Marko Polanc: No pressure on us, we are here to learn and have a good time. We have nothing to lose so we will try our best to ride aggressively. I'm very thankful I have another chance to lead this team at the biggest race in the world.

Martin Hvastija: As with any flat one day race the key for us is to be aggressive in the latter part. On the other hand this might be the only time when we have a sprinting option as well. Between Gasper and Nur Aiman we'll try to achieve a good result.

Suisse was a roaring success while South Africa was more of a mixed result Overall I think recent results have been very positive and the team is on an upward curve. Hope you get to enjoy the TDF experience

Indeed, Suisse was some great racing by Pogacar; without that bad day on the final stage he'd have been even higher, but Top 10 definitely is a great result for him! And a foreshadowing of what we can/must expect from him in the future I guess
Gaudu taking 4th in South Africa also looks like a job well done at first sight. However, you must have expected more after having been ranked first in the TTT preview - and indeed, with a stronger TTT even 2nd place would've been possible. Then again, looking at some stronger puncheurs he beat, he sure did a good job.
Overall, great to see that your team has kind of made the turnaround, and they should be in a solid position now despite Beltran's obvious lack of points. Hoping you'll finish somewhere mid-table, and then you might be in a decent position to attack the promotion spots next year

South Africa was still pretty good, it just went differently than I expected.

We'll see. At this point it seems impossible to have two good leaders on my team. Pogacar has probably stolen Beltran's 'powers' this season

The TTT might be my own fault thinking I could get away with 7 riders instead of 8. Gaudu did a good job hanging around and not losing any time. Hopefully he has one more result in him to have another good season

I'm in relative danger as long as Beltran keeps doing nothing. Not many worse underperformers in MG right now, I guess.
You probably have a better idea of where my team stands right now

Love to see Fred Wright getting a shot at the TDF. I saw where TMM had him on the list for the lanterne rouge, no way he is right about that - not with Wright's all round skill set.
Maybe racing with no pressure in the Tour will help Beltran find his mojo and finish the season strong.

I'm happy I have Fred Wright and I agree he seems a bit too good to be the lanterne rouge.

Clearly Pogacar has stolen his mojo. They're racing together for 3 weeks now, if he can't get his mojo back now, then I don't know how he does.
We might need a time machine in that case, you know any going spare?

Martin Hvastija: We are taking the same approach as in South Africa, but of course we realise the level of competition here is much higher. We need a solid team time-trial performance, then it's up to David on the final stage.

Solid TTT and climbing outfit to put Gaudu in position to do something for you in the GC

That's the idea. Races like South Africa and this one are also a bit of a testing ground to see what the TTT setup is capable of.

Covering both May and June this is a bigger update with 30 race days used by our team. While the Tour of Chile continued the trend of disappointing races by Eddy Beltran, the rest was then very good.
Geoffrey Bouchard scored our first stage win of the season in Austria and Tadej Pogacar added with a U25 victory. Tadej then had his best race of the season with 5th overall plus a stage victory in Norway. It was a huge scoring race with Milos Borisavljevic also in 8th and David Gaudu in 16th place. Another U25 victory for Tadej and the team classification netted close to 300 points.
Two more races followed in June. Tadej was again in great form with 10th place in the Tour de Suisse and David Gaudu finished 4th in the team time-trial altering race in South Africa. All this means we move up from 15th to 12th, but more importantly we have opened more than a 400 point gap over the relegation spots.
Most of our success in this period is down to Tadej Pogacar or more specific to everyone that has ridden the same races as Tadej. We have kept our scoring going by securing depth GC results and featuring in team classifications.

Start | End | | Race | Category | 01-Aug | 06-Aug | | Benelux Challenge | 2.HC | 06-Aug | | | Clasica San Sebastian | 1.PTHC | 09-Aug | 13-Aug | | Post Danmark Rundt | 2.HC | 15-Aug | | | Frankfurt Eschborn | 1.1 | 17-Aug | 21-Aug | | Tour of Britain | 2.1 | 18-Aug | | | Riga - Jurmala GP | 1.PTHC |
The final part of the calendar. We start at the Benelux Challenge and we have fond memories of it with our first KOM classification victory there last year. San Sebastian opens up Eddy Beltran's 2nd block of racing, an important goal race also. Post Danmark Rundt is the only race on our calendar that could be described as a pure TT race. The next two races are far from ideal, but for whatever reason we decided on them. We will need to show good attacking intent to come away with good results in Frankfurt and Britain. Same could be said for Riga - Jurmala, but of course it came as part of a PTHC band.
Yes, we are doing it again. The Tour of America. I would lie if I didn't say it left a sour taste in my mouth last season. Our fleeting promotion push ended there last year. Still with the lack of leader options in our squad we decided to come back. At the same time we will be at Balkans International again. We consider this our home race which we have never failed to participate in. And to be honest we haven't had a reason no to. Bayern Rundfahrt will be the last chance for some of our TTers and GC riders. We don't expect much going up against top cobbled competition in Rheden. More interesting will be the hilly double header with Milano - Torino and GP Lugano. We will try to be competitive in both.
Start | End | | Race | Category | 01-Oct | 06-Oct | | Tour du Maroc | 2.HC | 14-Oct | | | Grand Prix Cycliste | 1.PTHC | 18-Oct | | | Giro dell'Emilia | 1.HC |
The last month is always a bit shorter, but we have some notable races in October. Maroc is our final stage race and one last chance for our climbers. GP Cyclistes might throw up a few surprises, definitely an interesting race. Finally it's the now common final race that closes out the PCT season. One last glory day for Eddy Beltran perhaps?
