best young riders and for our CT Team it's just very hard. Also overall Plapp did a good job and could stay in the Top 15 / 20 till the last stage where he sadly collected a lot more minutes so he dropped out of Top 20 but till then it was a good race from him. Overall it was a good month of him and I am sure in the future we can expect a lot from him.
The August i would rate kinda positive because our younger and less experienced rider could show some potential.

--------------------------------------------------------

With that we only have 2 months left this season, for us this means 6 more races. Our goal ist to keep it up like before. In the team rankings we wanna stay at least on P16 and maybe even get 1 or 2 more places but this wont be an easy task.

--------------------------------------------------------

Another general information. Since we nearing the end of the season there are already quite a lot going behind the scenes and I can already announce that the Staffbase - BHP Team won't exist in the upcoming season!

But that doesnt mean we will be gone. Just our contract with our 2 main sponsors will end. We will continue the work with this team and we are already in final negotiations with a new partner! Stay tuned for this!

Very interesting, I wonder if there might also be a change of focus region as well? Or just new sponsors? Smile

Well, your sponsors don't have a lot of patience Pfft
I also finished in the bottom 5 in my first year (15th out of 17), just to promote next year. And I think your team might be similarly well set - not targetting instant success, but rather focusing on the long term. All the best for the future, and as Eden, I'm curious to see what direction you'll take Smile

I can say that allready. We will stay a german based team! We will even have a deeper connection i would say. The australian component will be gone though therefore we're focusing in generally more at european riders.

Well, your sponsors don't have a lot of patience

Grin The sponsor would have wanted to continue he saw the potential of our project! But so did others also so we took the chance with our new, bigger, partner to reach a multi year deal!

End of the week we will be available to reveal our new partner line-up!

Like previously announced it's time to share our new sponsors for the upcomming season with the world. Again thanks for our previous partners for making this project possible!

At first our new, and only, title sponsor!

Great news, and even a sponsor I've already heard of Pfft

And that jersey looks really stylish already, great quality for "Work in Progress" Smile If you stick to that color scheme, I guess it should be pretty well recognizable in the peloton (which is already the case for the current one, though).

Exciting times for this team! And the shirt is just amazing, wow! Good luck for the upcoming season Smile

SEPTEMBER UPDATE

September races for us are already over and now that means we only have one month left to represent the colors of our current Partner Staffbase & BHP.

The September itself was pretty average. After all the months we already know now what our team is capable of and they delivered like this again.

Tour of the Middle East C2
- W. Willwohl S1 P12 ; S2 P21

Bayern Rundfahrt HC
- K. Predatsch S1 P24 ;
- W. Willwohl S2 P4 ;

GP Lugano C1
- A. Grosser GC P20 ;

Willwohl could score some points. Also Grosser did pretty well at the GP Lugano. I would have wished that Predatsch could have shined a bit more in the ITT's at the Bayern Rundfahrt but in the end the others were just too strong.

So for the last month this year lets give our best and hope we can score more and maybe surprise at some races so we can give a nice Goodbye to our sponsors and lead our path for next year with our new partner Würth MODYF .

Although the season isn't done yet, congratulations on getting through your first season, and nice to see the Gemran focus staying indeed. Incredibly stylish jersey already as well, looking forward to competing against it/you in some races next season!

Good to see a familiar face in the CT peloton next season, though with a new name and a great new jersey. Keeping your focus is great, even more so as we probably won't clash for riders in transfers Smile

A Last Goodbye! - Season Review

As the Season for our Team is over now and only the championships on the calendar, it's time to look back.

We kinda started good in the Season when we just look at the Vuelta al Tachira, we could score quiet a bit. And if you look alone at the Pts per Event this one should stay on top almost till the end. Our next "highlight" was the Top 5 of Vermeersch at Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne . The rest of the races in January and February went pretty bad to be honest.
March we could note our first win. Willwohl won a Stage at Jelajah SKL. Besides the Coppa Placci we could score decently in any other race. In April Van Dijke secured the KoM Classement of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge.
In May we Wohrer and Hindley got on the Podium at the Second Stage of the Austrian Tour, great for Wohrer in his home country. Then came June, this was pretty bad we barely scored. In July we recovered a bit and scored a few Pts in every race we attended and Van Dijke won the 4th Stage of the Tour de Vineyards.
August we set another Highlight for our Team. Our rookies did very well ath HC Benelux Challenge. Our loan in Plapp could win the 3rd Stage and Van Dijke finished 5th n the KoM Standing. We dont wanna talk about September because it was just bad.
Then the last month came, October. And at the Herald Sun Tour we did very well and scored as much as we didnt before in an event. Lietaer wore the yellow jersey one day and the KoM jersey till the end! Will wohl did really good at the sprint finishes and Predatsch secured with a good TT thr 4th place at the GC. The last 2 Races were Zuri Metzgete and Giro dell'Emilia. Lets Start with Emilia, we couldnt score here but that was to be expected, it was a strong field and our team here wasnt the best. Sunderland could present our colors at the early parts of the race though. For Zuri Metzgete we had a little bit higher hopes and we could at least score with Vermeersch and Lietaer.
I think especially with the results at the Herald Sun Tour we could say goodbye with a good results to our current partners Staffbase and BHP. Thank you for making it possible to start this project!

Who messed this up?! - Conclusion

Now lets see why we ended this season like we did? Why we didnt score more and placed higher? First lets see how our riders individually did:

Willwohl88
Predatsch73
Vermeersch70
Hindley67
Van Dijke63
Wohrer41
Plapp35
Lietaer34
Jans30
Grosser24
Koch21
Bauhaus18
Sunderland12
Schachmann4
Hollmann3
Lipowitz1
Boeckmann1
Berwick0
Engelhardt0
Plowright0

So how do we rate this? If I look at this then I think I am only really satisfied by Predatsch and Van Dijke. All the others I am pretty sure could have done a lot better.

But was it there fault? What did they do wrong?
Nothing! It wasnt there fault really, the problem here was the respsonsible staff aka me. The race planning was just not good at all and when I look back to it then I also remember I didnt plan for success I prioritized the experience farming for the talents. And thats what comes out of this. Only on second and third notes I actually tried to send the best teams. So lets say it again the only one to blame here is myself. I did a poor job at race planning. Also the team composition wasnt that suited to my liking and strengths in the end. I couldnt really utilize riders like Vermeersch, Lietaer, Jans, Grossser, Schachmann and so on. So we need a change at this too. But more to it at the next section.

At the following episode you will see a little preview for the next season and what will change and how we wanna move forward!

-------------------------------------------------

Now lets move one with some messages of our readers:

@kandesbunzler26: Well, we might have some "troubles" at next transfer phase. More to it at my next section. But I am glad to battle you again next year then we hopefully both fight for promotion with our extraordinary jerseys.

@Nemolito: Thanks. This season didnt bring the results but it brought a lot of experience so we can hopefully utilize this next season and do a lot better.

@AbhishekLFC & redordead : Thank you! Yes we are definitely connected to our country but we still wont be limited to it. See our little preview below.

A big welcome to our new partners! - 2023 Preview

With the new season we will be known as the Team Würth MODYF like mentioned earlier. We are happy about this change in name and other things. But some things won't change also!
As mentioned also we stay a german team and will continue to focus on our home country. But with the departure of BHP, Australia wont be a part of our future anymore. If you're focusing on that nation maybe remember what i just said for the transfers Wink

We will completely (!) focus on our title sponsors focus and thats completely european at the moment! That means no riders from other continents will be seen on the roster. But that also means there is a lot space for our neighbour countries to get into our team!

Our goal for next season is clear: Success! We wanna fight for promotion and thats what our sponsor wants also. That means we most likely will also shift our focus to different rider types we had till now since our manager isnt really good at planning and utilizing some of our current ones. In 1 year we will see if our plans paid of or not but for now i dont wanna get to deep into that not that anyone can benefit from that informations Pfft
So the renewals, signings and transfers will be very important and also busy for our team and hopefully we can successfully reshape it!
